Hi all,
Hope it's ok to post this question here.

I seem to be cucumber challenged :D . I love eating these but it seems any type that I buy (the small pickling ones, the seedless English cucumbers, the regular ones) go bad after a few days :(. I have tried everything - washing and drying them right when I get back from the store and storing them in a ziploc bag, leaving them as is in their packaging, etc. But after 2 or 3 days, I find that they start to get this slime texture on the skins and then white spots and get rotten (sorry to be so graphic!)

Does anyone have any suggestion how I can keep these relatively fresh throughout the week? I do my shopping once a week, so the longer the better!

Thanks!
Tam

Yes, Yes, Yes. I think I discovered how to make them last longer. I purchased the green bags. They look like plastic bags and are green for produce. The cucumbers I purchased now last up to two weeks. You can find them on line, at health food stores, or bed bath and beyond.

i've wondered about those bags. i never got them on account to the fact that they kinda freak me out. do they give off any gases that could effect the quality of the food. it just seems unnatural. but to tell you the truth i haven't looked to much into it. all i know is 1. produce lasts way longer but 2. it seems creepy to me for some reason.

if you could explain anything further i would really appreciate it. thanks!!! :) :) :) :D
