View Full Version : I've never been so thrilled to be sick!

I've had my moments back and forth with raw. I really want to be healthy, but I couldn't quite understand why I was recently choosing to eat non-raw food if that was the case. It never makes me feel good.

Back and forth I went until I was all the way on the "dark side" and eating lots of crap on vacation (bagels with butter, croissants, a beer, even had some cigarettes although I didn't eat those hahaha). I tried to have raw too, but I just wasn't "sacrificing" to do it.

Then I lost my voice and got a cough that was like a bad case of bronchitis. I had a couple non-raw things even on the first day of that...

Then I said "To heck with this!!! I need raw food!" Well... now I'm on week two back to ONLY 100% raw food, and darn if I don't feel better than I have in months. I feel GREAT!

And, you know what? Getting sick is just our body trying to get rid of bad stuff usually. This totally put me on the fast track to getting well again. I got rid of a ton of crap. And did I mention yet that I feel GREAT again!? :)

Sickness is the best motivator.

Hi Shell!!!

Thanks. :) Glad to be back, but I am trying to cut back on my non-work computer time, so even being 100%, I just can't be on here all the time. I have too much stuff to do, and it doesn't get done!

But seriously, gawd I feel great, so if you meant in that sense, it's glad to be back... well, yeah!

I guess either way.

Geez, now I'm just a blubbering fool.

I was just curious if anyone has not experienced illness from going back to SAD food. I recently broke my 4 months of 100% raw and I didnt get sick, I felt blah but I thought I would be in the bathroom or something. Part of me almost wanted to so that it would stop me from eating SAD but with no symptoms other than instant weight gain it has been hard for me to get back on track:(

I originally went raw because I got a bad cold that kept me in bed, unable to get up, and extremely dizzy for 12 days. For the next few weeks after that, I still felt weak.
Then I went raw. I never dreamed I could have as much energy as I do now. I eat an occasional cooked vegan meal, but it doesn't really effect me that much, as long as I keep drinking water and get right back to raw.
It's neat that we're learning how to love and care for our bodies. Too bad we weren't always as wise as we are now!

Keep it up, Eva. Went my family went on vacation, I ate junk food and then on the long drive home my legs swelled up. It was a wake up call.

Keep up the great work. Wow.

I know this isn't what we're talking about, but it's on my mind. I have been falling off the raw wagon more often than I'd like but keeping up certain habits (smoothies, eating more raw than not, etc). The flu ripped through my house and there was only one person left standing: ME!

It helped me feel better about my journey and realize even though I'm not perfect (well no one is), I'm doing something right.

I should add I'm usually the first person to get sick. My kid never gets sick and my husband usually doesn't get sick as often as I do.

Wow! This is exactly what is happening for me right now. My boyfriend came down with the flu two days ago, and the poor guy hardly ever gets sick. I was sick with the flu early january, which is what inspired me to get back to raw.

I'm typically the first person to get sick, and I usually get really ill for *weeks*. My immune system has never been very good. But today, I feel great, and have been taking care of my bf, who is doing better, but still weak. I'm really sorry that he is sick, but I'm so glad that my lifestyle choice is working and my immune system has healed.

My bf said he is going to try 100% raw once he gets better, since he noticed I didn't get ill.

It is so inspirational how you took a negative thing (being sick) and turned it into a positive (raw food). Good luck to you. I am glad you are feeling better.
