Hello!
I love thai green papaya salad! I used to get it all the time at my favorite thai restaurant.
Does anyone have a recipe for an authentic thai green papaya salad?
Thanks!

Anybody?
I am leaving for an asian market in about 30 minutes and would love to pick one up.
Oh heck, I will pick one up anyway and hope when I get back there are 100 responses of how I can use it...:D

Som Tum!! One of my very very favourite recipes in the whole universe!!! The salad is almost raw as is - you just have to sub the fish sauce and the sugar. I usually use agave to get the sweet and braggs to get the salty. I also add a bit of pink himalayan salt to the mix too. This recipe I found on the net because when I make it, I usually just go by taste - but these are the ingredients I use. Just use the amounts as a loose guide and taste as you go. I add more chile because I like it hawt!:D
4 cup(s) grated raw papaya
1 cup(s) finely shredded cucumber and carrots
2 tablespoons peanuts crushed
4 cherry tomatoes halved
1-4 whole fresh red chillies crushed
2-4 cloves of garlic crushed
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1-2 tsp agave
1 tbsp braggs
pinch salt
Smash the garlic, chile, agave, and salt in a mortar and pestle. Mix with lemon and braggs and toss with salad. Sometimes I will also add cilantro, thai basil, or spring onion and maybe some additional peanuts.

i've not made this yet, sounds amazing though. something i've been doing instead of soy sauce/braggs is mixing a little miso with water, or using straight miso depending on the recipe. its not 100% raw but much better than weirdly-processed-soy-msg-juice-who-knows-what... in my opinion. :)
