i've noticed i have black rings around my eyes... what would cause this? i would think, being on a 100% raw diet, that i wouldn't have rings???
i drink a green smoothie every morning
sometimes another for lunch.
so more greens is not the issue here. i eat very few nuts and avocados...
what could it be?
Tired? I read that dehydration causes it too. More water?

get new pillows
check head placement in bed
increase water intake
consider facial exercises

Agree with lifeAgift - I read that having more pillows/keeping your head slightly elevated as you sleep, allows toxins/fluids/whatever, to drain, rather than accumulate under the eyes.
Can it also have something to do with the liver? (Maybe not ...)

My mom had quite dark circles under the eyes and they drastically reduced while we did the Optimum Health Institutes's program for three weeks. I also read a book called Inside Poop by a colon hygienist. He talked a bit about dark circles in his book. Although I can't remember what he said. It probably had something to do with toxins in the colon since that is what most of the book is about. I think circles are toxins though for sure. Cleanse cleanse cleanse and dry brush to get that lymph circulating to help wash it away from under the eyes.

i was just at a david wolfe talk, and he said that dark circles are usually caused by not having enough minerals.
i know you said you often have 2 green smoothies a day, but if there was a long term deficiency before you went raw, you may need a real boost of minerals, as 2 smoothies a day wouldn't be enough.
not sure what greens you're using but the dark, blackish green kale leaves are super high in minerals.
also seaweed. i started eating a bit of sea weed everyday, and over 6 months i find it's almost all my body wants. super high in minerals.

i'll get a new pillow.
i stopped skin brushing lately... i get back to it!
i do facial exercises in my yoga classes, so i should be good there.
mmm massage... i would love a massage. i'm going to have to get some ideas for this though.
i have another colon and organ cleanse kit, so i'll start it tonight!
i loooove seaweeds, so i'll happily add more to my daily diet.
off to find out what Optimum Health Institute is.
thanks everyone... i did a search on the net and came up empty... i knew you'd all know the answer!

i just started tracking my food intake on nutritiondata.com and its fabulous! i found out lots of valuable things about the nutrients i am not getting enough of, and some things that i am getting way too much of (like salt!)
dark circles under the eyes runs in my family. sometimes they look better, and sometimes worse. recently they were pretty pronounced, and my ayurvedic practitioner said my kidneys were needing support. so i've been on herbs for kidney support, and i also ordered this product: http://simplydivinebotanicals.com/payobathle.html (thanks for the tip, kaleidoscopeeyes!) and i really like it. interesting to note that the description of the product says it provides support to the kidneys. and it contains seaweed. the circles underneath my eyes have been barely noticeable this week.
good luck!

i wanted to second that...
dark circles indicate a kidney problem.
