Hey,
I am 36yrs old, married, mum of a twenty year old (girl) and a ten year old (boy).

I was a chubby kid, anorexic teen, full figured young woman, and now…well, 249lbs and 5ft 4in tall.
Like most women I have been on every diet possible, in recent years I’ve tried vegetarianism and an alkaline diet. Doctors have told me that I have a hard time losing weight because of my P.C.O.D, and I always will be “big”:(.
I had quit dieting and didn’t see much hope, but I still had (and have) a craving to eat differently, my body doesn’t feel nourished and well when I eat meat and cooked food.
I stumbled upon the raw food lifestyle by searching out salad recipes that have kale in them on youtube (LOVE raw kale!). I spent hours watching clip after clip on raw food and started feeling hopeful again! Then I saw the promo clip for Alissa Cohen’s DVD and so here I am.
We have happily been having smoothies w/greens for breakfast and eating raw for lunch sometimes, my husband and son love vegetables, fruit and healthy foods. I have a food processor, a blender, and I am hoping to get a dehydrator at some point.
I want to take the 30 day but I know I need to get some routines down first. My small town stores don’t have much to offer and there aren’t any farmers markets here until well after the snow melts. Even our health food store hasn’t even heard of things like raw cacao, so I need time to get creative.
Well, I am happy to be here and I feel blessed to have access to all this great info!

I'm sooo excited for you. By the way, Alissa's website does have raw carob and maybe even the cacao. I too live in a small town and it's a 40 minute drive to a health food store, which is actually really nice. We still have snow right now but I saw my croakus (sp?) peeking out of the ground today....won't be long and it will be time to plant the garden. Sounds like raw is really going to work for you. If you liked the DVD clip of Alissa's you'll really like her book....it has everything you need to know about going raw and then some. Good Luck and enjoy the forum.
