i never actually tasted my agave. i've added it to tea, to desserts... but i never tasted it. i did tonight... with some raw peanut butter and celery sticks. OMGoddess it was soooooooooooooo good. way better than any sweetener i've ever tasted.

mmmm you gotta go taste it!

i discovered today that trader joes brand sells agave, super cheap, too-i think it's about 12 oz for $2.99. then i went to whole foods and saw madhavas agave for only $2.99, too!

It's very sweet. Too sweet for me on its own. When I use it in a recipe, I ususally use half or less. I don't like really sweet things.

I love agave too, but I usually halve it as well... I went to a dessert class last weekend, and one of the cookie recipes called for 2 *cups* of agave  Granted the recipe was for 36 cookies, but still. Last night I made the cookie recipe (for 36) and I used 1 cup of agave and the cookies are plenty sweet. So... i usually initially add less and then add more if necessary. Better too little at first than too much.

I don't like super sweet either though- I'm more of a savory foods type person now (which is weird, because when I ate a lot of SAD food I *loved* super sweet foods- I guess my tastes are changing).

Agave tastes great! I have to be careful not to eat too much. Although it's claimed to be safe even for diabetics (which I'm not), that claim hasn't held up, according to Dr. Cousen's research. Also, most agave which is labelled raw isn't actually raw. I buy the best brand I can and use it sparingly.

I too use it sparingly....mostly because of the cost but I do enjoy everything I've put it in. I also like to drizzle a little over a salad along with the usual apple cider vinegar and seasonings.

I know this is off the subject but I just read about your wheatgrass smoothie...it was sooo fun, thanks for sharing. I got a kick out of seeing your dogs loving it too. Have you read about the way Ani Phyo feeds her dog Kanga....fun!

oh heehee... my dogs are not vegan... but they are 50% raw (as they get a raw diet plus kibble)
