Is this considered raw sugar? I think it's also call demerara sugar. It's kind of brownish and the sugar crystals look coarser than regular sugar. Anyway, I really like it, and was hoping it might be as good as honey or agave to use in sweetening my herbal teas.

It is not raw at all as it is heated to high temp. Even if it were raw, any refined sugar like this is more dangerous than smoking, no matter how raw or organic it is. It's crucial to understand many natural things are extremely dangerous to human health even when raw and organic, like sugar, grains, soy, peanuts, etc.

mmm, I wouldn't laugh at raweater's odd ideas too soon. In the article below, and other articles I've read about refined sugar, it's mentioned that sugar prevents cells from properly respirating. Cell respiration and cancer are linked in various other studies, including work done by Otto Warberg (sp?).
