Hi everyone,

I was blessed to be able to attend a raw uncooking dessert class with Chef Jenny from 118 in Costa Mesa today (it was awesome btw- anyone in the area should definitely attend one of her classes if you have time). Anyway, she used lucuma in several recipes. Alissa doesn't carry it, and I looked at Mother's market and on sunfood.com and couldn't find it either of those places either. So... I'm not sure where to get it? Chef Jenny said that maca could be used in place of, which I got recently, but I'd love to get some lucuma powder.

Also, could anyone tell me the difference between lucuma and maca in taste? Jenny said that one was more "maple"-y than the other, but I don't remember which.

Thanks for any help! :)

i do believe matt monarch carries it. let me get you a link:

Lucuma Powder = 1 lb (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1001301&affiliate_banner_id=1)

Maca (http://www.rawveganbooks.com/product_info.php?ref=199&products_id=1001038&affiliate_banner_id=1)

By the descriptions... I'd say the Lucuma is more maple flavoured

I got my lucuma from Raw Euphoria in LA (I live in the Inland Empire). That's great to hear about the raw dessert class. Thanks for the tip! Do they have general food classes, or just desserts?

I purchase mine from Alex the Raw Guru of rawguru.com. He carries a lot of raw products and there is FREE SHIPPING on orders of $100 or more!

I've got mine from Shazzie (detoxyourworld.com) and from funkyraw.com. Shazzie ships worldwide I think but funkyraw is uk only. Shazzie's tasted better but the one on funkyraw was cheaper!

Thanks so much for the answers! That link is perfect RG, and I will likely buy through him. I'm sure Shazzie's is good, but seeing as how I'm in the US, I'm sure the shipping&handling will be so expensive its better to buy it here...

Jenny is doing a class again next month- a beginner/general raw class. I plan to go to that one too. It was in Irvine, so I anticipate the next one will be also.

I think she alternates months, but you may want to call the restaurant to find out: www.shop118degrees.com

I bought mine from Matt Monarch. I like it. I don't like the way Maca tastes, but I like the lucuma, especially in sweet things.
