Hi! I'm Cyra. I joined this community last year in an attempt to go raw, but fell flat. I don't think the time was right for me. Since that time, though, I became a vegetarian, then, after reading about the cruel treatment of animals in the book Skinny Bitch, bumped it up to vegan. Just with those changes alone, I lost 15lbs.
I also got into yoga, which I'd also tried before in my life to try to lose weight, but this time it was different. I didn't go into it for anything physical. I wanted a spiritual change. I found it in the practice and that day truly changed my life. I practice every day now and I've become mentally and physically strong. In looking for a purer mind, soul and body and a purer practice, I recalled my earlier foray into raw food and instantly knew it was time to go back and pick up that lifestyle again. I guess it's true that nothing happens before its time. I don't think I was emotionally or mentally ready for the raw plunge before, but I know for a fact, I am now.
So tomorrow, February 25, I will begin my challenge to go 30 days raw. My fridge is stocked and I'm already used to having a fruit breakfast and salads for lunch and nuts and dried fruits for snacks, so it's not such a hard transition like it was last year. I know for a fact this way of eating is better for my health and for the health of my family. My aim is to transition first, then, once I'm strong in my new lifestyle, pull my son and my hubby up with me. Here's to a new beginning....again!
