Hi!
I have been a vegetarian since January and had been losing a steady amount of weight every week. Last week i went to Guam where the portions are giiinormous and although i managed to stay veggie i gained 1.5 kilos back. i was so discouraged and this is when i started looking into a raw diet.
I have PCOS (main reason for my weight gain) which also comes with mood swings, lack of energy, and depression. I've read a lot about raw diet and in many cases it increases energy and in all the posts i've read it's made people feel great. On Alissa's website it also says raw diet is a relief for people with diabetes. people with PCOS have the same fundamental problem as those with diabetes of a lack of insulin.
I figured the raw diet to be an answer to all my problems (I'm ready to be patient, though!) so it's coming to me as a sort of new inspiration and I'm ready to stop fixating on the fact that i've gained back a kilo and am looking forward to this new challenge of a raw diet!
I live in Japan and don't have any of the tools regular raw diet-ers have, but I still hope to have the same amount of success.
Good luck to all!

Welcome.....you said you don't have the regular raw tools but I hope you will be able to get Alissa's book....you will find all that you need to know how to be successful in the raw lifestyle in her book. It answers so many questions and even questions you didn't even know to have. It's nice to have a blender and a food processor of any sort but you can still be successful with just a knife to cut your veggies etc. Good Luck....Judith

KONICHIWA! I'M IN JAPAN TOO!

I live in Kawasaki. I've been vegan for 3+ years mostly high raw. I eat loads of fruits & veggies but I do enjoy tofu and rice :)

Are you still living in Japan? I am going to a raw vegan potluck party in Yoyogi Park this weekend - PM me if you want to come!

I lived in Japan for 3 years (I was in Misawa) and came across many neat foods like the daikon that is hard to find here. I found some tools at the 100 yen store. I cannot remember the name of the store in town but it was like a wal-mart. It had TONS of food toold and such. Sprouts should also come easy as well. I miss it over there! Welcome to the board!
