View Full Version : Nut butter based steak?

I always wanted to make a raw steak with filling ingredients like nuts.

In my green star juicer's video Juliano says you can make steak with nut butter but that's about it.

Anyone have an actual recipe?

A black pepper sauce to go on would be great too.

By the way, I tried mushroom steaks and find the lack of calories ruins the recipe (you're just as hungry after eating it than you were before, making it a pointless recipe). I normally workout a lot and can easily eat 5000-7000 calories a day when I do, so I really don't like low calorie things as I'd spend my life eating if I ate that way.

I'm currently too broke to be working out enough to eat that much so I am going more lightly, but I still want filling recipes and mushrooms are about as filling as water.

Thanks

Try adding Nuts to the Mushroom Steak Recipe. I would eat Nuts by the Bag, if I would let Myself. Have you did a "SEARCH" at the top of this page?

Maybe you can come up with a Recipe that would help us all.

Have you tried the pecan burgers in Alissa's book?

For some reason i like this thing - it is not very heavy but pretty filling and tastes cooked

Suflowers seeds - soaked, dried, grounded 1 cup
Flax seeds grounded 1/3 cup
Nutritional yeast 2 9 3 tbs ( optional - for me it enchances the taste)
celery, carrot, parsley leaves, 1/3 cup choped
salt, agave syrop, black pepper, nutmeg, marjoram, basil
dried garlic and onion powder or some fresh chopped onion

put in food processor
mix
add a little water and a coconut melted oil to form 2 burgers
i like to roll them in pecan crumbs before serving ....

eat fast!

vivafree: what's the "2 9 3 tbs" of nutritional yeast?

It's gotta be 293 tbs. NOT 292, and certainly not 294 tbs (ewww!) :D

If I had to guess, I'd say 2-3 tbs

what mushroom steak recipes are you using? The ones I've had have been soaked in oil and therefore seem very high in calories/very filling. But they didn't taste like steak to me.
What I do like and is filling, is portabellos, stuffed with pesto - as in Alissas recipe for button mushrooms. You could adapt that and marinate the mushrooms first in the steak seasoning, and make the pesto with steaklike-herbs rather than basil. Or add lots of black pepper, to make the pesto taste like black pepper sauce.
