Hi My name is Suzy - 55 yrs. old.Married for 36 yrs. to the best husband in the world. 4 grandkids that we adore. and see often. Diabetic for 15 yrs. since a bad car accident. high blood pressure also on meds. high cholesterol but I refuse to take meds for this. So here I am. for about 2 yrs. I've been really trying to watch what I eat. Not losing any weight. I have a very slow metabolisim. I know I need to exercise more. (just joined a gym) I go to Diabetic Clinic and they try and get me to eat a ton of carbs.(balanced diet they say) what a joke , when I eat what they say I have to take a ton of insulin. They have no clue!! So about 8 months ago I found Raw Food classes. I go to them once a month. I wish I could afford more. I've learned so much. 2 months ago I gave up meat. Doing good with that. Also my husband is terrific with eating what I'm eating too. He had a heart attack in Sept. 3 stents and is doing good now. But even after that he was still eating meat. go figure. Now that I'm really serious about doing this, he says he will really try too. He even told me to not buy any more meat. Don't bring it into the house. Hooray!!! I think I will start blogging since I am just beginning my journey!! Today is the beginning. As far as Master Cleanse goes I'm not sure if I should do this - any other diabetics that have done the MC. any feedback would be appreciated. This morning I've only had my lemonade drink, I'm going to make another one. Thanks for listening. Suzy:D

Hi Suzy,

Welcome! There was a post here just the other day from someone who was taking less insulin very shortly after going raw. I wish I could remember the thread.

If you don't have Alissa's book, it might be a way to afford to try out new recipes without having to go to classes.

And maybe think about joining the 30 Day Challenge in March - great camraderie there!

Welcome fellow Ontarian!
Just a suggestion, but have you ever tried hemp protein?
A lot of diabetics swear by it;it helps to regulate blood sugar levels, and
has many(numerous)other benefits.
Ruth's Hemp protein is a great one to try,and it's a local brand,very easy
to find.

Welcome! I'm no expert, but I'd suggest going all raw for a bit before the master cleanse. Raw foods will be very healing and then when you've done it for a while you could try the cleanse. I did read that someone on this board had to adjust their insulin immediately when doing the MC, so be careful if you do that. I wish you and your husband all the best on your new path!!!!!!

Thank you all - I will make sure I go and get some Hemp Protein. Today I did the lemonade drink til 4 p.m. Then my husband came home and wanted to go play squash. Which we did. But then he was starving and wanted to go grab a bite to eat. Which we did. So much for trying to cleanse . I still stayed raw. I guess that's good. I'll try again on Monday. Going away for the weekend. I will still stay raw. I feel much better when I do. All day my blood sugar stayed perfect and I only took minimal insulin. Bye for now. Suzy:D

Hi, welcome! Nice to meet you!! :) This lifestyle is very healing & you'll find relief in no time!! You're right, those specialists know nothing about true health, especially when diabetic. It's crazy! I know nothing about the MC, so I'm no help there. But I wanted to say hello and welcome you!!:D
