I purchased a guava pear (not the same as asian pear) at the oriental market last night. It was wrapped in netting to keep it from becoming bruised. I don't know how to tell when it is ripe. It is currently hard as a rock, but because of the netting I am thinking that it will eventually soften (?) and then it will be ripe....but I have no idea. Does anyone have experience with guava pears? Thanks!
