View Full Version : Painful Gas?!?!?!?

Okay, I'm such a weenie. :(
I haven't even been eating raw for one full day and I'm already complaining.
I feel hungry, but I have painful gas (lol - I'm telling this to complete strangers).
I feel like I have been eating a lot today, but nothing makes me feel full. I don't want to feel stuffed (like with heavy foods), but a satisfied feeling.
Could someone give me an idea of what I can expect my body to feel over the next few "transitional" days?
Right now, I feel ill. blah

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! I'm so glad you have joined us --- and so sorry you are experiencing painful gas! That does happen to some when they first go raw.... make sure you are drinking enough water -- and what kind of foods are you eating?
I know that broccoli, green bell peppers, and some nuts will give me gas so I have to be careful with the amount that I am eating. Your body could be trying to expel some toxins too. If you continue to have problems, and if your bowels aren't moving (i got constipated to when I first went raw.... http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/blush_mini.gif)
having a colonic will help get the gunk and toxins out faster... or prunes work but what I like to use is an herb called Cascara Sagrada - it's non stimulant, non habit forming - but it encourages the peristaltic action of the colon for 'natural elimination'... but if you take this -- try it at home at first to see how your body responds to it! AND DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER WITH IT!!
another thing that works really well is YOGI tea - they have a 'GET REGULAR' flavor tea that really works well.
good luck to you!! and this too shall pass (te~heee... no pun intended!) http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/004_110103_heehee_prv.gif

I've heard that certain foods mixed together can cause gas. Nuts and fruit together for instance. I don't have a problem mixing them but many people do.
As far as feeling full, try drinking a green smoothie. I use about 1/3 bag of spinach, 2 cups cold water, a banana (important), and then some other fruit like mango, pineapple, pear or orange. Stay away from red fruits in this because the final color is just not appetizing! Everyone makes them different so just find what you like. But I find this fills me up and then I snack on other stuff later when my family eats.

Have you read Alissa's book? She really helps you know how to start and answers sooo many questions like your relating. Good Luck.
