I'm trying to quit coffee, because of the acidic effects it has on the body, and have all-time energy lows.... eating 100% raw, too.
I tried to google it, but couldn't find anything that made much sense. Does anyone know about it?

I work at a healthfood store, and though for a while it was a very popular drink, they've done research and found that drinking it highly increases your chance of lung cancer. It said something like 2-3 times more likely.

It doesn't actually increase your risk of cancer. The studies were done on yerba mate tea drinkers in South America. Because many South Americans consume home-made tobacco products, the study didn't correctly account for tobacco intake
Yerba mate neither increases nor decreases your risk of cancer. It still has some caffeine, but less than coffee.
Personally, I love yerba mate! It's so delicious cold with a spoonful of raw honey and a splash of nut milk.

Last week I saw an article about yerba mate on NaturalNews.com (formerly NewsTarget.com). Not sure about the validity of the claims, but plan to look into it further.
