It seems that nearly 2 out of every 3 coconuts I buy are bad, this has been the case for years. I also am not sure if I am buying them bad, or waiting too long before using them.

Does anyone have any tricks? And how long do they keep? 1-2 days? 1-2 weeks?

Thanks

Whenever I buy mature coconuts I press the three holes in the top gently if they are too soft or already broken I find they are usually rotten.

Of course you should always hear the milk when you shake them if they have none no good :)

Thanks, I didn't know about pressing on the holes, I'll try that next time. I knew about hearing the water (the liquid inside isn't milk, it's coconut water, the milk has to be made from the meat) inside.

Thanks
