Where do you buy jicama?
I want to make some raw fries, but can't find any. I work at our food coop and I've never seen any here, and the large chain store that carries lots of organic produce and specialty items doesn't have any either. Is it always so hard to find or is this just a seasonal thing?
Thanks!

We have Jicama in almost every grocery store here in Southern California. I have tried it once and it was tasty, but isn't it related to potatoes? Are you sure it is OK to eat raw?

I see them at Whole Foods in the produce section.

Yup, it can be eaten raw...Alissa has recipes in her book with jicama.
For those of you who've made her jicama fries, anyone substituted agave for the honey? I don't use honey but not sure if I should substitute the exact amount? Thanks.

They are in all the grocery stores here and I also saw them in CA. Never saw any when I was living in NY. You might have to try an ethnic market that sells Mexican food, if you have any such places.
