...has a plastic blender jar? Is this so? If so, how do you feel about it {Vitamix users!}, especially since it warms soups......I've been thinking about getting a Vitamix, but I prefer a glass blender jar thing..............

I feel fine about it. Glass breaks too easily.

I have an old VM maxi-4000 commercial model that I bought new in the early '90's and its still working just like new. It has been the best kitchen investment I have ever made. Its a work house that just keeps going and going. I hope it lasts forever and the way its going it just might ! The old VM has a Stainless Steel can on top rather then glass or plastic. I like the SS model as it is durable. There might be some old SS models out there used to consider getting ? But not mine, its a keeper :)

mine has the polycarbonate container, and i'm ok. honestly if i want to warm something i just use my double boiler and make sure it doesn't get too warm.

hey debe - it only warms things if you let it run and run - i love mine and i KNOW how much you like trying out new recipes, so go for it.

i don't know about the plastic part - personally i'm fine with it.

ps - can you post your recipe in the recipe for vanilla cashew cookies?

It's a good concern. I try to use glass whenever I can but with my VM it's never been an issue for me. If you think aobut it the foods you make in the VM are in the container for such a short period of time it's really a non-issue (for me). It is such an efficient machine that the food is in and out in a matter of seconds or just a few minuets.

cheers,

The new Vitamix 5200 has a plastic jar that is non-polycarbonate and BPA free. I will feel much better about this that the old polycarb container, especially with the dry container. Still saving up the $$, though!

I sure agree with this, and I guess I really never heat anything in my Vitamix anymore anyway. Love my Vitamix!!

This is the one I have
and I luv it

Hmmmm

I'd be more about radiation from my 'puter screen than leaching plastic from my vitamixer
