Hi

Anyone know any good cures for fluid retention? Last night, was horrified to see I'm retaining fluid in my foot(!!!) And now it's spreading. Am not on the raw diet yet - it starts today, but I'd be grateful for any advice.

I don't know what your salt intake is; I would cut the salt. With raw, I don't any problems using a few shakes of the pink stuff (salt). These veggies are great for cleansing the blood and the system of impurities; they act as diuretics in a sense -

beets
parsley
cucumber
carrots

At least that has been my experience (I don't know if you remember, I was the one who developed the "elephant" foot after indulging in popcorn at work (popped in one of those machines just like at the movies so you can imagine the salt). I can't remember the herbs; but I also supplemented with herbs and just juiced a combo of veggies like the ones I listed above. Parsley is excellent. I can't remember the title of the thread now.

I don't know if this helps; I hope it does. Listen to your body and monitor this. Has this happened to you before? Did you eat anything different that you can look back and deem the likely source. I knew if was the popcorn because I had been 100% raw for months and then boom, I fall for some popcorn at work (it wasn't even a lot either but my body reacted right away)

Thanks, Lavender! No, I didn't see the 'elephant' foot thread (will try and find it) but it's v reassuring to know I'm not the only one!!!

I think you're right re the salt - I've always had a lot, but more recently, and I've not been vegetarian, for first time in over a decade. Interesting that you mentioned cucumber - I used to eat a LOT of the stuff, and never really had any problem with fluid retention.

Right. Am off shopping now, with list of good stuff to get. And no salt for me
for a while.
