I was thinking about getting a jacklalane blender instead of a vitamix because the vitamix is so...... expensive for me. But looking online I read some pretty aweful reviews for the product. So has anyone tried a jacklalane blender so I can make my final decision.

I bought the Jack Lalane blender a few years back- shortly after I got it something went wrong and it sprayed plastic fragments all over and I returned it.

I know the Vitamix is expensive but it is such a workhorse that for me it was worth the investment. I look at it as saving me from medical bills later!

I use my vita-mix at least once a day, often more, and I have a suspicion that I had bought the Jack LaLanne, it would have packed up by now.

We've had our Vitamix for 2.5 years now and use it everyday. I think it is worth the extra expense.

Ive got the Jack Lalanne & havent had any problems with it at all....sofar.... but have lost confidence in it because of what Ive read on the forum about other peoples' negative experiences. I did get an extended guarantee with mine so all is covered for 5 years which makes me feel abit less worried. Having read all the stuff about toxins leaching from polycarbonate jugs of blenders even if I could afford a Vitamix I wouldnt want one now & would instead be on the look out for a high speed one with a glass jug.

Here's what I had said in the other thread:
If anyone's looking for a mid range high quality blender I got the Breville BBL600XL (approx $200 US) a few months ago and it's really great, and customer support is awesome. I really love that blender, and really see no need for a vitamix (not saying it's as powerful, it's not, but I don't need any more power than it has).

Here's the product page, they also have a video:

I would save my $$ & get the Vita-Mix. If you PURCHASE an extended warranty from JLL you'll be covered when/if it inevitably breaks down from normal use, otherwise you have 60 days on anything other than the motor. They will not replace your blender if due to non-motor part breakdown does cause damage to your motor since, technically the motor isn't malfunctioning due to motor part issues.

For another $150 you can get a Vita-Mix blender that has a long & wonderful track record, you can upgrade your containers, buy replacement parts, get better customer service & everything.

Price wise there was no way I could afford a vitamix...in the Uk they are often as much as £450, the Jack Lalanne was only £99......huge difference in price.

Raweater - thanks for the link to the Breville I will search for a uk stockist near me incase I need a new blender in the near future.

You can find it on ebay for $184.99 from a seller that ships worldwide, that's where I bought mine. Search ebay for "BBL600XL" (without the quotes).

I was perfectly happy with the Healthmaster 100 until the container started to leak a few weeks ago after four months of daily use. I used it exclusively for making green smoothies making sure that I thawed out any frozen fruits and used enough filtered water before mixing. I ended up buying the commercial version of the Vita-Mix, the Vita-Prep 3, from a Ebay shop. Yeah, it was pricey at around $450 but I figured it'll be an investment in healthy blending for years to come. I'm a happy Vita-Mixer these days...
One interesting FYI: the Vita-Prep container fits the motor base of the Jack LaLanne blender perfectly. Not sure if the consumer Vita-Mix carafes are the same specs. It takes longer to blend and the final mix isn't as smooth as the Vita-Prep but it seems to work fine. Not sure how that combo would work in the long run though.

I was looking for some info about the Healthmaster 100 since I'm beginning to have the same problems with leakage...and I'm wondering if I could get a Vitamix carafe for a replacement. The 64oz Vitamix carafe fits the commercial models (like the Vita-Prep) and I won't be out of hundreds of dollars if I got it. The H100's motor works fine and I really don't want to spend too much more to get a totally new machine, so this may be a viable option to save $$$ (BTW, I got a $50 JCPenny gift card for Christmas last year and used it to purchase the H100 on sale there [$149.95], so my total cost was a little over $100 for the blender.)

I am so glad to see this post! I need a new blender and I am sure the Vita-Mix is a great product and worth the money. There is just absolutely no way I could afford that price. I won't be getting the Jack Lalane! Great guy but I'll skip his blender:)

The vita mix is so worth the money. You'll have it forever! I don't know how I lived without mine now that I have it. I wouldn't buy anything from breville again mostly because I bought their juicer and the motor wore out in less than a year. We all know the vita mix is expensive but you can often find them on craigslist or other sites like that for cheaper. and even the older models do a great job.
