I bought an acidophilus complex in capsule form, I was wondering which is the best way to take it? On the bottle it instructs to take it on an empty stomach, but I have researched it and read that, in general, it is best to take probiotics just before a meal to ensure that it does not get digested in the stomach (pH being too high when stomach is empty). Is this true?

I am taking New Chapter All-Flora V-caps. Last year I took Solgar 40+ Acidophilus and felt the effects immediately. But I've read positive things about New Chapter so went with their product this time.

BTW- I also bought a bottle of GT's Kombucha (first time drinker) and was wondering since acidophilus supplements are so expensive, would I get the same benefit drinking kombucha regularly? It would save me a lot of money in the long run.

Rejuvelac is a great probiotic, as is coconut keifer (vegan, as opposed to regular keifer)

Hi HootieHoo -

like you, I have researched the issue of probiotics quite a lot. What I have found consistantly is that it is important to follow what the labe says. Different companies manufacture the probiotics in a variety of ways, some needing to be taken with food, some without.

Hope this helps!

I love GTs Kombucha, the multi-green and citrus is my favorite, you can feel your PH being balanced, imediate results. I have done both, taken probiotics and had a Kombucha later in the day as a pick me up. I have taken the probiotics on an empty stomach because it just felt right. Even thought the capsuels were enteric coated (bypassing the stomach acid and releasing into your intestines).

new chapter profile:

Probiotic Live Cells 6 billion• L. rhamnosus 0 g• S. thermophilus 0 g• B. breve 0 g •L. acidophilus 0 g• B. infantis 0 g• B. longum 0 g• L. plantarum 0 g• L. salivarius 0 g

New Chapter is great for some things but reading the probiotic profile I feel that Renew Life is better. They both use the basic 6 strains but if you look at the difference between the ones that aren't alike more benifit is coming from the Renew Life.

I don't hold stock in the company, I had just worked at a natural foods store where I tried many different supplements and kept coming back to Renew Life. New Chapter has many great products, don't get me wrong but when it comes to the probiotics Renew Life takes the cake.

Hope that helps you.
