I have spent some time researching the price of Excalibur dehydrators in the UK and am shocked at the differences in price.
I thought I would post these details to help anyone in the UK who is looking to buy an Excalibur at the best price.
I have just ordered a 5 tray Excalibur so my costings below ONLY relate to that.
I spoke to a gentleman called John at a company called Juiceland - at www.juiceland.co.uk (phone number on the website) - who offers the best deal plus free shipping (postage and packing). The cost of the 5 tray dehydrator was £179 (pounds) and he also gave me 5 paraflexx sheets for half price (usually £4.95 per sheet)!! And it is next day delivery by courier.
It would appear that the 'raw food' outlets and suppliers (I'm not going to name them but they will be well-known to regular raw food enthusiasts) charge the most.
I have found that some of these UK raw food suppliers are charging as much as £231 for the same 5 tray dehydrator - that's £52 more AND........get this........John informed me that most of these raw food outlets who do not have their own warehouse or storage space order from him!!! So they are no doubt getting a good retail discount from him (he ships directly to the customer) and charging their customers far more.
I don't think that is very ethical. I know people need to make a profit but John said that his company makes a decent profit with what they charge so why do the raw food outlets need to charge so much more???? I'm all for supporting small businesses but I don't like to feel I am being conned or ripped off.
John now also sells Excaliburs with timers and so he said the standard model (which I have bought) has come down in price a bit. The five tray with a timer was £199 (pounds).
Best wishes.
