OMG! Those are soooo cool. I would be VERY interested in hearing from anyone who has used these successfully. I am an apartment dweller with very little ground space for planting and would LOVE to grow my own veggies. I like the portability of these planters. I would need to put them in a common area for sun but might need to move them to my personal space on occasion to accomodate other tenant needs.
The earthboxes would work but they are a bit on the pricey side for me. I've never gardened before so I'm not sure my green thumb is up to $90 for an earthbox, however, I can rationally spend $19.99 for a Topsy Turvy Planter.
Looking forward to more activity here.

There are two places I get them from: www.earthbox.com/ and www.earthboxresearch.com/. Depending on how many you buy. The second one sells their earthboxes for $35 I think. Not sure about shipping because I go down to the store and buy them rather than pay postage. The first one is a little cheaper. Both are pretty much the same.

Does anybody know of any differences between the Earthbox and The Garden Patch (other than the price :) )?

As for differences - Garden Patch is 2 piece box; earthbox is 2 piece
Garden Patch has 4 small pieces that go on the inside. Earthbox has 1.
Garden Patch water is put in the front throug a large hole in the middle of the box. You can see the water level easily. So can the mosquitoes. You have to put a tablespoon of oil in every week to kill the larvea. Earthbox is watered through a tube. They also have a self watering system you can hook up and automatically fills the water .
Earthbox has plastic covers over the boxes and you put holes in it to plant the box. White on one side for us Florida folks, green on the other side for everyone else. Garden Patch has a medium to dark green plastic sheet that lays on top and has plastic nails to hold it in place.
Outside of those differences, they work the same way.

My hubby asked the guy at our local organic garden supply store about the topsy turvy and he said he got terrific results using a five gallon bucket with a hole cut in the bottom for the plant to come out of. He said the only problem he ran into was that the birds ate them to pieces when they got ripe. I am not sure how the birds would be worse with that planting style versus the ground planting style, I am sending hubby back to ask more when he gets a chance. We are going to try the bucket and see how it works. We already have ten tomato plants in the ground, so I hate to go totally overboard, but with seven kids who all eat fresh tomatoes, I guess there isn't much chance of that.
