View Full Version : Cold Sore Sufferers? READ THIS IF ON MC/JUICE FAST

Been on my juice fast for about 3 days. I just ended a 30 day MC. 2 days prior to the end of the fast, I felt 'detox-y' again... horribly so. I started breaking out around my nose, chin, mouth. I put acne cream on it, to no avail. THEN I noticed that it crusted over and KNEW it was a super cold sore outbreak. I rarely EVER get coldsores, but my kids get them. Acid fruits will trigger outbreaks (google this). I've been living mainly off of grapefruit juice since ending my MC.

I am achey, feel awful. This is the WORST cold sore thing I've ever had.

Now, I still will do the MC in April, but will be armed with prescription meds as a precaution, inclding valtrex tablets.

I just wanted to let everyone know that this can happen (as I lay here with black tea bags on my chin and face, waiting for the dr to call me back so I can fill my prescription).

I am so ticked, as all the juice I have right now (cept for some bananas, apples, blueberries, and coconuts) are citrus fruits. I planned on having tomato juice blend today, too. Ugh.

I am officially *off* citrus for the duration. Darn.

get some lysine tablets and apply coconut oil to the affected areas. try not to take the prescription it will only make things worse. let your body ride this out naturally. the lysine will help and so will the coconut oil and they are natural. take about 5 tablets of lysine daily. good luck and hope you feel better

OMGOSH! GREAT IDEA!

MUAH!

I applied strong english breakfast tea brewed in 1/2 c water (3 bags) to the 'zits' and they are HALF THE SIZE they were an hour ago. (I also took a tylenol for the pain in my jaw and aches, something I rarely do).

I will rush out and get coconut oil later today (gave my jar away just a week ago to someone who 'needed it' and will get the lysine tabs). I'd thought a moment ago about using lysine tablets, too.

I am not jazzed about using meds and your advice is greatly appreciated. My body is as sore as a person newly infected, so the MC MUST have taken me down to a pretty clean state.

Wow.

red marine algae is also really good at clearing (and preventing) cold sores... might be something to take now and also during your next mc to avoid this happening again. you can get it at health food stores. a little bit expensive, but worth it i think.

realize that this IS another symptom of detox and suppressing it with medications probably not ideal.

feel better!

hi beckx!

I couldn't find it at the store, I looked for it. I *did* find 1000k mg of lysine, which I took 5 and smeared on some virgin coconut oil. The tea bag tannic acid really took away 70 percent of the inflammation and I am confident the lysine and stuff will finish it all off.

I will search for the red algae, maybe gnc carries it.

I am officially off the juice fast, tho' I plan on staying on juices, water, and kale (have dehydrated). The kale seems good for moving the bowels and it is high in lysine to boot.

My body aches, so I am going to continue on with cayenne capsules...

I'm not sure and have been trying to figure this out since I went raw in August. Is it better to ride out detox or is it better to use supplements to treat it ? Any thoughts or opinions ?

I dunno, but this is beyond detox for me. I ended my juice fast today because I am so miserable and the face stuff is spreading.

I am going to mono-eat all the things that I was (oddly enough) craving since around the time the outbreak began:

KALE
AVOCADO
APPLES
MANGOS
PAPAYA

All the foods listed above are high in lysine. I am also going to continue with the lysine caps, cayenne pepper (for pain), and probiotics.

My face is greasy and smeared in coconut oil. I am hoping for some much needed rest and to heal this.
