Hello...

I guess it's about time I introduce myself... since I've already got a few posts on the board!! This is actually my second time on here. But hopefully this will be THE time that I succeed!!! Funny how I add the "hopefully"... it's so easy to be down on yourself.

I'm 33 years old, female, and live in Ontario Canada. I'm actually pretty lucky b/c my hubby has become accustomed to my raw habbits springing up from time to time... so he's become pretty supportive. To the point that we are having salads tonight (his has chicken... but hey... what works).

As a child I had chronic ear infections... a few surgeries and now I just have a floppy right ear drum with hearing loss. Wonder if raw can touch that?? Growing up I ate a diet of potatoes, meat and a token veggie (usuallly canned corn). We might have an orange or apple from time to time to. Needless to say I was sick, often. In grade eleven I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism... put on meds and am still on the same one today. This I know raw can touch... and looking forward to it. Moved out for college and moved into a diet of fast and boxed foods. As an adult I feel "hardly" like an adult as I have a sweet tooth that just won't quit. I crave chocolate, sweets, etc. Eat them and just can't get enough. But at the same time, end up with stomach ache after ache b/c I keep eating it.

I did luck out and find a book by Harvey Diamond back in highschool... so I've been aware of a raw food diet since then. I've tried off and on since then to go raw.

Today I have headaches, back and body pains, sinus pains, chronic fatigue, about 40-50 lbs to lose... and the list goes on. I want and NEED things to change. That is why I'm here.

I look forward to meeting all of you... and learning from others experiences, and having others to share it with who are in this too!!!

Wow...our stories are quite alike, cept I'm up ten more pounds than you right now, lol...oh well, it's a new ten pounds. Likewise I have been dabbling in bouts of raw for a period of years, with a lot of that in the last year. ...many of the same issues, but not hearing loss....and a meat eating supportive husband to boot.
...and I'm from ONT CANADA too!
So, Cheers to raw!

rasiaca... SOO nice to meet you!!! I'm soo happy to be hearing from ppl in the same boat... just for the support system!!! If you're in Ontario too... then you're dealing with the same unfortunate weather... I really cannot wait for spring to arrive ha!! Raw is definitely not something that you can force on yourself... you have to be at the right moment in your life. Hopefully this is "OUR" time!!! I'm already soo extatic b/c I was able to wear my "fat pants" (as I call them) to work today... and just a few days ago I could not for-the-life-of-me get them on lol!! That and the fact that my sinuses are not bothering me as much these past few days. They usually feel full and achey.

Thanks again for the welcome!!

Welcome from another Ontarian!!! I'm in Toronto and just spent the last hour shovelling. Maybe not the smartest thing, since it's STILL snowing
Welcome back to raw though - it is the best journey to be on :)

lol... yeah... I just shoveled after work (in order to get the car in the garage) and I can see that I already have another pile waiting. Well it can wait until morning :p Lucky you being in Toronto... there is so much more to offer regarding raw when you're in Toronto!! We're in lunch-bucket Windsor... so no rawness here... unfortunately!!

I'm just 45 min. north of Toronto. So Hello from up here and shovelling LOTS!!!
I've got about 20 lbs. at least to loose. Every day is such a challenge. My hubby is real good too , he eats what I put in front of him. This Sat. I'm going to a raw food class (I've been going for awhile now) but I think this Sat. my hubby is going to come with me, since the class is on Heart Health. My hubby had a heart attack in Sept. He's doing well , but he knows he needs to do more with his diet.
I wish you luck - I know this is the only way that works for me. I'm insulin dependant diabetic. with high blood pressure and high cholesterol , since following this - less insulin and half of blood press. meds.
Take care . Suzy:)

I go to the one in Newmarket, Ontario - Hallelujah Acres (Get Healthy Resource Centre) 16635 Yonge Street, Unit 24B < Newmarket, Ontario Just south of Mulock Drive. 905-853-7014 - The next class is tomorrow. I go 1 Saturday per month. They have a theme for each class. tomorrow is Food for the Heart. March 15 is Think GREEN - Cost is $30. per person 11 a.m. - approx. 2 - 2:30 - If you want to come. Let me know because if I bring someone new you will get in for $15. and so will I. So it's good for both of us. I really love the classes I learn so much. Usually about 10 - 12 people that attend. We watch Judy prepare -she uses juicers, food processors, blenders, dehydrators, etc. Then the best part is - we get to enjoy a wonderful lunch made of fresh lovely organic lunch. After every class it gives me more amunition to say to myself that I can do this. I'm hoping my husband will come to this one. I've been going for about 8 classes now. Hope to hear from you. Suzy;)
