Greetings, everyone.
I'm from New Orleans, LA. I was raw a while back and I remember I had an immense amount of energy and lost a bunch of weight. I'm so close to my goal weight now, having lost it through a variety of healthy ways such as diet and exercise (both raw and non-raw dieting, too)... Two years ago I was almost 220 lbs, and now I weigh in at 155. I want to lose 15 more pounds and I'll be ecstatic.... and I KNOW I can do it in 30 days with the raw diet and the right exercise.
My challenges will be mostly financial - that is, processed foods are so much cheaper than living/raw foods and I'm on a VERY limited (student) budget... so I need to come up with weekly shopping lists that are realistic.
I think now's the best time for me to start considering I have a supportive roommate who says "just let me know what to have in the house, and we'll do this together!".
I'm currently away from home (in Massachusetts), but in a few days when I return to New Orleans, I want to use it as a springboard to go raw again!
Can't wait to meet many of you!
Danielle

Hi Danielle, So sorry you had to experience the weather in Massachusetts when you live in New Orleans! Anyway, hope you enjoyed your stay.
Wow- what an accomplishment for you - you will be an inspiration for many folks everywhere - raw or not.
Here's my two cents about your budget and trying to be raw: raw nuts will fill you up - so stretch them by mixing them vegetables to make a "pate". (Just make sure the nuts are raw). And go for the things that fill you and are cheap usually, like bananas, carrots or whatever is on sale.
Also, do a search on this forum - there are a bunch of students who are in the same situation with money.
Start your own thread - you will be an inspiration on many fronts!

When she talked about nuts, it reminded me that many times I will replace the nuts in some recipes with some that are less expensive or at least go half and half and it really doesn't make that much difference in alot of recipes...I'm sure there are some that would. I also like to put lots of pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and sunflower seeds on my salads. Good Luck!!!
