You definately need a dehydrator for this one. But when you get one, they are great!

That's good to know b/c I am jonesing for a burger once I get done with the juice feast. I saw that one and another one I wanted to try.

I am not sure if this is Alissa's or not.....but here is the one I found.....

Carrot-Pecan Burgers
A yummy little patty that I make regularly. It was one of my first dehydrator items; I usually put it together in the morning and then they are ready for dinner! Recipe by Alissa Cohen.
Ingredients
4 medium carrots
1 cup pecans
1 cup mushrooms (recipe states "button", but I love using portabellos too)
1 cup onion
3 tablespoons cilantro
2 tablespoons olive oil
˝ teaspoon sea salt
1 pinch black pepper
Preparation
Remember to add some herbs to taste! The original recipe calls for .5 teaspoon each of dried fennel, coriander, and curry…however feel free to play with this and experiment.
In a food processor, blend carrots until diced. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Remove from processor and form into burgers. Place burger on a mesh dehydrator screen and dehydrate at 105 for 7-8 hours.
They darken up in the dehydrator and even resemble a real meat patty, but they taste better than any meat patty!

Just wanted to mention that Alissas pecan burgers are delicious! Good as a burger on its own, or crumbled on top of salads to add an extra boost!
Another good recipe for this is the crab cakes.

Just want to add that those carrot pecan burgers are wonderful. One of the first raw food recipes I ever dehydrated, and still one of my favourites.

If you make the carrot pecan burgers, you MUST make the curry sauce to go on them. They are fabulous together!

Just wanted to add that, these ARE delicious dehydrated...but nut burger recipes can be eaten non-dehydrated as a pate. Have it on lettuce leaves or on some (raw, pre-packaged since you don't have a dehydrator) crackers. Sometimes I actually prefer the nut burger/nut loaf recipes when they haven't been dehydrated! Put the burger mixture on the lettuce and top with raw condiments, tomatoes, onions, etc...that's some good eatin'!

I LOVE this UN-DEHYDRATED as a pate on veggies!

I've made her pecan burgers and they are GREAT. You can tweak the recipe to the ingredients that you have and they seem to always turn out fine. Sorry, they do need a dehydrator unless you want them to be a pate.

I've wanted to try this recipe but I'm very allergic to mushrooms. Any suggestions for a mushroom substitute? It seems like there is too much of it to just leave it out.

I just made this and liked it, but liked it better before dehydrating.

Another one here who LOVES her Carrot Pecan Burgers. I have only had them dehydrated. They are awesome on the onion bread. The Best!!!

I agree, they are wonderful! I've also only had them dehydrated.

I've had them with cranberry sauce on top (one of Alissa's recipes too) and oh my... yum!!

FWIW
For those who need or prefer to substitute something else for the mushrooms, I make these burgers with carrots and celery instead of mushrooms. They still come out tasty to me.

All the best,

I agree with garden granny about the curry sauce to eat with them -- it's very very easy to make and just sets them off superbly! Thank you, Alissa!

I just made these for the first time after reading your post and mine didn't turn brown, but I think it's because I soaked the pecans overnight first. I soak everything because of the enzyme inhibitors and I like the flavor of the pecans and walnuts better after they're soaked.
