Hi,

In my aim to cut my huge 80% fat calories from my raw diet, I'm in need of lots of fruit to get more carbahyrates in my diet.

At the moment I basically make a seed mil (with sunflower seeds) and this drink alone is 60% fat, and gives me around 400-500 calories. So I'm thinking to definately stop making this seed drink and replace with a carb and calorie feeled fruit smoothie to get all those carbs yet still contain the calories so im still not hungry!!

So, can anyone suggest any fruit smoothie recipes, only containg fruit, that is REALLY high in carbahydrates? And colories if possible!!I would experiment myself but i dont have loads of money to burn, and it could cost a lot of money if 4-5 different fruits combined don't taste very good together!!

I would really appreciate any help with good fruit combinations for smoothies... i really think this would help me being raw!!

bananas are higher in calories and carbs so thats a start. then you could always do plain banana smoothie, strawberry banana, blueberry banana, well pretty much anything and banana i would think, except citrus i don't think that would be a good combo, (well my body says its not for me anyways). good luck.

do stawberries/blueberries etc high in carbs? I know that thhey are low in calories but maybe this doesnt mean they aren't high in sugar/carbs?

A strawberry/banana smoothie does sound nice tho altho i definately need more tyhings added in to plump it up! I really need this to be really carb heavy!! I have raw organic goji berries so i guess this could be added together too, so if this tastes good, ive got:

bananas
strawberries or blueberries or raspberries or blackberries
goji berries

Can anyone suggest anything else i can add to this and still taste good!!?

I second the banana- this could be your base and bananas are inexpensive and have decent carbs and calorie content. Blueberries are also higher in carbs and would be a good addition. The fruit that goes above and beyond in carb and calorie content is the raisin - WAYYYY above the rest! Now I have soaked dates and put them in drinks/smoothies before, but not raisins. So I guess I didn't help much.
My morning smoothie is 1 whole orange, 2 bananas, 1/2 cup+ blueberries. If I didn't then add a bunch of spinach or a bunch of kale, I would probably add more bananas and pineapple. Banana+pineapple+blueberry+flavour=YUM!

My personal fave:

Fresh squeezed juice of one orange
Equal amount of water or juice of a second orange for more calories
1 frozen banana
1/2 C frozen pineapple
1/2 C frozen mango (frozen mango and pineapple available cheap at Trader Joe's)
1t -1 T cocnut butter or oil (optional, as it adds fat, which you're trying to avoid)

Blend like crazy!
For my money, it's the OJ that packs a lot of calories for its volume.

Adding dried fruits to any combo would boost the cals and carbs WAY up. And there is almost an infinite array to choose from. Good luck!!

One of my favorite combinations is: froozen bananas, fresh squeezed orange juice, vanilla, spinach and if you have it some coconut meat with it's milk. Delicious.

I'm in a rut right at the moment ... I love this smoothie so much I think I've drank it every day for the past almost 3 weeks!

2 c. water
1 large orange skinned
1 Tb maca powder
about 4 cups of spinach (packed in there pretty good)
3 bananas (I use frozen)
Aprox. 6-8 oz. frozen pineapple

This makes about 6 cups of smoothie or so, I drink half of it for lunch and half around 4:00, that and a couple glasses of juice gets me through 'til dinner.

I always use 1 banana (better if frozen) and then I add about a bag (3 cups?) of frozen fruit. My faves are pineapple, cherry, and mango. Calories per cup on these are 130, 185, and 90. Cherries are the highest, but also the most expensive per bag. Pineapple/cherry is a very good combination. And, of course, make sure to add some greens...

Lauxa- I am addicted to cherry/pineapple! but my frozen cherries say only 90calories per cup. Fuuny, they are also the cheapest $2.26 for a 12 oz bag though not organic. Maybe yours are organic? I can't find those here.

You should put a lot of high-carb juice in, like pineapple juice. Drinking juices on their own would be an even easier way to get more calories from carbs.

In the original post it says "I basically make a seed mil (with sunflower seeds)", I assume you meant a "seed milk"?

Banana-orange juice is awesome! I used to buy it all the time and now make some sometimes in my Green Star. I would assume a banana orange smoothie would also be good.

i really appreciate all your suggestions with the fruit smoothies!! I've give some of the smoothies a go and the mybe looking into juices. Your right with the juices tho, it may be easier and quicker to get the carbs i need with fruit juices. just one thing tho... if i decie to add fruit juices, how much is too much?

If i drink the juices thru a straw it shouldnt affect my teeth too much but can lots of fruit juice be bad for the kidneys or anything? Because of the sugar its getting and absorbing very quickly? I'm thinking about 4-60 ounces of juice a day? Is this too much or ok? I'm thinking 20 ounces of orange juice, 20 ouncces of apple juice and a smoothie with the suggestions everyones mentioned? Does this sound ok, specificly the 40-60 ounces of fruit juice a day?

yes i mean a seed milk.. i need to cut down on those!!

I've just re-read one of the other posts.. i didnt realise you meant putting juice in with the smoothie... i may give that a go then! But possible try juices alone too.. would be great if someone couold answer the prev question about if 40-60 ounces of juice (Fruit juice) is not excessive or bad for you?
