I've been browsing the forum a lot over the past week and I've been hearing about these :Dgreen smoothies:D constantly! I've never actually made one before, although I have made green drinks in my juicer. Does anyone have any particularly good green smoothie recipes they would like to share? And are there benefits to making a green smoothie in a blender as opposed to a green drink in a juicer aside from the fact that a smoothie uses more of the vegetable and is thicker?

ooh you have to try them, they're to die for, right now my basic is kinda simple
2-3 frozen bananas
1-2 C oj, I usually use a pineapple orange peach blend (frozen concentrated yes, no sugar though and it keeps me raw)
squirt of agave
dash vanilla
1-2 tsp green powder
1-2 tbs hemp protein

tastes so good, it's green but you can't taste them at all!

I'm new to green smoothies so here's my basic recipe that I have in the morning.

1 ripe banana
2-3 big handfuls of spinach
1TB coconut oil
crushed ice & water

That's it, and it tastes great! I have some mango I'm going to try tomorrow instead of the banana, I'll let you know how it goes. :)

My morning standard is the following:
(this is per person)
one orange, peeled (sometimes sub a grapefruit)
one banana
other fruit like pear, apple, etc...
two big handfuls of spinach or other greens
frozen fruit to top off
Yum :D

My favorite green smoothie recipe is:

1 1/2 cups water
Squirt of agave
Stevia to taste - I use three packs because I like my smoothies sweet.
4 cups baby spinach (or other greens)
frozen mango
frozen pineapple
frozen peaches
frozen strawberries

This one is bright green, which I love. I love to see the chorophyll that I am about to put in my body!

If the "green" puts you off, try this one:

1 1/2 cups water
Squirt of agave
Stevia to taste
2-4 cups baby spinach (or other greens)
frozen blackberries
frozen blueberries
frozen cherries
frozen raspberries
frozen strawberries

This one is purple and you would never know the greens are there!

My basic smoothie recipe is

2 bananas
large tablespoon of nut butter
3 handfuls of green vegetables and I vary these between different lettuces, rocket, spinach, chard, kale and watercress or a combination of these.
I prefer it room temperature so no frozen ingredients.
Sometimes a dash of honey.

My fav is pineapple & parsley. Banana & dandilion is good too. I like to keep them really simple. :)

1 bunch bananas
3 handfuls spinach or kale
1 bag frozen berries
T coconut oil
cocao
enough water to make it blend well

1 whole orange
2 bananas
1/2 cup blueberries
2-3 cups spinach

Sometimes I will add a little parsley - I like the taste of parsley with the fruit. I don't like my smoothies too sweet, but will occasionally add a chunk of pineapple if I have it on hand. I also find this to be a cost-effective smoothie recipe - I find it too pricey to add pineapple or mango every day - oranges and bananas are super cheap!
plus they are mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Veganforlife, I don't think I've ever come across this group of smoothie recipes. They look so good. I need to stop being afraid of adding fruit, I guess. I just so don't want to gain weight. But many around this forum seem to believe that the mixture of greens with fruit will not contribute to weight gain but only to good health. I will keep trying.

I have a good amount of weight to lose and having all the fruit in the green smoothies has not made me gain yet, I've only lost weight. Slow and steady. :)

wow Ambug, I am so glad I just happened upon your post here tonight. It was just what I needed to read as I have been pretty discouraged with my weight today. I will keep on keeping on. Thanks.

Today was my first time using cacao in my green smoothie.
I usually just through stuff in until the blender is full, but my guesstimated measurements are:

1 basket strawberries
3 cups spinach
1-2 Tbsp Agave
1 Tbsp Cacao
Enough water to blend it nicely

It would have been even better if I had a banana to throw in.
