Does Tahini go bad?

I was making something with almonds, tahini and nectar. When it was all mixed up and I tasted it had a yuck taste to it. It left a bad taste in my mouth.:eek: So how long does tahini last?

Did you taste the ingrdients seperately to make sure it's in fact the tahini?

I don't know how long it lasts, I keep mine (home made from sesame seeds in food processor) in the cupboard, as my store bought black tahini does not mention refrigerating.

My store bought raw tahini does have an expiration date. It says it lasts approximately seven months and that it should be refridgerated. I know tahini that has not gone bad has a strong taste which can be a little offensive sometimes. I like it but there's no question that it can be too much on the palette some days.
