So I would like to add 2 or maybe even three knives to my raw kitchen....I'd love to know what brands and what type of knives are your favorites. Looking for some good advice....THANKS!! Judith:)

Hi Judith,

I got some Henkel knives for Christmas from my husband - they are very nice and I can pop them in the dishwasher. But from experience, I think it's most important to have a knife sharpener (electric) because this will keep your knives (whatever they are) in good working order.

There's nothing more frustrating than a dull knife when cutting a tomato, huh?

I am a trained chef and have use a lot of knives. I Love my Global knives. I have this one:

I have also used Wustoff and Henkels. You should go to a store and feel them in your hand. a good store will even let you cut something. I always get min sharpened every 6 months at the store where I bought them.

These are expensive, but will last you a lifetime.

Note: if the knife has an attached handle you should not put it in the dishwasher. Over time the handle will fall apart as the rivets give way. Just fyi. Since the global is one solid piece of steel you can throw it in the dishwasher with no problem.
