Hey there,
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this before. I juiced tonight after work (carrots and beets) and I became nauseated (I can not spell) and vomited all up. I just don't understand.

A lot of Vegetables are too strong to Gulp down..... (Beets). You must sip them slowly or even Chew them as it goes down. So Sit....Relax and enjoy..

Beet juice is very strong. Make sure that you only use about 2 oz to about 6 oz of carrot. You may want to cut it with a little distilled water too.

Yeah, I can't handle beet juice. I only grate them onto salads.

Yep, the only time that's ever happened to me with juicing, it was with juice with beets.

Happened to me with a shot of wheat grass juice one time. They normally would go down well but I had been eating Chinese food with MSG. I took a shot of grass juice at a health food store and immediately felt like I had swallowed a florescent green light bulb; I went running down the hallway past a line of women waiting for the bathroom, shoved my way past someone coming out of the bathroom, unable to speak, and loudly projectile vomited all over the sink. I cleaned it up and got a dirty look from the women when I sheepishly made my way out........the moral of the story is......you fill in the blank.

I'll add to all the beets replies. I also agree that beets can make it nauseating.
When I put beets, I use a quarter beet per large (650 ml) glass of juice.

Ditto experience. Beet juice is rapidly absorbed in the bloodstream, well most juices are, but this one is super fast and it's powerful. As soon as I drink it I always get a rush that I can feel moving through my entire body to the top of my head. If I drink it too fast, then I get a headache and dizzy. I've even broken out in a sweat drinking beat juice before! lol.

, well I was going to quote her, but couldn't put my finger on it. I read, that next to wheatgrass that beet juice was the the most detoxifying, and Norman Walker, recommends only 3 oz. beet juice in all but one of his formulas containing beet. I use beet regularly, and try not to use more than the 3 oz. unless I am also juicing the tops, then I go crazy. Still, I have never had any of my juices make me nauseous (sp?), but I don't chug, and rather make sure each mouthful is mixing with saliva, dring it in a timely manner. I have, however been nauseated by trying some of the many things that others mention adding to smoothies.

i've never used beets in my juicer but have blended them in green smoothies without any problems so far. they're more like RED SMOOTHIES using this organic mix of:
one whole beet – cleaned and peeled with tops – four or five kale or chard leaves with stems, large fuji apple, couple medium carrots, one large banana, small bag of frozen strawberries and about 20 OZ of filtered water. the fruit, water and all the blended fiber might offset the strong beet flavor, i dunno. tastes great to me!

I've never had that problem with beet juice but all the books say beet is very strong and must be diluted. I ALWAYS throw up weed juice though. I can't tolerate it at all.

So far I have never had that experience. I like adding a little beet to carrot, and I usually add some celery as well.
A smoothie (or soup) that I love is like a beet borscht, with a whole beet (app 2"), beet leaves or spinach, some tomato, some dill and lemon, some cayenne, garlic, miso (or Bragg's etc.) and some cashews to make it creamy. That mellows it out considerably and is a great spicy savoury drink.

When I was pregnant, ALL I craved, almost the whole 9 months, was BEETS! I (we!) just couldn't get enough, raw, cooked, juiced, grated up on every salad....
...when I birthed Hannah, I hemmoraged, almost died...my midwife & Dr. said I easily could've, (lost more than half the blood in my body, was aneimic for a few months afterwards...) except my iron count was nice & high, & my blood really healthy...I know it was cuz of the beets!
Other times, I haven't been able to juice them, the taste has been too strong, unless diluted with water, & juiced with greens...
...this morning, I drank some Pure Essential (brand) Greens concentrate (powder in water) put a bit too much in my water, & chugged it down....then threw it up! Almost all over my computer, managed to turn my head enough to miss...
...won't be doin' that again...

Wow! What a story, so glad you recovered. :) How could you be anemic with the iron so high? I never thought of beets being blood thinners. That must be the reason.

Maybe don't combine your vegetables. Have carrot juice plain and try the beet juice plain.
