You're welcome Doe...

I think Coach Tara is pushing 40 years old. I'm looking forward to it meself. Between work and looking for a new home I've been slacking off on the workouts. Now that the latter part is done (Yayyyyyy!) I'll be back to working out again. She's doing some AWESOME stuff, eh?

Thanks for looking. :)

Here's the guy who created the Primal Nature Workout ~

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDN9hZGjtzA&feature=related

He's Coach Tara's teacher and been mine for over 22 years. Introduced me to raw foods; got me through most of my neurosis' (kept a few and call them mine) :D... His name here is Zenkahuna... I know him as Sifu and Rocannon MacGregor.

Enjoy!!!!

Revvell,

I've been watching the videos & then I tapped into Rocannon MacGregor, his blogs~fabulous. I am so inspired. This is such a way to live/play.

Reminds me of Rocky both the 1st one & the one when he went to Russia & asked for a cabin in the woods with nothing but nature. He used the sledgehammers~etc.

Also, what a way to let go of any frustrations. I Love this! Very inspiring!

It's cold outside but I'm bundling up to start my Northern MI version of Primal Nature workout.

OK~so I want a sledgehammer for Valentine's day! LOL:D

Thanks for sharing,

Lana

OK, I'm hooked on this !

I just did an hour in the snow by the water/ice. I used trees for my obstacle course, ran through the snow & really got my heart rate flowing, did pushups against trees, did pretend jump rope as I don't have one yet, did the rope moves, even though I have no rope & I can soooo feel my endorphins flowing.:)

I climbed huge snowbanks, even did ab crunches in the snow agains rocks & danced in the snow. Ran backwards/sideways, in fact, it's all about freedom so I cannot even remember what all I did but I just moved, breathed worked up a sweat & really feel great. Before I knew it, an hour had gone by.

Enclosed are a few pics. I am so hooked. This getting fresh air even when it's cold is a must for me. Thanks Revvell for getting me the info.

Lana

PS, What is great about all the parks during the winter, is you have the whole place to yourself!!!:D

Just came in from another Primal Play session. Denny has to drag me inside so we can get our paperwork & business stuff done. I am hooked on this!

It is really cold out today so I am really layered up~big time but I did up & down snowbanks, again running tthrough the snow, but my favorite thing was when he got me the Pick AXE ! YES !!! I pummeled a snowbank, knee deep in snow, what a great workout & it's just plain fun!

Also used a log as weights & did some Indian club type moves with just the one! Also used snow/ice pieces (large) as a Medicane ball type thing. Did some snow yoga/breathing for a great cool down ~ a bunch of stuff...Very fun.

OK, Get out in the snow & PLAY!!!! :)

Enjoy,

RJL

BTW ~*Vanity* disclaimer...I am not as big as the pics look, I am extremely layered up. Isn't it a shame that I have to add that.:o OK,, let me have it gals....;)

duly letting you have it! approximately how many inches of layers did you add, so we get a clear picture of your actual size. or maybe you should just post the bikini pics already so there is no confusion. :)

all jest aside, you are very inspiring running around like a crazy person in that freezing cold snow! i salute you! you look Go-go-gorgeous!

MB,

NO bikini pics ~yet! I had MANY inches on & the flannel jacket is huge on me. I still have a ways to go to where I want to be size wise, but I am happy with me at this moment as well.

I just want other gals to know how empowering it is to swing a pick axe!:D

It's time for us to step outside our comfort zones which I have embraced big time (you have no idea as I hated the cold) & PLay!

hey rev, have you heard of/seen youtube videos of people doing this in the city? i really want to start doing these kind of workouts but parks here are mostly small green spaces with no interesting architecture/steps to work with so i'd like to get some ideas. i'm not the most creative with movement yet, still self conscious and lots of inhibitions.

its a beautiful day and i'm going to give it a shot right now... we'll see how it goes. :)

Hi Beckx,

Well, I do all my stuff in my yard now and before, when living in an apartment, did it at the park. Of course, I'm not doing the stuff with a sledge hammer or throwing rocks but, I'm doing Indian Clubs, the small fitness balls, hula hooping, kettlebells, rebounding and bodyweight exercises. All of these can actually be done w/in about a 10x10' area, long as you've got space overhead for the clubs.

The heavy rope needs some room but a small park might work if there aren't trees in the way.

Yeah, I know about the inhibitions and not wanting to do new stuff in public. Best thing to do is do it as soon as it's light out. You'll beat most people up and out there.

I know they also use products from here: http://www.lifelineusa.com/. I know they use C-bands; I think the Lifeline Gym; medicine balls and kettlebells. Don't know what else from there.

Hope that helps some.

HOW COOL IS THAT! I am many hundred miles away this lady, but I SO want to do that too! Right now I'm at the point of being proud of myself for rebounding hard for 10 minutes and staying on the elliptical for 20 minutes! :o I'm not overweight, but seriously UNDER-FIT! I'm tall and long-boned, with very little muscle tone. I've had painful knees since I was 12 or so, and raw is helping them little by little but it means exercise is new to me. What's my next step now that I've been doing light cardio for 8 weeks or so? Help! :D
My kids and I will be having so much fun at the park once this snow goes! With a 2 and 4 year old, exercise pretty much has to be part of life.

Revvell

Use the snow!!!! I showed a friend these videos and she went out in the snow and used it for her primal play. When I was a kid, I couldn't wait to bundle up and go out and run in the snow; throw snowballs; make snow people. Use whatever is available! Shoveling snow is a good workout. Why wait?

You can also get some dvd's for the rebounder from http://www.urbanrebounding.com/. On the dvd I have they advertise a whole selection of them for doing all KINDS of stuff!

awesome, thanks! i went out tonight with my neighbor and we did some of the squat type walking exercises and upper body resistance against walls, and then we found some green space along a school to do some handstands and somersaults. we must have looked ridiculous to cars driving by but it was way easier to try it out with someone else who had no idea what they were doing. still don't know if i'd do it on my own in middle of the day. early morning sounds good, still working on that early rising thing. it was awesome though, i feel so much more energetic and happy than i feel after a standard gym workout.

i completely forgot about hula hooping. i was doing a lot with the hoop when i had a yard but since i moved last year i put it away and forgot about it. yes!!!

...or, maybe they were envious. At what age do we stop playing? I'll bet if you keep it up, you'll get a bunch of people wanting to join you because they are in the same situation you are in ~ don't WANT or can't afford to join a gym; or, are maybe embarrassed because they've gained weight; don't know what else to do....

So, suggestion, start a meetup where a bunch of you get together, share ideas about doing body weight exercises; get some medicine balls to throw around, etc.

Jump rope?
