Hello All,

I am having a personal dilemma :( as I am trying to be raw and organic when I eat and drink foods. When I get apple juice from the store it is either raw or organic. I go through a lot of juice as it is the base of my daily green smoothie. I am looking for your thoughts on drinking pasteurized organic juices versus raw non-organic juice. Which is better for you or which would you choose and why? Also, if you have any other tips that would be great! (I realize juicing myself would be the best choice.)

Thank you,

Sharon

Hi there Sharon,

When I drink pasteurized organic juices they really upset my stomach and digestive system. I believe the sugar percentages listed are not always accurate and I'm still extremely sensitive to ingesting too much processed sugar. I prefer to juice my own apples and other fruits for this reason. I am moving away from purchasing anything in a bottle when I can. Sometimes when traveling I will revert, but generally I make my own fresh juices from strictly organic produce and my body is happier for it.

I'd get a cheap hand juicer, that's what I take with me when we travel...it was around 2 bucks. I also use it when I only need one or two oranges juiced. Judith:)

You can always use just water as a base for your smoothies.

If you are using really juice fruit, such as oranges, in your smoothies, then you may not even need to add any liquid at all.

I would avoid pasteurized juice at all costs. Pasteurized juice has none of the healthy enzymes that fresh, raw juice does. Organic is best, but raw is more important.

I think you are better off using water or fresh juice. I don't see how any packaged juice can have any nutrients left in them.

I am looking for your thoughts on drinking pasteurized organic juices versus raw non-organic juice. The difference between "canned" juice and fresh made juice is the same difference as between cooked food and raw food.

i have to say i definitely feel "weird" after canned juice... sometimes i think it's OK and buy one and Always regret it- my stomach gets all upset and...yea i guess it's better to just avoid those

I remember reading somewhere about how the good fruit gets sold in produce department, the bruised, ugly fruit gets canned, made into apple sauce etc, and the stuff that is nasty (with worms and stuff) gets made into juice.

Ewww. Now I really won't ever consume that stuff again! Wormy apple juice! Yum. Lol.

if your having trouble affording or even finding a supply of organic vegtables...i really recomend checking out how co-ops work. you can easily find around 10 families or people that would be into it and have organic produce shipped to you for really cheap in bulk, direct fromt the farmers so you're not paying the middle man costs.

for sure, go organic raw. you can do it. there really are ways, you are in control of your reallity. you'll even make some new friends in the process.

all the best, j

Thank you everyone for your replies. I forgot about some of the things that is done to pasteurized juice. It simply doesn't make since to buy it. It is just juicing is so costly and time consuming. I am definitely going to look into a co-op! That will help tremendously. Also a small juicer may help as well.
