Has anyone ever heard of this? It is usually when it is cold out. My finger/fingers will turn completely white, as if there is no blood in them, and go numb. Seems a little odd. I've never noticed it before. What could it be?

It could be poor circulation, something like that use to happen to me.
I've started taking gingko and cayanne pepper, it has helped a lot.
I also suffered with leg vein problems and now with being raw and taking the above mentioned i'm doing much better.
My feet don't get as cold as they use to but my hands still do:) .
Hope it get's better, i know it will.

What you're describing sounds like Raynaud's disease. I have it. The blood vessels don't dialate properly in the cold. How long have you had this happen?

Hey Vegiemel,
I've just noticed it this winter. It is definitely a new symptom. It seems to be getting worse. The other day is the first time it was all my fingers on both hands. It was kinda scary. Looking up Raynauds's on google does describe the symptoms correctly. I wonder if there is anything else besides cayenne. I'm not a big fan of it, but if it works.....
Thanks for all the help everyone, I appreciate it.:)

I purchase it in pill form at the help food store as well as the liquid gingko.
Make sure you get the correct heat units in the cayanne pepper the higher the better for circulation problems.
It really worked for me.

I've been having the same problem lately, but I haven't quite figured out what's causing it since it seems to happen at such random times. I heard about Raynaud's, but I also heard that it can be a symptom of vitamin B deficiency. I'm just monitoring it carefully for now so that if for some reason it does get really extreme I can try some possible remedies out like adding a vit. B supplement.

Thanks, Bethanie. I'm going to get some this weekend. I'll certainly give it a try and see if I notice a change.

The most helpful thing for me has been using hand warmers. They are little packets when exposed to the air generate heat. You can stick them in your pockets or hold them in your hands. Here is one brand: http://www.warmers.com/ItemDetails.aspx?itemid=HWES40&pkey=Products%7cGrabber+Warmers%7cMini+Hand+Warmer s+7%2b+Hours+(40+pair)&pval=0%7c1%7cHWES40&pIds=Showcase%7cCategoryID%7citemid
You can also buy them at sporting goods stores like Sports Chalet.

I was talking to my friend about this very same thing today and she seems to think its some form of detox for me. its only the ight index finger and half of the middle finger. I don't know how far long everyone here is in their diet changeover. i am at about 2 weeks and it started a couple of days ago.

This happens to my DH when we are outside in the cold for any length of time. Didn't know it had a name.

Definitely not encouraging to hear this. I had this experience only once when the mercury dropped below the expected in our place. I attributed it to the cold only as I was never aware of the specific syndrome that I came to know from here. Temperatures have started increasing here so have to watch out for this the coming winter later this year.

I've read that raynaud's can also be triggered by strong emotions as well as cold temperatures.
also, acupuncture has been recommended

I have had this since forever. I kept walking around the house barefoot all the time, regardless of weather, and my feet were always freezing cold. It got so bad on my toes that the tissue on my toe tips started to split--almost like it was gangrenous. Well, that scared me, so I went to a rheumatologist for testing, because Reynaud's can be (not "is definitely") a symptom of multiple sclerosis, which my mother had.
I'm fine, and don't take any medication for it. What I did do is start wearing slippers in the house constantly, in summer too, and making sure my hands and feet are well covered in cold weather.
I think things like ginger and cayenne could definitely help.

This is interesting. I've had cold feet and hands for years, but this winter after going raw, I had full blown raynaud's syndrome every few days. My fingers would turn completely white. There was no blood in them at all! Very creepy! I wonder if going raw causes changes in the circulation? I would assume our circulation on raw is improving. I hope it won't last forever.
Does anyone have experience with this going away after being raw for a while?

For me, going raw made no difference at all in Raynaud's. I wish I could say otherwise. It sure did help with a lot of other things though!!

Does anyone know what it means when your fingers crack and bleed often? If so, what can I use to treat them?
