I'm on my 33rd day of the master cleanse which I began on New Year's Eve. I thought I'd continue on and begin posting for February even though I only have 7 days to go to reach my goal of 40 days. woo-hoo!
I've been battling intense cravings and a wall of resistance which I believe kicks in towards the end of very long cleanses and fasts. But I am persevering and maintaining my strength. Meditation certainly does come in handy! :D
Health milestones thus far:
Increased energy
Clarity
Upbeat mood
Extremely clear, smooth skin
Very bright eyes, cornea and the whites of my eyes
A general feeling of lightness of being
Increased flexibility and range of motion in my previously injured right leg, particularly my knee
Ability to move through challenging situations with ease
A more alkaline body - no more acidic bubbles in my urine
Inches lost: 4 (abdomen), 2 (hips), 3 (waist), 1 (bust), 2 (thighs)
I didn't have too much more weight to lose, but I'm happy about the additional (fat) weight loss around the middle, my upper arms and thighs
I feel absolutely great, clear, grounded, inspired, and extremely proud of myself for cleansing my body and major organs for the entire month of January! I know I've set my year on a very high vibration and I look forward to continuing the momentum eating living, whole foods.
LIFE IS GOOD.
Happy Cleansing All!
Love,
Crystal

Day 34 is here! Just 6 more days to go and I can have my delicious and delectable glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. mmmm....mmmm....mmmmmm!
I'm inspired on this day...feel very joyful and centered. The deeper you travel into this healing desert, the more profound your experience of healing the body. I'm transcending many current challenging areas of my life with ease and clarity. I'm traveling with a heart opening wide to unlimited possibilities.
Amen to that.

I would definately recommend reading Stanley Burroughs' The Master Cleanse. There is a wealth of information about the MC on this forum and on the net.
I believe the most important aspect of it is to prepare yourself mentally in advance and to understand it is not a weight loss program but a deep cleanse of the colon, liver and other major organs/systems. The longer you do it, the greater your detoxification. Weight loss naturally comes when you lose fat weight because toxins love fat! Our fat stores soak up the toxins like there's no tomorrow. So when you begin to clear the toxins from your body, the fat stores can breathe a sigh of relief and let go and literally flow.
Love your body as it is and see yourself the way you want to see yourself. Don't focus on what isn't working or you will simply continue to create a process that isn't working for you.
The master cleanse works if you understand how it works. Learn more about your organs and how your body functions and the weight will fall off. Especially if you're transitioning to raw foods post cleanse. :)

One of the essential elements that can set you up for success with a 10 day or longer master cleanse is to prepare in advance. Here are some things you can do if you’re considering completing a long master cleanse:
1) Create a list of all the things you love and appreciate about your amazing body
If you can only include one thing on this list this is okay. The purpose is to begin to train your mind to focus on the positives, rather than the negatives. This will make a world of difference in helping you focus on your long-term goals, rather than worrying about how much weight you’re losing each day for example. If you want to go a step further with this, strip naked, that’s right just like the day you were born. Stand in front of a full length mirror with bright lights and really take yourself in, turn around and look at your backside also, experience whatever emotions come up and send your body love -- love every bump, scar, roll of fat, saggy this or that as well as what is wonderful in your eyes. Give yourself a big hug and thank you body for putting up with you all of these years! Sure you sometimes put water in its gas tank, instead of fuel, yet it has forgiven you and kept going somehow, breathing, digesting the food you give it and providing energy to you without even asking for a commission. If you really think about this, it’s a miracle! Now is the time to put the most highest quality, supreme unleaded fuel in your gas tank. Love and appreciate your body and learn how your organs function, learn about nutrition and what foods your individual body needs, we’re all different and so are our bodies. It will return this appreciation a thousand fold by providing you with sustained, abundant energy and vibrant health.
2) Create a list of your highest health and life goals
They can be anything, make sure you’re shooting high, even if they seem impossible. Write them down anyway. Pick out the top 5 that you’d like to work on now and just keep them in your thoughts or if you already have experience with this, do your thing! I will elaborate on this later during the fast.
3) Meditate
Meditate and/or practice deep breathing a few minutes each day if possible. Five (5) minutes works as well as thirty (30) minutes or more. There is no pressure to conform to any ideal or perfect way of doing it. Find some quiet time, where you can be with yourself, find a comfortable chair to sit in or sit/lay on the floor, put on some music that you love, light a fragrant candle, close your eyes and practice deep breathing for a few minutes. Turn off your phones, the computer and let those who live with you know you’re going to be away for 20 minutes to an hour so they’ll respect your space and time. As you get quiet, you will begin to feel peaceful, you may experience stress surfacing, or your mind may wander with random thoughts…this is normal…just keep breathing and remain with this peaceful feeling, focus on your breath. Deep Breathing will keep you grounded and also is a great stress reliever. Over time, it will become easier and you will discover your own unique ways to meditate.
Next pretend your toes are like jelly and feel very light, work up to your calves, your legs, your thighs, feel loose and light, your groin, your rear, your abdomen, your lower back, your back, your chest, shoulders, feel yourself getting lighter and keep breathing. Really feel the muscles in your arms, hands and fingers relaxing. Relax all of the muscles in your neck, especially the back of your neck, your head and your face. Breathe and relax.
When you’re ready, and feeling very relaxed, in your mind’s eye with your eyes still closed really see the body you’d like to create and the health level you’d like to attain. Hold the picture of yourself with lots of self-love the way you envision yourself, mind, body and soul. The mind-body connection is real and the only thing that your body will focus on is what your mind is thinking when you’re making a change. Hold highly vibrating thoughts about yourself. Your body will follow your lead, so to speak, so give it something good to create! Make this visualization light and fun, breathe your enthusiasm into it and ask for guidance and pray if need be. Do this whenever you inspired to do so at least once or twice a week, eventually leading up to a daily practice of meditation and visualization. It’s fun to do this! Especially as you begin to see results and start to realize you’re no longer sweating the small stuff in life.
Create a Symbol
It also helps to create a symbol of your fast or goals and place it in a visible location so that you can look at it frequently. Doing so keeps you tapped into your amazing power and your goals with very little effort. During my last fast, I used bright crayons and markers to create a beautiful sun to symbolize my fast. I drew two, and kept one on my nightstand and the other on refrigerator. Every time I looked at it, I was re-inspired and I remembered my goals. It really motivated me to stay on track. Note: You can also create a treasure map or collage of your aspirations and your MC. Or simply keep your goal list visible. You can be very creative with this process. Listen to yourself and discover what works best for you.
4) Before you begin your fast read Stanley Burroughs’ Master Cleanse handbook
It’s a quick read at only 30 pages and it will answer many of your questions before you begin. It will help you tap into your personal reasons for detoxifying and cleansing your body. It’s helpful to read the brochure because it will also keep your energy focused on your goals, rather than worrying about if you’re cleansing the right or wrong way. Knowledge is power.
Here's a free copy http://healthandlight.com/TheMasterCleanse.pdf
5) Begin to eat well and take steps towards improving your health now, before you cleanse
Choose more fresh fruits and vegetables (including lots of green leafy veggies), raw is best. Increase your water intake to keep yourself hydrated. Ensure you’re eating breakfast and getting properly nourished throughout the day. Begin to eat smaller, more frequent meals if possible rather than large meals that will zap your energy, depending on what’s on your plate. It will make your detoxification much smoother and enjoyable if you do this.
6) HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Drink plenty of good quality water before, during and after your cleanse. Especially during your cleanse drink half your body weight in water. For example if you weigh 140 lbs, be sure to consume 70 ounces of water daily.
7) Keep it to yourself for the first few days. As much support as you feel you might garner from others for taking this huge step for yourself and your body, you're bound to run into a skeptic or two which can derail your enthusiasm and make you doubt what you're doing. It's really nobody's business but your own how you choose to heal yourself and improve your health. Many people will project their fears and ignorance onto you, not unlike what takes place when you share you eat raw foods. It's the same energy, you just need to remain centered and focused on yourself and send the naysayers compassion.
All of this information is really about making a deep committment to yourself.
Much love,
Crystal

This information on detoxification symptoms may be helpful to understand certain times in your fast that may be challenging physically. The symptoms are both normal and to be expected as it signifies the toxins are moving out. While these stages are generally the case, they can vary for everyone and some individuals don't experience any symptoms.

Detoxification Stages
Here is an overview of the detoxification stages during a juice fast. The time periods are a general estimation.
Stage 1 (Day 1 To Day 2)
On the first day of fasting, the blood sugar level drops below 70 mg/dl. To restore the blood to the normal glucose level, liver glycogen is converted to glucose and released into the blood. This reserve is enough for half a day. The body then reduces the basal metabolic rate (BMR). The rate of internal chemical activity in resting tissue is lowered to conserve energy. The heart slows and blood pressure is reduced. Glycogen is pulled from the muscle causing some weakness. The first wave of cleansing is usually the worst.
Headaches, dizziness, nausea, bad breath, glazed eyes and a heavily coated tongue are signs of the first stage of cleansing. Hunger can be the most intense in this period unless the enema is used which quickly assists the body into the fasting state by ending digestion in the colon.
Stage 2 (Day 3 To Day 7)
Fats, composed of transformed fatty acids, are broken down to release glycerol from the gliceride molecules and are converted to glucose. The skin may become oily as rancid oils are purged from the body. People with problem-free skin may have a few days of pimples or even a boil. A pallid complexion is also a sign of waste in the blood. Ketones are formed by the incomplete oxidation of fats. It is suspected that the ketones in the blood suppress the appetite by affecting the food-satiety center in the hypothalamus. You may feel hungry for the first few days of the fast. This effect is temporary. The desire to eat will disappear. Lack of hunger may last 40 to 60 days, depending on whether you are on water or juice.
The body embraces the fast and the digestive system is able to take a much-needed rest, focusing all of its energies on cleansing and healing. White blood cell and immune system activity increases. You may feel pain in your lungs. The cleansing organs and the lungs are in the process of being repaired. Periodically, the lymphatic system expels mucoid matter through the nose or throat. The volume excreted of this yellow-colored mucus can be shocking. The sinuses go through periods of being clogged, then will totally clear. The breath is still foul and the tongue coated. Within the intestine, the colon is being repaired and impacted feces on the intestinal wall start to loosen.
Stage 3 (Day 8 to Day 15)
On the latter part of an extended fast, you can experience enhanced energy, clear-mindedness and feel better than you have felt since childhood. On the downside, old injuries may become irritated and painful. This is a result of the body's increased ability to heal during fasting. If you had broken your arm 10 years before, there is scar tissue around the break. At the time of the break, the body's ability to heal was directly related to lifestyle. If you lived on a junk-food diet, the body's natural healing ability was compromised.
During fasting, the body's healing process is at optimum efficiency. As the body scours for dead or damaged tissue, the lymphocytes enter the older, damaged tissue secreting substances to dissolve the damaged cells. These substances irritate the nerves in the surrounding region and cause a reoccurrence of aches from previously injured areas that may have disappeared years earlier. The pain is good as the body is completing the healing process. The muscles may become tight and sore due to toxin irritation. The legs can be the worst affected, as toxins accumulate in the legs. Cankers are common in this stage due to the excessive bacteria in the mouth. Daily gargling with salt and water will prevent or heal cankers.
Stage 4 (Day 16 to Day 30)
The body is completely adapted to the fasting process. There is more energy and clarity of mind. Cleansing periods can be short with many days of feeling good in between. There are days when the tongue is pink and the breath is fresh. The healing work of the organs is being completed. After the detoxification mechanisms have removed the causative agent or render it harmless, the body works at maximum capacity in tissue proliferation to replace damaged tissue. While a short fast will reduce the symptoms, a longer fast can completely heal. Homeostatic balance is at optimum levels. The lymphatic system is clean except for a rare discharge of mucus through the nose or throat. After day 20, the mind is affected. Heightened clarity and emotional balance are felt at this time. Memory and concentration improve.
Stage 5 (Breaking the Fast)
The sticky, toxic, mucoid coating on the intestinal wall is loose, and the first meal frees it from the intestinal wall. Toxins enter the blood through the colon. The gallbladder dumps its waste in a heavy discharge of bile. This can cause an instant bowel movement upon eating followed by intense diarrhea. If the symptoms are too uncomfortable, an enema will help.
Autolysis
After fasting for several days, the body goes into a condition known as "autolysis". This is when the body starts to feed on itself because you are giving it no solid food to feed off of. Fortunately, the body in it's brilliant design feeds on only the weak, diseased, dying, or dead cells. All of the vital organs, the heart, liver, kidneys, and the brain are spared and because of the absence of all of the sickly cells in your body, your vitals are actually rejuvenated and made healthier because of the clean bloodstream and unadulterated oxygen now circulating throughout your body.

I'm new to RFT and I just wanted to say hello! I was an ovo-lacto vegetarian for about 7 years, and within the past year gone vegan. I have been trying to go raw recently, but have only lasted 3 days at most. I really want to clean out my body to start fresh. So, I have decided to start the MC tomorrow. I have a few questions I'm hoping someone could help with.
1) I have some natural maple syrup, but it is Grade A. According to Stanley, this grade is the lowest in nutrition but can be used. Has anyone used this grade before?
2) Do you guys use the salt water flush daily?
3) What laxative tea would you reccomend?
Thank you!
Crystalzgoneraw-I've been following (and learning) your MC journey. Thanks so much for all the info. I've been wanting to do this again (been many yrs) but couldn't find the "right time". A co-worker asked if I knew anything that he could do for a cleanse...well, here's my "time"!! I started this morning and he is begining tomorrow. We'll at least go through next week. I hope to continue a little longer. I only made it 8 days last time but I was eating SAD. I have different priorities this time. Just wanted to let you know how much you inspired me to take the leap. I know I won't make 40 days but I'll be rereading your journey as I go through this week. Congrats on your milestone and again, thanks!

Subu thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad my experience provided some inspiration. Once you get started you find more ways that you're motivated to do this and to get in touch with your relationship with food, cleansing your body, etc. It's a beautiful thing. I have done 4 MC's in the past 10 months and I think I've graduated from them now. But I wanted to get one 40 day fast in there, before I moved on. :D I will probably do a maintenance cleanse of 10 days every year, but I'm looking into other fasts also -- juice feasting, soup fasts...there are so many options! I do believe the MC is by far the most effective in healing hardcore ailments in the body and giving you a really good cleanse. I'm glad I found it myself...it has helped me heal on a tremendous scale.
I wish both you and your co-worker the very best success as you continue on...
Blessings,
Crystal

Well Saturday is here and I am about to have my first glass of lemonade...and make my picture for visualization.
I am aiming for 40 days. I think it's a good time to do it as in May I start school, and right now I have no job, school or anything...just a whack of kids, which is fine. Also in May and April, it's spring and I want to be clean and light and in a good place this spring. Free...again.
I also need a boost weight loss wise as I just seem to keep losing the same 5 pounds over and over and over and over and over.
But I really am embracing the cleaning and healing aspect of the fast too...it's been many years since I fasted and I actually really want to get clean.
I will have two hard days for sure but I am already working on calming myself and not letting them get the better of me, including not thinking about them too much....Next week will be my first day, I have to be a witness in court, maybe get cross examined I am guessing. I just found out about this two days ago and I am not going to delay the fast because it seems there is always some reason or another like that. So my anxiety would normally be high anyways, so I might be working through anxious tendancies.
The second day will come at the end of the month, a birthday in the house, I might be feeling strong cravings by then and struggle with my resolve to continue, I am just guessing here by what I've read too,
On the upside I am reading the China Study right now and it's really helping me appreciate what I'm doing.
Ok....gonna go get started.
Take care,

Well Saturday is here and I am about to have my first glass of lemonade...and make my picture for visualization.
I am aiming for 40 days.
...
I will have two hard days for sure but I am already working on calming myself and not letting them get the better of me, including not thinking about them too much....
Dear Rasiaca:
I found that taking it one day at a time and remaining positively focused help me reach 40 days. I experienced challenges along the way....intense emotional detox, relationship shifts with family & boyfriend, hard drive crashing and losing 3 years worth of work  , VEGAN/SAD CRAVINGS, and a number of other healing opportunities. I truly believe being on the master cleanse during these episodes helped me ride the wave of change and shifts in my relationships with my loved ones, with myself and enhanced my focus. You may find the same thing is true and it may stem your anxiety tremendously. Prior to going on the cleanse, I was somewhat anxious myself for whatever reason and during the cleanse I was as calm and centered as a cucumber.
Remember we create our reality with our thoughts and you're more powerful than you know. If you affirm you will "have two hard days" you most certainly will. If you affirm and set up your master cleanse the way you want to experience it, you most certainly will experience it this way. I'm sure your visualization board will help you so much. Mine did as well...I created a huge colorful collage of the transformations I wanted to experience and I manifested all of them. Staying focused on the present is one way to stay two steps ahead of our minds, which can sometimes take over the process and tell us it's hard or we can't finish. I say ha! to that. You can do it and it doesn't have to be hard.
Peace and best wishes with court and your cleanse.
Love,
Crystal

Oh yeah I experienced this too...
Keep this in mind, prior to raw I was vegan for 15 years...yet I was craving...
hamburgers
cheeseburgers
fried fish & chips
ham
philly cheesesteaks (grew up in Philly partially - consumed many of these in my youth!)
deep fried calamari, did i say deep fried?!
I've read this is an indication that you're healing when you crave foods you no longer eat. The residue & toxic poisons from these foods are leaving your cells walls, literally breaking apart from them my dear.
Bid them a fond farewell and get ready to soar as your cells rebuild themselves happy to be rid of the stuff that was slowing them down.
Just wait until you start eating raw foods again after cleansing so deeply.
You will feel great!

Today is my first day post cleanse and I'm feeling marvelous. My first glass of orange juice this morning was better than sex I tell you. :p
I didn't really have that much weight to lose, but I did tighten up some due to practicing light yoga and walking 30-45 minutes per day. I'm 5'2 and have lost a total of 17.5 inches off all the places that matter...
Bust - 2.5" lost (well maybe except this, lol)
Waist - 4.5"!!! (i'm now the proud owner of a 28 inch waist - woo hoo!)
Abs - 3"!
Hips - 2"
Thighs - 1" each respectively
The other numbers include my arms, ankles, etc. The boring #'s, so I'll skip those. And with regard to the boobs, I'm actually happy for the reduction. Who says you need breast reduction surgery when you're raw and healing your body?! I must have been storing a lot of toxic fat in my chest. Hello Victoria's Secret - time to go shopping!
I don't own a bath scale and so don't know what I weigh. I would gander it's 117-120 by how my clothes are fitting and this weight suits me just fine. I like maintaining my curves - I'm a woman afterall.
This has been a most enlightening experience and I feel like I've set the energy on this year at very high vibration to achieve optimal health. It will be easy to stay 100% raw I feel because this is all I want to eat. Cooked food, UGH, can't even really type it write now without feeling a gag reflex, just doesn't appeal to me right now AT ALL. I see it for what it is -- something that will corrode all of my body's cleansing work these past 40 days. I pray to keep my mind focused on this truth and to keep the momentum going.
I'm still healing my knee and leg however because my feet are swollen. Where I thought I was done, I realize I still have some more healing to do of the edema and other leg issues. I actually haven't experienced water retention in my leg for months, it was just brought to the surface with this MC so I know it's in the final stages of healing. Ah so the detox is still continuing, but I knew I couldn't go beyond 40 days. I will continue to heal my body with raw foods, fresh air and sunshine. :)
My skin is clear, my eyes are shining, and my tongue is a bright pink. I'm happy and just feeling cleansed within all of my bodies (emotional, physical, mental and spiritual). This cleanse has brought me closer to God. I know we stay away from spiritual talk here, but it is my truth and I'm just stating it without judgement or pretense.
Yesterday I was in the kitchen all day preparing raw goodies to refrigerate and freeze. I had such a good time...the aroma eminating from fresh whole foods was intoxicating and the colors looked even more vibrant than they ever have for me. I've made it a point not to have food in the house (that I eat anyway, I live with SAD person). So I was like a kid in a candy store. I made mock salmon, guac, mock tuna, 1-2 different dressings including this cucumber-celery dressing from another site that smells and looks sooooo good. I can't wait to try it. I also made a few more recipes from Alissa's book and a couple other raw prep books. When I was done everything looked so colorful and pretty staked in the fridge. The only rough part about the uncooking process was when I opened up the avocados for the recipes...Oh my God, it took every ounce of willpower not to lick the spoon or pit, lol. But I managed to get through it.
I have a confession. This morning after my first 3 glasses of orange I just had to take a few bites of the mock salmon because it was the first time I had made it. My goodness it is good!! Thanks Alissa! When I was preparing it I couldn't get over how much it looks and smells like salmon. Wow. So I must've taken 10 probiotic pills today because of my little backtrack there eating food on the first post cleanse day, lol. I don't recommend doing this, but you know I think my body is okay. Especially since it's raw food and has been well blended and well chewed by me I'm not experiencing any gastric distress.
The master cleanse has been a great healer for me these past few months in combination with eating raw foods. This is the fourth long cleanse I've completed, the first 40 dayer and I believe I'm done now with the MC. I will just carry on with my raw food lifestyle to further heal. If I feel the need to cleanse or fast again, I plan to try a green juice fast, juice feasting and or soup feasing. Back to my orange juice and I pray for strength to only consume orange juice tomorrow also. I may have to hide the mock salmon in the back of the fridge. Out of sight, out of mind!
Thanks for listening & have a great day all!
Love,
Crystal
Crystal, thank you so much for your email. I will enjoy it throughout this journey. Congrats on completing your milestone. Are you swimming in that OJ? Yesterday was great. I wasn't cold at all and only had the slightest headache. Woke up with an awful headache in the middle of the night, though! Just went back to sleep. I woke up feeling wonderful today! I think being raw for several months has made all the difference in the world. So proud of myself for cooking for dh last night without a problem. SWF this morning. No problem with it at all. I thought about others having such a problem with it. I did the MC yrs ago w/a friend. She told me she looked forward to it every morning as it reminded her of a rich broth. I've always looked at it that way and I think that's why it never bothered me! And I think my mind is in just the right place for this cleanse. I am so excited about it and am not feeling hungry at all. Just totally embracing the experience and waiting for my detox! Will embrace that too as part of this wonderful journey! Thank you so much for your encouragement and suggestions.

Hi Susan!
Thank you also, you're an inspiration as well and I hope that you experience wonderful results. I actually think the cleanse simply helps you maintain the high vibration that you already achieve eating raw foods. It just helps move through the detox a little faster.
I agree with regard to the salt water flush. I never experienced any problems with it and looked at it as a cleanse of the toxins. I'm glad you're having success with it, I do know that some struggle with it. It may be hard for those who are overly toxic at first because there is so much impacted waste in their colons, so it either doesn't work or makes them feel nauseous. I'm so glad I never experienced this, but I feel for them and I know it will pass the longer they stay with it.
I am swimming in this orange juice. The bite of mock salmon that I had actually quelled my appetite so I'm merely sipping on a glass of OJ, thinned with some spring water. It is delicious! Takes like sunlight. :D
Be well and stay in touch.
Love,
Crystal
Crystal, I know you're done but I'm hoping others will chime in that are cleansing this month so we can keep a dialogue going. You're the resident Master MCer! This is my third day and it's going so well. I embrace those little hunger pains as "control". No headache today. Waiting for something bad = detox....waiting...?? I guess I shouldn't ask for it. I'm feeling great. Had tons of energy yesterday. Not as much today, but already noticing my sense of smell improving! Not unbearably cold like I remember being in the past. No worse than on raw. This is wonderful! I truly believe that it begins and ends with your mindset. I am realizing this in all areas of my life. I have always been very pessimistic, negative, etc. Raw is changing that and this MC is making it so more obvious! Just loving this so far!

well I started on the 9th and promptly quit that afternoon. I want to try this again though....i even still have the lemons and stuff....part of my problem was that I learned I had to attend court as a witness the following week (which has just past) and that COMPLETELY threw me. Now I'm ok...nothing anxiety producing in the foreseeable future!
I seem to have food addiction issues and am desperately trying to free myself. Although not too much so because that's the nature of addiction, isn't it?...that and food is good for Survival and all.
Anyways...I do still believe in fasting, I have done it before and I know it can feel very good, rid you of sugar addictions and stuff, clean you out, and so on....

ok well I'm aquarius....which means tomorrow is a good time for me because Aquarians beat their own drum, or dance to their own beat or whatever the heck that saying is.
:)
So tomorrow HERE I COME, for real this time. Or maybe not. But I really really want it to be real this time because I'm tired of being such a quitter all the time, lol.

Drink the senna tea in the morning if you don't want to experience the SWF explosion around others. It can get kind of tricky (and painful) when you have to get in the bathroom, 4, 5, 6, 10 times as the salt water is releasing. How do you politely tell someone to get the hell out of the bathroom now?! LOL.
Or skip the tea and SWF that morning. Do the flush later in the day when you have a couple of hours to yourself. Just make sure your stomach is empty and you haven't had the lemonade drink for at least 90 minutes before doing a SWF late in the day.

hang in there earth sista, the stage you're in is a huge blessing. all of those pesky food cravings hanging out in the crevices of your mind have nowhere to hide and are on their way out. i would list all of the food cravings i beat, but i will not do that on this thread for obvious reasons. i no longer crave any of my old vegan favorites...i only want to eat raw!

Thank you so much Crystal - I really enjoyed your posts. Very encouraging.

I had a salad. but have to start again tomorrow. Day 1 over again. Morning is good - but then I just had to eat something. Chew!!!! I'll try again tomorrow. How the heck do I do this.?????I have so many problems - I really need to do this. Diabetic, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. Anybody else in the same boat. I really want to do this. Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks Suzy

I am on my first day today. I was feeling weak hearted for a bit and just read a bunch about a bunch of people on another board doing it, and now I feel better.
I'm excited that I get to do my first tea tonight and SWF tomorrow. ....yes, I know, it's nothing to get excited about from what I've read, lol, but I'm hoping it will further inspire me :)

All that's been coming out of me is liquid, from time to time some residue, but aside from that nothing much!

I am so confused. I have definitely heard of Master Cleanse for 10 days at the maximum,, but how can one master cleanse for FORTY days?! is that not unhealthy? especially on some days only drinking water, i don't understand how you can even get up and walk after forty days of having nothing in your system. i was thinking of doing a cleanse, but my thoughts were more like lemon water in the AM, and green smoothies during the day, with tea at night? i tried the lemonade cleanse once but i didn't like the mix and ended up not eating anything for 5 days and then completely binging.
i was thinking of doing a cleanse for 10 days starting this saturday, as i have a break off school (it's hard not to eat anything when you're surrounded by others in the canteen!) but now i'm not sure what to drink during my cleanse.. and surely i can't just drink water for 10 days?!
insight please! :D

VIVID LILY, The thing that has helped me the most, as I'm on day 2 of my second MC, is understanding that there WILL BE really tough moments, moments of mouth watering cravings and incomprehensibly horrible feelings of lack and need. and you have to prepare yourself before the cleanse by saying to yourself that you WILL experience these moments, but these are all a part of cleansing process and you would not be cleansing if you did not go through this. People make it sound easy b/c there are so many positives of it and that is what is posted, but really it isn't easy, that is why so many people in the world DON'T FAST because it's actually pretty hard! There are ups and downs and try to take each one as it comes. Enjoy the ups and when then downs come, realize it is just a moment and it won't last long.
I wish you the best of luck with your master cleanse.

Lavie Claire - it is a MINIMUM of 10 days and upto 40 days safely, maybe longer for some, depending on the person. If you read the MC book, it talks about how a person gets all the nutrition they need during this time. People even exercise while on the fast. Which I find mind boggling, doing cardio?? OhMyGoodness!!

Priscila - I don't know how people get solid BMs. On my first MC it was liquid all the way, same with this one, on Day 2 and haven't seen anything solid in my toilet for at least 24 hours.
I'll keep you updated on the consistency of my BMs
if you do the same for me:D
FYI--Crystalzgoneraw is no longer on the MC and is keeping us updated on her progress. She did it for 40 days and now has squeeky clean insides!!
IMO, you really have to get your mind wrapped around the cleanse before you begin, as Amyambro1 stated. It's a control thing for me. "I'll eat later after I'm clean". I'm starting again this Friday. Hoping the best for everyone.

Ummm, excluding the first couple of days when the SWF flushes out solid waste...on all of my cleanses it was mostly liquid and that yellow mucus stuff coming out of my colon for the majority of the cleanse. The mucus was released daily for 40 days and I know there's still some in there! After 20 days or so impacted waste started showing up which is freaky. It didn't happen every day, I would say the solid waste appeared maybe 4 times during my total 40 day cleanase. There is no fiber in the lemonades so anything solid coming out of your body is old, impacted, putrified waste - it's gross and it smells really bad! Like the most toxic stuff you've ever smelled. Better in the toilet than in your colon though and this is the whole point of healing your colon I believe. It's kind of exciting actually because you know you're really cleansing your body when you see solid waste showing up in the latter stages of a master cleanse.
It's perfectly normal to have liquid eliminations throughout the MC, it really depends on your body and how much you're healing. It now takes me only 24 hours to have a solid BM the day after I break the cleanse. And three weeks post cleanse, my BM's are out of this world, let me tell you! They are HUGE and don't break up. It's just one continuous elimination which it doesn't feel like when you know...you're letting it go. It's a shock when you turn around and see it. That came out of me? They become just like they're supposed to be, like when we were kids with healthy colons. :D
Quick edit: The more lemonades you consume, the better cleanse you will get. A lot of people get frugal with the drink and get in less than six because they think it will help them lose weight. It will not, it will just make you cranky because you're not getting enough nutrients. You really should strive for 6-8 drinks per day or more. The more cayenne pepper you can tolerate the better, as this is the key ingredient which breaks up the mucus. I noticed when I increased the cayenne pepper, it really moved the mucus out of my lungs, tissues and colon. If you're wanting to lose (fat) weight, just use less maple syrup. Use 1 tbs instead of 2tbs per drink. If you want to get a really good cleanse and break up the mucus and get to that impacted waste (if you have it) drink more lemonades and at least half of your body weight in water every day. Drinking plenty of water is a crucial part of the cleanse.

Wow Crystal- you are inspiring! I've been following your thread to inspire myself and get psyched up for my 92 day Global Juice Feast. Gosh if you can do the Master Cleanse for 40 days, I can juice feast too.
I'm trying to find cayenne pepper that's the recommended 90,000 heat units. Do you know what voltage you were using?
Oh, and do you know if it'd be okay to juice the whole organic lemon, peel and all, for the MC?
Thanks!

LaiveClaire, the master cleanse is a "cleanse" not a fast. You're basically drinking liquid food. And people have been on water fasts for 40 days, including a good friend of mine. Everything is possible. We humans don't want to believe the truth sometimes, that we will not die if we don't eat. Um, I doing great! I'm breathing, I'm alive, I'm healthy and my colon is healthier than the day I was born. It is super clean and working overtime for me. I've never felt better in my life! Is that enough testimony for you? LOL. I say this with a lot of humor. Read Stanley Burroughs' Master Cleanser if you're really interested in this. It will answer all of your questions.
I really don't recommend doing a water fast if you don't know too much about fasting, experiencing detoxification and all of that. You have to get your mind wrapped around it first and learn as much as possible. I would do a water fast only with supervision at say a fasting clinic if it was my first time. Water fasts are extreme because you go into immediate detox, there are no nutrients entering your body. If you must do a water fast, start with a small water fast, like 1-3 days. The master cleanse I'm biased about and it's easy. And you're not hungry drinking the lemonades. Keep in mind I never fasted in my life until last year! And me, former emotional binge eater! If I can do it, anyone can do it.
Good luck!
Lots of love,
Crystal

Hey Stina, thank you! You're inspiring also and you can do the Juice Feast. It's probably easier than the MC. I feel similarly after doing the MC for 40 days that I can do anything, including staying 100% raw.
I was using less than 90,000 units because at my co-op it was not organic. I chose to use the organic cayenne pepper which was something like 65,000. It worked for me. Next time I will research finding the 90,000 units that is organic.
I've heard of people juicing the entire lemon, but you need a vitamix or other super high speed blender to do it. Stanley Burroughs mentions the pith is good to juice. I steered clear of this however because it would cause my body to go into digestion mode and I became hungry, so I simply juiced my lemons and limes with a citrus juicer.

I am on Day 3 of my 2nd master cleanse and for some reason have tons more questions now that i did on my first one.
It's Day 3 and I am feeling very flighty, almost jittery, have tons of energy and my mind is reeling at 150 miles per hour, granted the thoughts are mostly positive, excited, silly, and sometimes make me smile for no reason, but I jsut feel like I'm all sugared up or something. Is this from the maple syrup b/c it has so much sugar? Is it common to feel this way in the beginning and will this fade away so that I soon start to feel more grounded? I'd really like to land soon. I feel like I'm flying right now and it's making me uncomfortable.
I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, and have had panic attacks in the past. Now feelings are coming up that I'm not getting enough nutrients and this cleanse is going to kill me, or something. This is a terrible mindset to have on the cleanse, though, I know. My body just feels really vulnerable right now, and I almost feel like I'm entering a territory that I shouldn't be. My heart is beating REALLY slowly. Is this normal? Sometimes I feel my heart beating once really hard in my chest, is this panic? I panic really easily. . It's something I am learning to get over.
I was raw for about 8 months or so before starting this MC. Will I be ok? :::need some support:::

stina- i haven't done the master cleasne but am thinking hard about starting it in the next few weeks. the recommended amount with the cayenne pepper (90,000) i have seen at www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com. just go under the herbs and spices section which is listed alphabetically and it is under the p for pepper section. they have a few different heat levels, but it's only $7 for a pound. i don't know about it being organic, but they have told me that all of their spices and herbs are either sun dried or dried at around 105. (unless it says it is roasted). so i just wanted to pop in and let you know where you can get that. i really am wanting to do this (been felling like i should for a few weeks now) and it just seems that the universe is telling me its time as well with all these posts that have been coming up about it and the fact that every time i think i have a question about it and am getting ready to post someone else asks it and i get my answer. so i feel this is a "sign". i just watn to finish the groceries i just bought the other day.

so I suffered through my panic attack and made it out alive. I have been dealing with anxiety feeling arising a lot lately, the MC makes them so much more apparent, but I'm working on dealing with them as they come up.
I'm on Day 4! And besides my little issue yesterday, it has been going fabulously......
The Master Cleanse transforms my life ALWAYS for the better. It puts me in a better mind set overall and puts me back in balance. I am so grateful to have found it!
