Someone posted this recipe somewhere on here - it's from Cousin's book, Rainbow Green. Haven't tried it yet, but will soon! Sounds fab! If you try it let me know how it is!
Chop up:
2 carrots
2 celery
1 red pepper
1/4 to 1/2 cup leek
Add about 1/4 cup olive oil and a touch of Celtic salt, stir it up and put it in your dehydrator for an hour.
During that time in the food processor add:
1/2 cup soaked sun dried tomatoes (I add more)
4 tomatoes
2 avocados
1 T ginger
little more Celtic salt
2 T Chili powder ( I add more)
2 t ground cumin
and cayenne (anywhere from a titch to 2 t of the stuff. HOT!)
Mix this with the veggies above and put it back in the dehydrator for one more hour.
So good, so quick. Yum.

Alissa's Chili Recipe in her book Living on Live Food is to LIVE FOR!!! It makes a lot of food and is excellent with the Onion Dip! In Joy!
I haven't yet tried Alissa's chilli recipe -- must do so -- but I have made the Cousins one many times and I can vouch for its deliciousness...

Can the Cousins chili be made without the dehydrator? Does the dehydrator just warm it up, or does it change the texture of the veggies?

Yes, ditto to the dehydrator question? Can this chili be made without it?

I made Alissa's chili with sprouted lentils instead of barley.... It was YUMMY!! I just LOVE the chili sauce, too! Easy and Delish :p

The chili from the Rainbow Green cookbook is awesome! Especially if you sneek in a couple more avocados.:D I have made this one many many times, sometime with the dehydrator, most of the time without. It is awesome the next day after the flavors get to know one another! I make a huge batch almost weekly as it is my hubbys favorite and he takes it to work for lunch.

Do you find that it keeps fresh well? I am just one person eating raw in my house, and my soups often make too large of a recipe for me to eat at once and them they go bad. Like I made Alissa's broccoli soup (so good!) and it went bad in three days. Is there anything special you do to store your soups?

The longest it has ever lasted in our house is 4-5 days and it was still good then. Maybe a tad bit watery, but stir it up and you don't even notice.
Thanks mellow for posting this recipe - and OP for asking, I never would've thought of raw chili. Delicious!!! Mine's 'simmering' in the dehydrator right now, but I had a mini-bowl of it cold and it is soooo good!
My alterations: made 1/2 batch, no salt added
Veggies - used onion instead of leek, and doubled the celery
Soup - no avo (I'm out), sub'd olive oil & some miso (my soy-less nama sub); used a slice of fresh habanero and a slice of jalapeno, instead of cayenne, added a clove of garlic
For those that aren't totally against alcohol, try it with a tiny splash of red wine added. I had some w/out, then added it. Good both ways, a little closer to traditional chili w/ the red wine. (Sad, meat-eaters version, since the meat's usualy cooked in red wine).
Anyway, thanks again, can't wait for it to be nice & warm for dinner!!!
To those who wondered whether you can make the Chilli without a dehydrator, the answer is yes, and I often do so. It's very yummy either way, actually.

My non-raw hubby LOVES this chili too (although he prefers it a bit warmer in temp than 'raw')

I just want to add that after seeing this posted the other day I had to try it out. I made the recipe earlier; I have it sitting over a bowl of warm water to heat it up a bit. It tasted great when I was "sampling earlier" I didn't have leeks but added red onion and garlic (I love garlic) to mine and a few extra spices. I wish I had a camera.....

It's me again...one more time....
That chilli recipe was RAWSOME.....
To whomever it was that created that recipe...thanks. That hit the spot; I was looking for something with more substance. I can't even it a lot of it because it's so filling. I'll have some with one of my meals tomorrow. I'm going to have to try Alissa's (I've got to hunt down the person I loaned my book to:D ).

I finally made the chili last night and OH MAN was it good!!!! Carnivorous hubby loved it too! This will definitely help me through the cold rainy Irish days when I'm craving something warm and comforting.
I don't have a dehydrator either.. I just warmed it gently on my oven's lowest setting.
going to go eat leftovers now! :D

I also have tried Matt Amsden's from RAWvolution.....DH who is NOT raw really liked the taste! I actually didn' even need to use the dehydrator either, I just put all the stuff in and blended it in the blender. I didn't have the "toppings" he listed, so I left them out. It was still a really good chili! I like Alissa's too, and the recipe that was listed I have made MANY times and my sad friends who tried it loved it too.
I like the Rawvolution chili too :)

I had an amazing chili from Carol Alt's book The Raw Fifty. I can't remember what the recipe was though, and as it's currently back in the states and I am in Canada, it is hard to get. However, I remember chopping up veggies and making a marinade and marinading them all night, the next day they had a great cooked consistency. This recipe was great for those of you who don't have a dehydrator!
