I just found this great blog with pics of this delicious banana and strawberry ice cream coming out of a Champion juicer, do any of you have one?
What are your experiences with it?

Yes, it makes great "ice cream" yet, I'd rather use my fp. Faster and easier clean-up.

Great Icecream! I love it, my kids love it..everytime i have friends over and demo the icecream making they cannot get over that its just fruit! Its a great machine. I have had the same one for about 17 years!A couple of times I have replaced a part (because I lost it) and the customer service is fantastic. Small operation.

It's great for making ice cream, but for juice, in the same price range, I prefer the omega. The pulp coming out of the acme is pretty wet.

Just a thumbs up for the champion - I love love love it! I use it for juicing, grinding, ice cream, and I use the blank plate for homogenizing. Where would I be without it??? Also - they really build them to last. And customer service is really good - have contacted them for questions/etc...
I recommend it ! :D

I only mentioned Icecream as that was your post, but i should go on to say I think its a great juicer! Really heavy duty! I have been really happy with it for juicing , love making nut butters,etc... I am unusually fond of my "Champion"(lol). I can really see it lasting another 17 years and that says a lot.

I was blessed to pick one up second-hand for $75, an investment that was manifold for my health. Now the green lemonade concoction is a staple in my diet that has brought me much vitality. My landlady used to put through small amounts of wheat grass through hers that was cut really short along with her carrots, has been for twenty years and was pleased with the results. I'd like an Omega but am making do very nicely with my champ. My only complaint is.....they're just not cuddly in bed at night!

I'm excited to read this thread! I just got one off ebay with all parts for $100!
I can't wait for it! I have been juicing the old school way, with my vita mix and a strainer and spatula. It takes me 30 minutes to make juice!!!

Yes, I have one and love to use it for carrot juice and apple juice. I have made the ice cream in it and it's wonderful but you can do similar things in a vitamix or food processor. I have to admit that I don't get my juicer out even every week because #1, it's a pain to clean, compared to using the vitamix. I would definately get a vitamix or really good food processor (cuisinart) before getting the juicer and I was to get a juicer again I'd definately look at how many parts you have to take apart to clean after every use. It does work very well and is very durable....works like a champ. Judith

Just thought I'd mention that I replaced the masticating part of the machine since I use it so much- the "teeth" part, just for general maintenance.
I guess I've really gotten the hang of cleaning it up as I drink the juice by first scraping off pulp and throwing it in the compost, spraying it down and then running a bottle brush through the parts while under the running faucet. It's simple habit for me now and I really need the liquid nutrition.

I love my champion juicer and don't find it difficult to clean. I basically rinse it immediately after done juicing. When making nut butter cleaning is a bit more involved, but still wouldn't trade it for the world. The Champion and the vitamix are my two most important pieces of equipment for stay raw

I bought mine for $20.00 at a gargage sale 15 years ago! Only recently have I put it to good use. It used to be a pain to pull it out of the cabinet to juice. Now, I just keep it out all the time. I can't believe I tried to give it to my ex husband! Glad he didn't want it.
I never thought about making nut butters with it. I'm curious as to what the
"blank" plate is, since I don't have an instruction book. There is a metal hard mesh piece I use with it, and always do. Is this the blank plate?
I'm not so crazy about the cleanup either, but it is worth it.
I've got the pretty 1970's - 1980's yellow one!

veggie lover: The "blank plate" is a solid plastic piece that is the same shape as the mesh screen and goes in the same place when you put it together. It does not allow anything to drop out of the bottom (where the juice normally comes out) so it all gets "homogenized" and comes out where the pulp usually does when juicing. You need the blank plate to make ice cream and nut butters.
rawererin: I just got a Champion for Christmas and I love it! I do not find the clean-up to be a hassle, however, I would recommend finding a home for it on your countertop. I don't think I would use it as much if I had to drag it up and down off the counter because it's very heavy. Mine has a home on the counter and a basket next to it that houses all the parts and a small jar of olive oil with which to coat the shaft before each use. If juicing, clean up takes no more than a good rinse off in warm/hot water and swipe with a wet sponge. If making nut butters, I do need to get out the bottle brush and a drop of soap to cut the oils but it's still not that big of a deal. Sooooo, worth it too when you consider the cost of store bought nut butters!

I love my Champ....also got it on EBAY...and it had a grain mill attachment {shhhhh, don't tell Raweater;) ...hee-hee...statement all in fun}!....anyways...I use it a lot....green lemonade...it does my greens just fine...not super, but fine for me.....juices, nut butters, ice-cream etc....
The Blank plate is a solid piece, the same size as the mesh one, and goes in the same place, instead of the mesh one when homogenizing...for nut butters and ice-cream or sprouted grains etc....I believe you can order it thru their webite......

The Champion is a pain for juicing celery. You have to cut it up. The main reason I got a new one was it's a mess to clean up. I don't have a garbage disposal, so I try not to get food down the drain. I have to take the Champion outside to clean it off and I don't like to do that at night, which is when I'm most likely to use it. The Solostar II has very little pulp left so I can easly clean it in my sink. Also, the Solostar II makes more juice then the Champion

I like the Champion for carrot juice and carrot pulp most of all... I use my vita mix for ice cream, but the champion will make soft serve.. both pieces are very useful

you take it outside to clean it??? why?
i use mine all the time. i love it. it takes me about 90 seconds max to clean! it's so simple. i don't understand why anyone would think it's hard to clean. :P
as for pulp... you want there to be pulp... cause otherwise you have to strain the juice. i put my pulp back in the juicer over and over again... till it comes out really dry. this way i get the max of juice out of every inch of veggie/fruit.
you don't have to cut up your celery, just score the outside to break up the strings about every 4". i usually have mine cut up in the fridge at that size anyway... so i just push them through.
i LOVE my champion. i'd never let it go.

my plumbing and septic tank. I have a lot of pulp left on the grinder after I juice carrots or celery.

I so agree with this post, couldn't have written it any better! For juicing, ice cream, making nut butters... I just love this work horse and along with my Vitamix and food processor I don't need any other appliance in my kitchen. Well, okay... my Excalibur too but I don't use it very often anymore.
Love my Champion!!
