Does anyone know of a cheap place to buy chia seeds in bulk? Like 5 - 10 pounds? With good shipping rates?
I've checked on amazon, and there is some sold from RawReform for $8.00/lb, with $4.49 for shipping...but I'm looking for better :)
I HATE to post inquiries like this on forums, so if it's deleted I'll understand...but any help shopping for a raw sista?

THANKS! <3

(What can I do with the seeds? Soak them and make puddings etc?)

These are charging 6$ per pound.

Chia Seed contains the highest known plant source of alpha-linolenic omega-3 fatty acid.
It is also a good source of energy, protein, antioxidants, and fiber.
The seed is gluten free, kosher certified and does not come from a GMO crop.
The seed can be ground and it will not go rancid, unlike flax.
The resealable package contains 99.5 percent pure seed and weighs 1.5 pounds (680 grams)

Just lifted this from the website that I posted a link to.
It says 99.5% pure seed. I dread to think what the other .5% is. I will be looking at my chia seeds a bit more closely from now on.

LOL! the .5% sounds...suspicious.

Thanks for the link! So they absorb 9x their size in water? Sounds filling and hydrating...can't wait!

As long as it's not sold here I don't see it as a conflict. I have actually thought about starting a Raw Bulk thread so everybody can compile good sources to the good of all!!! Isn't it grand??

Anyway, the % .5 percent does sound sketchy, but I would wager that it is mostly hull or other parts of the plant (and yes, dirt and bug "matter").

Oh no! I just noticed: the chia seeds on that site do not seem to be organic; as we know NON-organic foods can be Genetically Modified Organisms or pesticide sprayed, or both:( . GMOs are, of course, uncool because we do not know how their presence in nature will affect the environment. Additionally, according to research, organic foods are said to contain higher amounts of what's good for you (to be general).

:)

Peace,

I get them at my health food store. Best price I've seen.

There are lots of places to buy chia. Hidalgo Foods seems to have good prices, currently $9.45 a pound, as low as $4.80 a pound for bulk.

Beware of those sites promoting and selling chia, especially those citing the research of Dr. David Nieman. Although they will tell you that he is conducting research, what they don't tell you is that his research failed to prove that chia improved the health of his subjects. Read the results at Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise:

I bought some from nutsonline.com

If you are careful, you can find good raw, organic nuts and seeds just about anywhere. :)

I think it's interesting you want to buy a lot of chia seeds but don't know what to do with them. :D

I like mixing them with berry or grape juices, then they seem like a cross between a strawberry and rasberry seed in there.

good luck

soak them first! put them in a jar... with about1/16th chia seeds and rest water, give it a shake. put it into the fridge. go back in 15 minutes and give it another shake. the next day start adding your soaked seeds to stuff. they'll last about 3 weeks in the fridge soaked :)

it depends on which state or country you are from. You can't find this out yourself by google?

This guy came on here and posted twice and both times were to push a product. He is not contributing anything. Am I the only one who thinks that his posts should be removed because that is not why the forum is here.
Am I being nasty here.

Nope! He's been reported. I wouldn't trust the link either. May be just to get your credit card information. Beware of folks like this.
