Hello, All -

I'm 48 years old and have been experiencing hot flashes for the past several weeks. I've been dabbling with being 100% raw for months, but with many 'cheats' along the way. Now I'm at day 3 of a master cleanse and plan on being 100% raw when I'm done.

Does anyone have experience with raw living and/or MC helping hot flashes? If not, is there anything else I can do? I'm not interested in hormone therapy.

Thanks in advance,
Raindeer

Yes I started peri menopause systoms 18 months ago at only 37, whilst still breastfeeding:eek: . I went 100% raw in Oct 07' and ALL systoms dissapeard within one month. The flashes went away. The odd periods; my cycle is now regular and normal. And the weight gain has ceased - I've lost 50lbs to date.:p

I would strongly suggest this way of eating to help with many many issues including easing you through menopause. I strongly recommend including green smoothies in your diet too.

Good luck!

Cheers,

EPPP

I was going through the menopause when I went raw and I went 100% immediatly.
My symptoms cleared up in 3 weeks.

I've had hot flashes since I was 30 and had my tubes tied. Since going raw (beginning of November) they are GONE.

Hi - My last period was in April. So many hot flashes. I tried HRT from health food store. but they made my heart race and gave me a headache. So I stopped. Hot Flashes continued. I only really went 85% raw since Sat. but I haven't had a hot flash in 2 days. Go figure. RAW Food eating really works on so many levels. Suzy;)

I'm in my mid-forties in menopause. I was sufferring the worst hot flashes you can imagine. I was saturated from head to toe. I felt like I was suffocating, and my skin would burn. Sometimes I would almost pass out. Within 3 months of eating raw, they subsided almost completely. Stay the course!!
PS I'm doing the master cleanse too. I'm on day #6. This is the second time I've done it.

I recently did an 18 day MC and during the whole cleanse I did not have one hot flash. Before that, it was really bad with me flashing throughout the day and not being able to sleep for weeks at a time because of being awakened by the hot flashes.

I'm five days finished with my fast and have been 100% Raw and still no hot flashes. This is simply heaven for me!!!!!!

The MC and eating Raw will definitely help.

Ya, I'm 46; been raw 2 years... no hot flashes BUT I am still getting "PMS" symptoms... like really irritable, grouchy... all that fun stuff... last month for the first time my period was 3 weeks late... it really made me sad and I missed it! I never thought I would say something like that. When I got my period I was so relieved to get it... I am not ready for full blown menopause yet.

Thanks to all who responded. I feel much better, hearing all that!

Commoncents - how much weight did you lose on your MC? Are you not tempted by SAD food now? More than anything, I wish to be a happy 'health nut' instead of the SAD junkie I used to be. :-(

VeggieMel - same questions as above. How long did you fast the first time? What were your experiences? So far, I'm only passing liquid (am on day 4) and have a few little pimples. When does the real detox kick in? Do you think 14 days (my goal) is long enough, if I was a beer lover before the MC? :-)

Raindeer: I lost 20 lbs. in 18 days on the MC and I look and feel great!!!!!

I am one week off and as of yet I have not had any cravings for cooked foods. The key for me is having lots of food at home and preparing Raw meals + snacks to take to work with me.

Just keep your goals of weight loss, feeling better, etc. in the fore front of your mind.

We will create the bodies that we've only dreamed of.

Best of luck!!!!

There are several herbal remedies on the market that help with hot flashes, make sure it has Black Cohosh in it. Good Luck!!! Judith:)

Raw maca may help some with hormonal balancing as well.

Best,
