What do you all do with your pineapples?
I've made smoothies with bananas but what else can i use them for?
I would like to prepare a dish using them:) if that's possible.

hi bethanie,
you can use some of the pineapple pureed up and make a raw facial - i know it sounds goofy but pineapples have such a high enzyme content, they make a very high quality facial for pennies. You can mix it with raw oatmeal to make a paste!
okay, but if you are looking for a food reicpe, how about those donut holes i've read about here. search on this forum for the recipe.
have fun, alicia

When I have to much pineapple ripe at the same time I just chunk it up and freeze it for smoothies. But I tried something new this week Pineapple/mango/banana put in the vita mix with NO water added and blend it until it's smooth like a pudding then I layered that with kiwi/blueberries/oranges for a fruit parfait. My kids loved it!

Yeah, if it is going to bad you can dehydrate it (dried pineapple is SO good) or freeze it, chuck it in smoothies and stuff.

Bethanie, I really think you could use ANY fruit that sounds good together like... Banana/pineapple/orange or pineappe/strawberry/orange or pineapple/strawberry/banana or well ... you get the idea :D . You don't NEED a mango.

Here are my pineapple favourites:
-Shredded on the mandolin with pieces of raw ginger
-Puree, freeze it (in ice cube tray works well) and then blend for sorbet
-sweet potato, coconut and pineapple salad (also can add raisins and apples etc.)
-dehydrate and grind in blender to make a yummy dusting powder (to me it is like a type of icing sugar -- do note that my taste buds are different than most because have not had sugar for over a decade)
-dehydrate with any sort of nut cheese on top or plain (this is inspired by a recipe that was posted on this site - called Cheesy Pineapple)
- You may also add pineapple to any carrot cake recipe (just less carrots - there may be a recipe on this site - personally just eyeball it)
Good luck

I normally dehydrate my pineapples, but apparently they stopped selling frozen pineapple chunks at the grocery store, so I'll probably have to start cutting and freezing my own.
I had also once tried a pineapple juice in my Breville centrifugal juicer and it was quite bad (like a tasteless foam) and never did pineapple juice again. However, I got my green star yesterday and tried a pineapple juice in it, it was TO DIE FOR! I couldn't beleive it, the one out of my old juicer was horrible, the only difference in the juicer. I've noticed a similar but not as dramatic difference with pretty much any juice I make with it, it was truely a great buy, and it's so easy to clean! Everyone makes a huge fuss about the cleaning of the green star yet I clean it in 3 minutes, just like my old one.

There's something here. I will have to juice some ginger and throw it on some pineapple... anything else that might go well with this combination?

Everyone makes a huge fuss about the cleaning of the green star...
So true! It's really quite easy, esp. if you have good water-pressure!! Generally, (except for the screens) I just rinse mine until it NEEDS to be cleaned because it's only dirty for a short while AND it's only dirty with juice and pulp, anyway.
I have a "Samson" or "Sampson" (which is from the same factory as Green Stars) only I got it when they were still doing the 10 year warranty... which I probably wont even need because it's more solid than those centrifugal ones that can cook your juice anyway.
WOW, I guess I had to get that out,

My Greenstar cleans up like a breeze. I love it and it is a work horse.

Carrot Cake Salad
• one pineapple, peeled, cored & chopped into smallish pieces
• couple or three carrots finely grated
• handful of chopped walnuts (soaked & dehydrated if you so desire)
• handful of raisins or dried currants or cranberries
• big drizzle of honey
• generous sprinkle of cinnamon
Mix it all together & serve. Don't make it too far in advance because it gets too watery. Enjoy!
OR
Pineapple Strawberry Smoothie
• freshly squeezed pineapple juice
• frozen strawberries
Blend together until smooth.
OR
Pineapple Cranberry Orange Juice
• lots of cranberries, fresh or frozen (about two hoppers-full)
• one orange
• one half pineapple, peeled
Juice together & enjoy!
