Okay gang...it's that time again, to start contemplating whether or not you're ready to take the plunge...the plunge for 30 days to see if RAW is for you!
If you do not own Alissa's book, I highly recommend you get it as it's a great guide and a HUGE encouragement and inspiration!
Just a reminder to all participants...we do NOT discuss cooked food slip-ups in the daily challenge threads. The main focus is to go raw (totally raw) for 30 days but we understand that stuff happens and there is no judgment or beating up for that, but we want to focus on all the GOOD stuff we're eating/doing and not put energy into the other stuff because as Alissa is known to say, "What you feed grows and what you starve dies". So, let's keep the discussions talking about what RAW foods you're eating or have eaten and save the "oopsies" for your journal/blog or if you are having a difficult time with cooked food and need some suggestions on overcoming, start a thread in the main Raw and Living Food Discussion area.
So, for the newbies...the way this works is, starting on the 1st of February a new Day One thread will be posted (and a new one each day for the duration of the month) and you just post what you've eaten, how you're feeling, any changes you're experiencing, etc...anything pertaining to your experience EXCEPT for cooked food nibbles, binges, etc. as mentioned previously.
Thanks and let's see who's all up for the 30 straight days of Raw in February (well...it's actually 29 days...but who's counting? ;))

I've been flirting with the idea for awhile now and have decided to take the plunge. My last remaining excuse was, "But my anniversary's on 2/26." You know the drill. Well that's just fine. I've decided that I'm close enough to visit Grezzo on my anniversary.....and that will be day #26 of the challenge. What a nice reward. I'm really looking forward to the journey.

I'm in. I've been waiting to do thid for a long time, but I was pregnant and then nursing. Well, my milk is gone now (tried my best to keep it, but I have milk supply issues...finally nothing, even supplements, pumping, you name it, was helping). It's depressing, but I'm turning it into a positive by finally going all raw, and maybe doing some colonics and cleanses. Maybe if I go raw and clean out my system, next time I have a baby I won't have milk supply problems! :-)
My husband will also be joining me, although he won't be on the boards here. Yesterday he tried a green smoothie (after a little coersion, lol) and actually said that it wasn,t bad. Wow!

I am coming off a water fast on Feb 2, but I guess water is raw! :D
And now I have no cravings and have been cleansed so I should have no problem with detoxing symptoms (at least I hope).
I am looking forward to this challenge, and have even convinced my mother, brother and sister to go 80% raw in March!

Hi, I'm brand new here, have thought about raw for several years now. I harped on my husband to do it with me but to no avail -- until four years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer. Now he's mostly raw but I'm still not.
I've tried several times, but it seems so hard! And this month, I have several challanges, but "if not now, when?"... I'll need a lot of encouragement, so I'd welcome all the emails I can get. Help me please!!
I'm in, time to get serious I guess.
Started "raw" on Jan 7th, at the time a gradual transition into seemed like the way to go but I just keep eating more & more SAD instead. So 30 (29) days 100% raw, try this Alissa's way. Will definitely need the support offered here, as well as lots of food ideas! My DH is open to trying this out w/ me, (at least during the day, and still eating cafeteria foods at work evenings), which is great, but he's not so willing to just eat fruit or a salad for a meal so have to come up w/ stuff to serve. We've found a few really awesome recipes, and lots we didn't like as well, during the last month; hopefully we'll get more good ones this month!!

No more excuses, I have to finally do this and February seems like the perfect month to take this plunge. If my finances go through, I'm going to try to attend the 5 day training in March so let's get this thing going. Biggest addiction to overcome is coffee so bring those headaches on!

Hi,
I am totally new to raw, having only started researching and learning about it over the last couple of months. My husband heard me talking about it and bought me the book, Green for Life, for Christmas, and we have been sold on the idea ever since. My husband even wants to try raw, which is saying a lot since he never wants to try any of my "crazy" new health ideas! :D He doesn't want to go 100% though. I tried to do the January 30-day challenge on my own, without signing up, just to see how it would go. I bought Alissa's book and DVD and have spent the month trying recipes out--some I've liked, some not so much, but I have loved how I feel after eating this way, and that is what I am hoping will help me adopt this lifestyle 100% for good! My kids are not liking this at all, so I am concentrating on just my husband and I doing this for now. Hopefully, we can teach by example. Anyway, this past month's challenge on our own was okay but not great, so I am officially signing up for February so that I will be accountable and successful.
Thanks for letting me join in. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!
See you on Friday! :)

Yes! Yes! Yes! I'd love to join the 29 day challenge.
Today is actually day 11 for me and I have to tell you all this is the first time in my life that I have ever stuck to anything for longer than 3 days. Usually the self-sabotaging part of me surfaces and talks me right out of self-discipline. I have lost 10 pounds so far. I am down to 168.4. I am so so excited about RAW. I LOVE RAW!!!
I have had many changes in my life and Family in the past 6 months and what a journey it's been for sure. Many wonderful things have come from these changes, including going RAW. I look at whats gone into me taking up this lifestyle and I truely am amazed to think of just how many steps it took to get here. It's like this was meant for me and pre-determined. It could not have happened any other way. So everyday I Thank my Higher Power for getting me here and starting me on this path to my true Christine.
So lets do it. Lets get this 29 day Challenge off to a great start. I am so pumped up for this.

Hello everyone!
I have been on/off (mostly off) raw since January 2006! From then until Oct 2006 I was about 90-95% but NEVER took the final plunge. Drinking lattes has been my NEMESIS! Actually, me sabotaging myself and extending the value, love, and respect to myself that I deserve has been my true nemesis! Whenever my vibrational energy starting humming, deep dark lurking emotions would come bubbling up to the surface and instead of facing them, I resorted to pushing them back down with bad food, old habits, etc. This is not serving me and I SOOOO realize this. I can't deny and justify any longer.
I feel like i am standing at the edge of the cliff....ready to jump...to discover ME...to shed the layers of self-protection that has held me back from fully experiencing all that this life has to offer, to discover my true heart and soul waiting to emerge! I am no longer willing to let fear hold me back. Why are we sometimes scared to truly THRIVE, TRULY LIVE, TRULY LOVE AND EXPAND AND GROW TO BE ALL GOD INTENDED US TO BE??
Let's go for it! I look forward to sharing these next 29 days with you!

Oh and here's a little funny for yas:

Day 1 and just checking in. I just finished eating some grapefruits sweetened with stevia and fresh mint leaves. I will have a green smoothie after my morning workout, a salad later with lot's of raw veggies. Not sure of the dressing yet? And some more fruit and GS later. I'm trying to limit a lot my nuts and dehydrated food. I think I od'd on them last month and felt sooo tired and heavy. Still learning about my body and what works best for me. And still, nonetheless, LOVING the raw food lifestyle. Have a wonderful raw day all :)

I've decided to take the first 10 days of the challenge and go vegetables and water. I've mostly been eating two raw meals a day w/ one vegan meal. I have a tendency to eat lots of fruit, so I thought I would challenge myself to a variety of vegetables this next 10 days and experiment with flavors and textures. Will be going shopping today to get all I need.
Everyday: 3 scoops of lifiber, 3 aloe vera pills, and juice plus tablets (keepin' the colon clean:p )
B'fast: baby carrots and fixing to hit some celery and snow peas
check back-in this evening!
We can do this:D

But I'm only a few hours into it!:D Can anyone tell me about these lara bars, that I'm reading about, and also, does anyone had a good recipe for raw salad dressing without vinegar? Oh, and by the way... Did you know you could grow your own aloe for the green smoothies? I have 10 little plants growing indoors, and just take a half leaf every day for the smoothie. They don't take up much space, and the real thing is always better than something manufactured, (as we all know, or we wouldn't be on this website!) These are really easy to grow. We put them along side our wheatgrass trays on a baker's rack.
Time to go work out!
I've been mostly raw for ten months. joining for the support.

2 - mixed green, avocado, banana, strawberry

I'm in - I've been mostly raw for almost two years but since Jan 1st I've had more slip ups than I care to admit. I need a good kick in the rear. :)

Good morning~!
I've been mostly raw since May of 2006, but this will be my first official "challenge."
Started off the morning with fresh squeezed OJ (24oz) and banana blended in. I didn't care for the banana part and next time I'll just get the straight OJ. I brought tons of fruit to the office (honeydew, apples, bananas) and I think I might go grab a shot of wheatgrass and some carrot juice on my lunch break. Juicing is expensive, but I've given permission to myself to juice as often as I want during this challenge. This is a priority and I'm not going to skimp my way through it! :)

Hi All! ...off to a good start! We are snowed in today....youngsters home from school....snow has stopped so we might go sledding later.........
First thing this morning I had a delicious green lemonade....about mid-morning, I had a smoothie with fresh almond milk, bananas, dash of vanilla and some ground flax seed.............lunch was crisp romaine with a dash of herbamare seasoning....avocado with lime and onion bread too....ummmm...I feel good....grounded.
I have eggplant "bacon" marinating....crackers in the dehydrator now....dinner: corn soup and crackers and salad {can you believe I found fresh corn in the grocery yesterday??...not local! LOL!}
We are well stocked on fruits and veggies and I have "pulp patties" made...you know...just dehydrated pulp from fruit juice!...That's it for now...have a great day everyone!

I think I'm in for February. (Do I need to be more commited than that?)
I was 100% raw all of January, but didn't join this forum.
I want to use this as a place to commit my food each day. That really worked well for me when I was a part of FA (Food Addicts in Rocovery Anonymous). I was required to commit my food to God, myself and my sponsor each day. It really held me be accountable, especially the commitment to God and to another person.
It will also help me to see what I am eating each day because I didn't lose as much weight as I had hoped last month. This will show where I am going wrong.
I will typically committ my food in the evening for the next day, but since I didn't do that last night,
Today's food plan:
Breakfast: 1 pear, 1 banana, 1 orange
Lunch: Avocodo, tomato, green onion. 2 garlic onion snap crackers (Raxanne Klien's brand - delicious!)
Dinner: Large green salad, fudge balls
Blessings!
Happy Day 1! :p
So far today:
Breakfast - plum pudding (bananas, plums, handful of spinach) (after watching alissa's video, & the papaya pudding, I've been making pudding out of Everything lately, lol.)
Mid-morning - Laura bar (chocolate coconut, yum!)
Lunch - 2 romaine wraps (cheese sauce recipe posted here, red & yellow peppers, tomato, spinach, red onion, jalapeno, olive oil, garlic salt) and half a cucumber.
Taking a banana & lemon water back to the office this afternoon; planning on a big salad for dinner, and leftover plum pudding or some fruit for desert.
(Banana's were $.19 / lb at the grocery, so going to be eating a lot of those the next week or so; couple bunches in the freezer too).

Hi Everyone!
I'm in for February, and so excited! Since this is the month of love and chocolate, I started my day with a fabulous dark cacao truffle. Then had two bananas and a persimmon at work, but I'm hungry so I'll probably dive into something more substantial in a minute. I brought cashews, kombucha, avocado, and something I call "leftovers fantastico" (vegetable pulp leftover from juicing, with lots of other stuff thrown in and then dehydrated). I also have raw hummus and carrots, so I may eat some or all of that. I'm heading to the gym tonight to work up a sweat and make some pretty raw muscles!
Rawk on everyone!

Started off very excited this morning. Took my "before" pictures. Drank the infamous green smoothie. Then had a salad with the raw honey mustard dressing and raw fettuccine alfredo. Couldn't finish the meal and have been struggling since. Keeping a positive attitude though. I refuse to give up on the first day!!!!!! Any suggestions on meals that don't require a dehydrator? I do have a food processor and blender. And I've been doing the green smoothie almost everyday for almost a month. My palate is ready to taste something new!

but I am doing okay despite that. This morning I had a green smoothie which kept me full until lunchtime. For lunch I had a banana and some macadamian nuts. When I got home, I was starving and now I realize that I need to buy more food tomorrow, lots more, so that I am more prepared and have more choices. Alissa mentions this in her book--be surrounded with lots of food so that you don't get hungry--and I can see her wisdom now. Anyway, for dinner, I am having portobella mushroom caps stuffed with quacamole, then I am making the chocolate mousse. (I'm a major sweets addict, and I know if I don't have a healthy alternative around, I will be doomed.)
Sounds like everyone is doing great!
Talk to you tomorrow--

So far so good Today. I had an apple and a few berries in the AM, and then for the first time ever I purchased some RAW dehydrated food at Whole Foods. So for lunch I had dehydrated onion crackers and quacamole. OHHH soooo good. But I don't want to get hooked on dehydrated foods so that will be saved for a treat. For a snack I had a tangerine. Right now I'm having my dinner which is a big green smoothie. Usually I wouldn't be eating this early but I'm working tonight. Three nights a week I work at a steakhouse. :p
I hope everyone is having a great day and eating lots of yummy RAW foods. I am so happy with this woe. So far it's made a big impact on my life.
I'll check in tonight after work.

Hello all!
Continuing the journey into February. Felt great after last month's challenge and am now certain this is the lifestyle for me. For breakfast I had raw oatmeal with pecans on top. Lunch, apple and bananas with almond butter. Not sure what is in store for dinner. I really need to get to the store and stock up but it is sleeting and freezing rain right now. Not much fun!!
I hope everyone had a great first day. For those of you that today is truly day one, congratulations! If it was tough, hang in there! It only gets better and the benefits that will soon folllow are incredible and well worth it!! :)

First Day:
Hi everyone,
I either have a cold or I am detoxing so I took a sick day and I’m off work today. Had an antioxidant berry drink first thing, followed by a big shake with strawberries, blueberries, 1/2 banana, raw chocolate, greens and Goji berries. For lunch I had a big mixed salad - lettuce, carrots, sprouts, radishes, avocado, cucumber and pumpkin seeds. I'm feeling somewhat hungry so I'm going to have a LaraBar after I finish this posting and for dinner I'm going to have another shake. Great first day!

I started and got to 11 days in January, but that was juice only. Now it's time to really bump it up.
My office is doing a raw food workshop tomorrow, which definately helps with the motivation and recipes. But Alissa...she's my first raw experience, so I tend to seek her out when I get off the raw train.
But today is a new day!!
Breakfast: spinach, banana, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, hemp protein powder, hemp oil, greens, niacin, bee pollen with coconut water
Lunch: Salad with beets and citrus dressing
Snack: Date Rolls
Dinner: Raw Tortilla Soup

Feeling really good right now. I tried the ravioli recipe from the recipe link. Talk about yum, yum :D
Got all the vegetables I need for this next ten days and looking forward to trying more recipes.
B'fast: carrots, snowpeas, celery, and broccoli
lunch: celery and carrots
snack: coconut water and a few hazelnuts
supper: raw ravioli
I'm glad everyone has had a good day.
We can do this!;)
I almost forgot to join the challenge! I've been 100% for 17 days and would like to join in making a 30 day commitment. It's been a breeze for me so far! I love the food and haven't had a single craving or desire for SAD since day one! I may need to cut back on my fats a bit though. BUT, that will have to wait until after the weekend. I spent most of the day in the kitchen and I have some wonderful dishes to indulge in for the next few days.
I started out breakfast finishing up a couple of spicy meat tacos. LOVE those!
Lunch was baby romaine with shredded carrot and zucchini with a light oil and ACV dressing.
Drank 1/2 bottle of Raspberry Rush Kombucha. I could easily get addicted to this drink!
The rest of the day I just taste tested my recipes. A bite or two here and there. I stayed full all day. Raw recipes are so filling!
I made Ritz crackers which turned out very nice. I made a lovely tomato sauce that I could have eaten a bowl of straight! I had to force myself to save it for this weekend's pizza. I have Veggie herb pizza crust and marinated mushrooms in the dehydrator. And I made "I can't believe it's not cheese" to go on the pizza too. Not sure what else I'll put on it but I intend to load it with veggies!
All day I intended to have a large green lemonade but stayed too busy with my recipes to deal with making it. I hope to have one tomorrow. I'm craving it! How awesome to crave veggies!
So I guess that's it for my first day of the challenge. I'm so happy to be on the forum! I've been reading here for a few months and I just love everyone! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. This is a great group of people!
Good luck to everyone! See you tomorrow!

I got through all raw today!! I had fruit smoothie for breakfast of mixed berries, strawberries, banana, and sesame milk. A gs for lunch of spinach, banana, strawberries, and flax seed. Dinner was a salad and 'pizza.' I made crusts out of veggie pulp, flax seeds, and herbs and keep them frozen. I topped with marinara and raw cheese and one diced olive. Popped it into the dehydrator to warm up a bit while the kids' pizza was baking (we have pizza every Friday night.)
Later, knowing I need a nibble of something in the evening, I started just throwing things in a bowl. Some raw Halvah from Living Tree made w/ almonds, sesame, raisins, olive oil. A little coconut oil, chopped pecans, honey, powdered cocoa nibs, tahini. Stirred it all up with the help of my 3yo :) and rolled into little balls. Put them in the freezer..yum!
Looking forward to tomorrow!
Blessings,

Today I had:
Lemon water w/cayenne

Green Smoothie with banana, green grapes, spinach
Bowl of banana and blueberries
THREE enchiladas (from LOLF)! Yes, three!
A few figs dipped in tahini
Cream of Leek soup and caesar salad

(But even if I would have, I wouldn't have mentioned it!!lol) I figured since I had a victory I COULD mention it!

Happy Saturday - so yesterday I made a few dishes: sundried tomato pate (sundried toms, almonds, onion, garlic, salt, 1 zucchini and basil), donut holes (Ani Pyo's cookbook).
I also spent probably an hour chopping an washing vegetables - I don't know...maybe I just a nerd, but I hate this part - it seems so tedious! Anyway, when I do a bunch of that I feel very liberated (kind of like having a really clean house )
So, I've just gotten back from the yoga studio and I'm starving...so signing off to have some fruit.
Stay raw and stay positive! Alicia

Oh my god, I'm SO glad that I'm doing this with all you guys.
It helps beyond measure that I'm doing this WITH somebody, even though I've never met any of you.
I think the not mentioning slip up rule is also a very good one, it keeps an air of positivity in the thread.
Anyway, I'm very happy so far because I've overcome the danger period, i.e. the morning, when I so want coffee or tea.
I've had no caffeine so far today and that's a huge step for me. I managed to THINK my will power stronger, i.e. constant focus on WHY I'm doing this.
So far I've had 4 small cubes of chocolate and orange brownie with 2 bananas and honey drizzled on top...SOOO good. I also had a glass of orange juice.
Now I'm having green smoothie.
Later on I will probably make raw ratatoilie.
KEEP IT UP!!!

Hey Everyone ...
Day 2 has arrived - actually its technically 1/2 way through. I ended up eating some raw cucumber slices yesterday, and found myself ravenously hungry - so I have ammended my February challenge goal - rather than a gs fast, I will have at least one gs every day, with an ambition to drink as many green smoothies as possible.
today so far I've had:
a bunch of carob-fudgie cookies
and a mixed green, avocado, banana, grapefruit and strawberry gs
Happy Raw!

Also, can you share what you put into the hazelnut smoothie?
Thanks and blessings! Shalom!

I woke up early today and assembled my pizzas. Then I ate 3/4 of one! What a lovely raw treat. Since it was my first venture into making raw pizza I do believe I will be tweaking things a bit (my crust was way too thin for one), but I really enjoyed the flavor. While the toppings were warming I had 1/2 of a kombucha and then an orange.
I think now is a good time to make a large green lemonade. Yum! I'm not very hungry, but I'm very thirsty. MiahTay could I borrow your son! I would love having someone to help me juice! :o
I'll check back in later tonight.
Good luck everyone!! :)

Hi faithjrny!
Sorry I didn't see your question about the lemonade before I posted. I think if you do a search you will find several different ways of making them, but I use -
1 head of romaine
1 big handful (or more) of baby spinach
2-3 apples
1 lemon (including peel)
1 inch of ginger
Sometimes I'll add a carrot or two or some celery. I think some people add cucumber.
It's very refreshing (and addicting) but I have found that it needs to be very cold. I pour mine over a lot of ice otherwise I don't enjoy it.
Hi again all!! Today so far:
Breakfast - leftover plum pudding
Mid-morning - banana
Lunch - Pina Colada (1/2 pineapple, young coconut, handful of cherries, handful of spinach) & a kiwi fruit.
And have grapes in the dehydrator to make apple cookies later: http://www.goneraw.com/recipes/30-Apple-Cookies
Maybe banana-almond butter-flax cracker "sandwiches" for dinner? Banana or orange for a snack this afternoon, whatever sounds good.

But, the husband's plans changed, which worked out great. He offered to go grocery shopping and to clean the bathroom! I don't know what got into him! Well, I've completed the mission and feel great.

Hi all!
So far today:
2 cups of grapes
a handful of macademia nuts
1 banana
1/2 cup of Alissa's salsa (holy smokes is it good!!!) I just got her book last week.
I have her lime pepper crackers in the dehydrator right now. I hope they are as good as the salsa.
I plan on making some sundried tomato bread tomorrow...since my dehydrator is filled to the brim right now.
I have a different green lemonade drink:
10 large apples
1 bunch of kale
4 stalks celery
1 large lemon
Process all ingredients through a juicer, alternating each. Yields 5 cups.
(I have to say that I've never put the celery in...I juiced celery once, which I don't like to eat in the first place, and it overpowered another drink I made. I might become brave one day and juice the celery with it.)

Bfast: handful sprouted walnuts
Lunch had pizza w/ alissa's marinara sauce crust was ground flax and tom. blended then dehydrated.
Supper will probably be rest of pizza, YUM! maybe a salad to go with it.
Oh yeah, yesterday I made "cookies". I soaked flax seed, blended them with honey and cinnamon. Then dehydrated them for about 8 hours. I ate about 10 pieces of them last night! Very Good!:p

Met a friend at Whole Foods for lunch at the raw counter. I got my favorite raw tostada, and an order of their raw nori rolls to go (that will be my lunch for tomorrow and probably for Monday as well--there are a lot of them!). I also had a piece of my favorite raw cheesecake with berries on top and a big glass of fresh orange juice. Yum! Now I am full and happy and snuggling on the couch with my pooch. Don't know what I'll have for dinner; I may just munch on some fruit and kombucha or something. I need to go for a walk, but it's suddenly hot today, so I may wait until it cools off this evening.

This is the first time I've posted this time around, but having a great day two. My goal is to stay completely raw through March. I love how raw makes me feel. Whenever I stray, it only takes a day or two back on raw and my body feels better. Yesterday I was dragging, but today, I feel great!

Wish I had room for a smoothie, too! I just got a bunch of ginger I was hoping to throw in! It can wait until breakfast tomorrow, I guess...
You all sound like you're LOVIN" the raw life!
Isn't it amazing how much vitality it gives us to eat raw???
I'm still so in awe of how quickly things change when eating this way!

Well after a rocky start for day 1, today was much easier. I drank 16 oz of green smoothies for breakfast this morning, then headed to Trader Joe's to stock up on some veggies and nuts. Was planning on getting over to Whole Foods too to get anything I couldn't find at TJ but didn't make it there. (I wish the WF here had a raw bar like some of your posts mention, that sounds so awesome.) For lunch, I had guacamole in romaine leaf roll ups with chocolate mousse for dessert. For dinner, I made the mock salmon and made nori rolls (sushi)--the nori was very tough so I'm not sure what I might be doing wrong but otherwise it tasted yummy. For dessert--yep, you guessed it--the rest of the chocolate mousse. (Thank goodness for all the dessert recipes. I would be lost if not for those. My sweet tooth is unrelenting. I know I need to eventually weed the sweets out--I feel guilty eating them, even though I'm not supposed to feel guilty since they are a healthy alternative--but I find it hard to wrap my mind around chocolate mousse being healthy. It is so good!)
I did have a bad headache this morning which I am sure is detox, but I didn't want to take anything for it. It did wane a bit this afternoon, and now it is totally manageable, so hopefully it won't be there tomorrow.
Thanks for reading. I love having to be accountable. I know this will help me stay 100%. I also want to say how impressed I am with the support and encouragement that I see here. This seems like a great group. I wish you all the success in the world. We can stay raw and get healthy together!
See you tomorrow--

Well,
Just got thru reading everyone's post. I can feel everyone's excitement. It's great reading all the different things we are feasting on.
I listed my b'fast earlier
Lunch: tomatoes, green onions, olives, avocado, and shredded carrots
snack: chocolate smoothie-hazelnut, coconut water, agave, honey and sea salt
supper: left-over cheese and sauce from ravioli mixed into broccoli slaw and dehydrated for about an hour
Had an awesome day and am feeling really good
Chilley was glad to see your post..Glad you had a good day. We had a haystacks at church, but I made it thru just fine.

raw buddha - sometimes if you let the sushi sit for 15-20 minutes the nori softens up on its own from the moisture in the filling. you can also try brushing the outside of the wrap with a little water using your finger and then let it sit for a few minutes.
hope that helps :)

Just wanted to post my dinner, because it was delicious. I had some "breakfast crust" raw flax crackers (flax seed, brown and golden, plus buckwheat and raisins) and some apple/cranberry flax crackers, so I crunched those up in a bowl and added some raisins, cinnamon, honey, and a diced apple. Added a splash of water and mixed it all together. It was really tasty and filling, and I was able to get a good bit of flax in my system, which I don't eat very often. I also took a walk with my dog, so I've exercised every day in February so far! I'm going to keep it up tomorrow too!
Woohoo!

ok. im joining the challenge since i have been on and off of raw a thousand times. i really need to stick with it. really i do. does anyone have any suggestions for a person with a really crazy busy schedule? i'm not good at planning meals and i just want to get up and go. who i am kidding, i need to get up and go. my schedule is really crazy and i have to stop SAD. i'll go all day without eating then find myself in the drive thru to get some quick eats. not healthy...
I felt so good today! I never did get that green lemonade made though. I was reading in another thread and saw a recipe for a smoothie that I just had to try. It was spinach, parsley, oranges, cherries, and banana. It was very refreshing! For dinner I had a mixed greens salad with walnuts and apples. I ate a few bites of cold pizza for a late night snack.
It was a good day and I only slightly wanted popcorn at the movie today. Usually (before going raw) I want and eat a large bag!
I need to get more exercise. I haven't done any for days. :( Hopefully I'll get motivated in that direction tomorrow!
It was great reading all the posts today! It's inspiring and fun to be posting with people who are living life raw!

I didnt have a chance to check in yesterday. These past 2 days I have had fruit for breakfast, raw crackers with nut cheese and spinach leaves for lunch, and salads for dinner. I had a couple of minor slip ups but I am on the right track.
Good luck everyone!

Good Sunday Morning!
I didn't check in Yesturday, but I see everyone is doing really well.
My weight loss has slowed down so I'm a bit bummed out by that. I can't understand. Both Friday and Sat. no loss. Up until then I was loosing a lb. a day. Friday I ate the dehydrated crackers and raw quacamole, and I thought maybe that had something to do with it. But Sat. I had a big green smoothie and 2 salads and I'm up .4 lbs. Now I do know all of the incredible benefits of a raw diet besides weight loss thats why I'm sticking to it. And quite frankly its not all that difficult. I can't believe I'm saying that because 14 days ago I could easily have eaten pizza 24/7 with a side of oreos.:p
This woe makes me feel so good about myself.
If anyone has any suggestions about the weight loss stall I would love the input. Maybe I'm asking too much to consistantly loose a lb. a day.
Anywho I hope everyone has a great Sunday.
Be good to you!
Go Giants:D :D ;)

Hope you are all well. My kids all have the stomach virus...no better way to kill my appetite than THAT!
I'm in the juicing spirit this weekend, what with all that talk of green lemonade yesterday. Here's another variety:
4 apples, 1 lemon, 5 stalks of red chard - it tastes wonderful and has a beautiful color.
Stay positive! Alicia

Hi all,
My first time posting in Feb, had a great past two days. It's amazing, I was out and about doing all kinds of stuff and when temptations came up, I just thought to myself, nope.....I'm doing the 30 day challenge, whatever I eat, it's gotta be raw.
Think I'm gonna make a green smoothie now, and do some recipe prep for the next couple days. A blueberry cheesecake, a tuna salad/ mayo wrap I saw posted here, looks really yummy. Maybe some other stuff.
Off to the kitchen!

rawinspired - don't get discouraged, stay faithful and the weight will come off, but I think to expect a pound a day is probably not realistic in the long term. And as an ex-scaleaholic (not a word) maybe only weigh once a week or better yet .. once a month.
fitme - you mentioned your wonderful smoothie yesterday with collard greens in it - I LOVE that. But another GREAT way to enjoy collards is by marinating them, there are recipes here on the boards.
I'm having a great day so far. My DD and myself just got done juicing oranges and grapefruit .... mmmmm. I will probably have GS for lunch and afternoon snack maybe with a couple of Heavenly Cinnamon Truffles thrown in, then a big salad for dinner.
Have a GREAT raw day!

I'm not feeling a positive today as I was yesterday. But this always happens to me on day 2 or 3 of high raw. I'd almost prefer a headache or flu symtoms over emotionally feeling down, that I can't handle so readily.
No matter, I still had chocolate brownies so all is well with the world.
I had a couple of glasses of orange juice too.
Later on I will go shopping for more bananas and whatnot for GSs and also I might make an energy soup, which I've never done before.
Will check in later!

Hi everyone- I've been getting off track lately but the problem with rationalization is I now know how good I'm capable of feeling. I got this ego! I want to pretend I'm raw, but no, here comes the rice pasta. So I boxed up all of the cooked food that mysteriously crept into my home, and did food prep to be raw today.
I'll put out a prayer for all of us on this thread.
I'm starting off my day with some nice green lemonade. Even when I was starting to eat cooked food, I was still juicing and stopping by the hfs for shots of wheat grass juice. It kinda kept a lifeline in my body open to raw food. I sure pack on weight fast with just "healthy" cooked food! What's this pot belly sitting in my lap?
My magical tool today is going to be meditation.
Thanks for being there you guys! :)

okay,
I know that the day has just begun, so it's a little early to post on the day, but I had to tell you soemthing good that happened this morning.
On sundays we always go over to my wonderful mother-n-law's house for breakfast, and she really is wonderful, I'm not being saracastic. Anyway I took my smoothie and flax cinn. cookies and alissa's book. I was able to read her some excerts and show her some pictures. Then my aunt by marriage (her sister) called and I ended up talking to her and she said how she tried going raw but couldn't last more that a few days. To make a long story short I was able to discuss the difficulties but also the positives of eating raw. I was also telling her about my raw pizza that I ate yesterday. So anyway a very positive conversation!:D
Just wanted to share.

Hi All! Happy Sunday!
Ciara and all those not feeling so hot today...make sure to eat some avocados or coconut...some kind of healthy fats and keep making and drinking those green smoothies! Make something yummy to fill you up too!
Rawinspired:remember the focus of this is to be Raw for a month, try to look at the weight loss as secondary...hard I know, but lets try to be healthy Raw first....I'm told the weight will come off if we stick with it....this was true when I was just vegan for awhile, so I'm sure it is true with Raw;)
Hectic morning today....babes up early and made breakfast for them, then made Green Lemonade for me and my hubby........{I'm looking forward to getting a Vitamix soon to make lucious green smoothies}....juicing can be tedious!....finished making Alyssa's Crepes.......{OHH SO GOOD!!!}....made a quick banana smoothie with ground flax and vanilla...then off to Church........
Lunch was the Crepes which were amazing...my husband enjoyed them as did my kids! Great for a Sunday too!
I have greens marinating for later and will make some more dehydrated cereal too.............probably greens, eggplant bacun and onion bread for dinner...maybe some soup.........No Superbowl festivities or tempations here.......I need to start my weeks menu for meals...I do so much better if I'm planned out.......I feel........good today...slept well, feel lighter...less of a bloated feeling as I had been feeling that way prior.......I'd love to make a dent in the 15 or so pounds I want to drop...but won't check my weight until after a week or so....enough rambling now........have good day everyone! Deberaw, thanks for your encouragement!
I did just as you said and made myself a green smoothie WITH coconut oil...am I a good listener or what? (BTW, you look like Tori Amos! I LOVE tori amos!)
Anyway, yes, today I felt very emotionally bleh and quite fragile. My boyfriend kept asking me if I was ok and hugging me, which was very sweet. Everytime he asked I felt like crying! But I didn't cos then I'd be thinking "why am I crying?" and I'd have no answer! I know it is toxins or something related to going raw cos it happens everytime on the second or third day.
Aside from feeling fragile, today was ok. I was more or less all raw.
For dinner I had cauliflower 'rice' with a sauce of avocado, sundried tomatoes, sunflower oil and regular tomatoes. Quite tasty. I ate it nice and slowly which I don't normally do and this made me avoid the sick feeling I often get when eating a raw meal which I think comes about when my body says, "ok, enough!", and I don't listen, to the point of feeling totally BLEGH!
Umm...so, drinking my GS now which is spinach, pear, banana and coconut oil.
I hope to be in a better mood tomorrow.
Goodnight to you all!

Feeling well today...Feeling less heavy and clean.
Sunday's r usually challenging because this is the day of big SAD breakfast:eek:
Armed w/ my trusty chocolate smoothie... I conquered:p
B'fast: chocolate smoothie, broccoli salad w/ raw marinara and cheese(leftover from last night) and baby carrots
snack: raw granola, wedge of coconut and lifiber
lunch: looked up and it was 2:00PM. Eating salad w/ cashew cheese dressing.
While fixing lunch for the rest of my family I made raw pizza for supper which is warming in the dehydrator. Made extra so I can have pizza two or three times this week.
Supper: pizza and leftover chocolate smoothie (if my DD doesn't drink it first)
Remember,
We can do this:D
Well, my 14-mos old woke up in the middle of the night w/ some sort of stomach bug and has been very sick all day, so taking care of him is my main concern right now; he's still nursing, so trying to stuff as many fresh fruits & veggies into me as I can to make sure he'll get what he needs from the tiny bits of milk he can keep down right now; but all grab-it-and eat quick variety; so far today, I've had 4 bananas (one wrapped in romaine w/ almond butter and honey, while he napped), 2 kiwis, an orange, some cherries, some baby carrots, and a cucumber.

I will try these when I can buy groceries again at the end of the week. Today was my 3yo dd's birthday. Didn't even give the cake and ice cream a second glance! Yahoo!:p Everyone was eating hot dogs and chips and I sat quite content with my green smoothie (had 2 helpings!) and raw veggie plate I had put out. My hubby had me roast the extra turkey he got at Thanksgiving from work, with mashed potatoes and gravy:eek: ...it actually smells good, but more in that fall/thanksgiving way. I don't even like turkey, so that's good!
My oldest dd, age 20, came over with her fiance and I got to see her in the wedding dress she bought...getting excited about wedding plans in the spring! Hoping to be a whole new size for a pretty dress for the wedding!:D
BTW, do all of you weigh yourselves? We have not had a scale in the house for almost 2 years. Can't afford to buy one right now, but I generally know what I weigh by the fit of clothes, and I tend to obsess about weighing in. So, I'm not really sweating it, I just want to feel good and slimmer!
Plan to have a big salad for dinner and that will end day 3 for me!
Blessings,
Lori

well today was a very productive day! I wanted to clean out the 'fridge and ALL kitchen cabinents. DONE IT ALL!
B'fast choc. smoothie
Lunch 1 1/2 small pieces of left over pizza ( thought I'd eat it last night for supper, but I didn't, ate a pear instead)
snack 1/2 apple w/ almond butter
Supper small salad with nut cheese dressing
I'm kinda hungry right now, but i'm also very tired from the day, so I don't know I may go get a pear or maybe I just wait and be very hungry for breakfast.

Hi- it's me again. Wow, I'm in a good space and it's only five but I'm home and relaxed and comfortable and didn't engage in any gratitutious food eating today! I really took me time praying and meditating this morning and established my intentions for the day. It's so so much easier eating raw if I simply don't drink coffee in the morning! I posted post-it notes to myself all over the house last night to wake up to and encourage myself. The blessings of raw kick in so fast- I feel better already.
Thanks!
Wow faithjrny! Good for you for resisting all that cooked food! I don't think I would be doing nearly as well as you who are around cooked food all the time. Chips, ice cream, cake
I do weigh myself but I'm not doing it once a day like I was in the beginning. It's too depressing not seeing the scale move. In the first week I lost 6 pounds! Wow. Since then, 12 days later, only 1 more pound. Even though 7 pounds in 19 days isn't bad at all, that really good first week set up my expectations for more. I keep thinking I need to cut back on fats but haven't really done it yet. I think this may be a really bad time to try though because it feels like I might have some PMS things going on here and usually during those few days each months my appetite is insatiable and I crave sweets. Like today for dinner, I ate an entire raw pizza  about 10"x10". For breakfast I had a "ritz" cracker with almond butter and a small drizzle of honey, and a small glass of green smoothie leftover from yesterday. Snacked on some grapes for lunch. I wish I knew how many calories some of these recipes have. I know we aren't supposed to focus on that stuff while making the transition, but I can't help but wonder. So anyway, I'm only weighing every few days now.
This wasn't the best day for me. I ate too much heavy food and not enough greens. I'm very full from that pizza, still. And I'm thinking about sweets! But I have no room so hopefully I can get through the night without indulging in anything else. I knew the first time I went through a hormonal change raw it would be challenging. As long as I can stay raw, and I feel very confident I can, it will be ok in the end. :)
Congratulations to everyone for doing so well today!

Thanks for that I will look them up. I also want to find the green lemonade!
Today I had another GS with kale collard greens and banana and a couple strawberries for breakfast
Lunch was a salad and then grapes for a snack and
dinner super bowl snacks that included guacamole, veggies and zuchini hummus dip (which was FABULOUS even my family loved it). I also made spicy fries from Alissa's book and was not so exited about them, just kind of okay, but in the zuchini dip they were great!:)
Looking forward to tomorrow

Made it through today all raw. It was pretty easy, except this evening as I was driving home after dropping off my nieces. I pass a lot of fast food places, and I'm always bummed when I have to give my nieces back and go home to my empty house. But I stayed strong and stayed raw, and I'm glad. I've been eating very few veggies lately, and it's making me feel sluggish, so tomorrow I'll whip up a giant green smoothie. I may try to make those kale chips I've heard so much about, since I have a lot of kale in my fridge at the moment.
Today I had two raw chocolate truffles, a banana, and a cherry pie lara bar. For lunch I had half an order of raw nori from Whole Foods and a large tangerine. In the afternoon I ate some raw cheesecake with berries on top, sunflower seeds, and a bottle of kombucha. Then I capped off the evening with cashews and another bottle of kombucha. See? Not very many greens. I'll try to hunt down some good recipes for green stuff. I don't like salads, so it's hard for me to fit in greens, but I think I'll feel better if I can eat more of them.
Oh, and Bananaboat, I didn't make the apple cranberry flax crackers; I bought them. They're made by Matter of Flax. I'm too lazy to make my own flax crackers. :p They were good, but the cranberry (raw and unsweetened) was very strong. They were good mixed in with all the other stuff, but I don't think I could eat them on their own.
Tomorrow I have an all day training seminar on computer software. Blech! I'm not sure what the food situation is going to be, but I'm bringing avocado and onion bread with me, and hopefully a big green smoothie. Now I'm off to bed.
You're doing great everyone!!

Hi everyone,
Today I had my annual potluck brunch with all my girl friends. It was kind of upsetting to see what everyone brought. Most of these women are health conscious (or so I thought), but the majority of food was wheat and meat based. It was a good learning experience for me in that I need to take care of myself when it comes to eating raw as most of the food the girls brought was a long way from being Raw. Next time I will make three or four recipes that I know I can eat.
I decided that I would eat a couple of items but my body had other ideas. I started coughing after each bite and finally had to stop and ended up eating the raw veggies that I had prepared. My nose got all stuffed up too! I realize there are no mistakes but only learning opportunities and this was one of those days. I ended the day on a high note with a large salad for dinner and a handful of nuts for a snack this evening.

Today was a looong, but good day...too busy to eat until just before church, then threw together the most AMAZING smoothie I've ever tasted!!!
~ 3 bananas
~ Big handful of organic baby lettuce
~ 3 kiwis
~ 2 cups cold chai tea
~ half a bag of frozen cranberries!!!
Oh my goodness, it was havin' a party in my mouth!!!
Then I made some dip (sorta like guacamole/salsa) for veggies, & that's it. It's almost bedtime...I'm going to make the same smoothie tomorrow for breakfast (except I have no more kiwis so I'll throw in some pears...)
Got in some walking, lotsa housework, & a little stretching....will do a bit more before bed!
Glad you all had a good day!

Ciarac-
Thanks for asking:)
I feel amazing. Not just a physical change but the mental and emotional change. I have always struggled with my weight. The ups and downs of consuming food really controlled my day to day life. This is the first woe that I have ever been able to stick with. The empowerment I have over my life gives me so much hope and cofidence. I was reading 12 Steps to Raw Food(another great book) and it stated RAW diet has been very successful in treating those with anorexia and bulimia. The author also stated that everyone fits into 2 categories. Those with an unhealthy relationship with food, i.e. eating if your not hungry, compulive eating, etc. suggests going 100% RAW. When a little window is left open to not eat RAW one may tend to begin unhealthy eating patterns. So thats what I did. One day I just said Tomarrow is the day I go RAW. And I did. I love it!! And I love that I am finally doing this for ME.

A little tired after last night's game and a little sad! Oh well, I did eat a ton of raw goodies while watching the game. Super easy and it was great to eat ceral again! Does anyone know what I can do with the amond pulp? I don't have a dehydrator, yet...

My DC are exercising at the moment so I decided to check in here before we get started with our school work. In addition to my carrot juice my food for the day looks like:
GS for lunch maca/hemp seed/orange/spinach/banana/pineapple/flax oil (I drink it in two servings one at noonish and the other around 4:00)
Maybe a couple of Heavenly Cinnamon Truffles for snack
Big salad for dinner
Have a GREAT raw day!

Hi,
What is an oil pull? I have some major detox going on (cough and stuffy nose) and I want to get past them.

Hi- just checking in in the morning to give myself some accountability. I spent one hour doing food prep last night so everything would be done for today. That was smart; I'm more of a night owl so I took advantage of it instead of waking up and being groggy and trying to get food together that would be insufficient for the day.
I made a surprisingly difficult decision to give away my bags of beans to the food share and distribute the home jelly I received as gifts to other people. There was a lot of emotion entangled in that!
I'm excited to learn that there is a raw food support group starting in Eugene, which is more than an hour away but still accessible. It would be so nice to meet other people actually doing this and not be isolated.
Have a wonderful day everyone and blessings on your raw journey.
Good morning! This day has started off so much better than yesterday! I woke up feeling energized. I've lost another pound so that made me happy!
I made Green Lemonade for breakfast. My goodness I love that stuff!
I don't know what else I'll eat today but I do know I'm keeping it light. No nut recipes today! It's supposed to be in the 70's today so I think I'll go walk in the park. I've missed doing that.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! You all RAWK! :D

Where in southwest MI? I used to live in New Buffalo until June of 2007. We looovvvedd it there. So beautiful, and Norman Rockwell esq. We miss it for sure. South Fl. is nice considering we just back from the beach an its Feb. 4. This is our first winter down here so we do't miss winter too much yet.

SMB106,
You can save the almond pulp and add raisins, coconut, or whatever you like and make cookies in a dehydrator. I hope that helps.

Good afternoon from Alabama:D
We're having a wet dreary day here, but that's o.k., because we're still recovering from a drought.
Read everyone's entry and you all sound great!
B'fast: carrots, celery, macadamia milk
snack: Lydia's organic raw cereal with mac. milk
lunch: leftover pizza/salad
supper: not sure
I was so full yesterday. I think the pizza was very heavy and left me feeling very satiated. I guess that's o.k. if you have a tendency to snack, but I was still full this morning. I felt like a MAC truck had run over me. Chilley called me to walk, but w/ the kids just returning from vacation and us jumpstarting school today, I just didn't have the get up and go. Forgive me Chilley!:o
I am experimenting w/ a raw bread recipe. I hope it turns out o.k...My YDD enjoyed licking the spoon so I'll say it's probably going to be good.
Emotionally and spiritually I feel really good.
Physically feeling good, but I've not been walking like I normally do, so I've got to start back again.
It's good to see everyone hangin' in and I'll probably order Alissa's book and CD this week. I heard way to many good things about it.
Remember,
We can do this:p

Definitely order the book and DVD as soon as you can. They are both fantastic! And please let us know how your bread turns out. I have yet to try my hand at that.
Today for lunch I had Zucchini pasta with tomato sauce and minced black olives. It was delish! For a snack later this afternoon I'm eyeing this juice recipe in Living in the Raw called Summer Love. As cold as I've been feeling since going raw, a little summer love might do me good. You juice 2 stalks celery, 1 zucchini, 1 tomato, handful of parsley, and 1/4 cup basil. I happen to have all of that on hand and I think it sounds so tasty! :)

Thanks Roo for the encouragement about the book.
I just finished off a couple of baby carrots. I'm still feeling very full. I think I'll lay off the dehydrated foods for a bit.
I usually empty out much quicker w/ fruits. My body's obviously not used to all this dense vegetable and nut food.
I feel good though, not sleepy and have plenty of energy. I'll be glad to get back to a more fruity focused eating plan. I do miss them, but if I don't force myself I just don't get enough vegetables.
I don't know if I'm going to eat anything else today. I really need to get in a GS. If I do, I'll post it tomorrow.

Hi all. I haven't had time to post in this months challenge, but I hope it's not too late!
I've had a fantastic raw day.
For breakfast I've been LOVIN' 1 chopped apple, 1 sliced banana, some walnuts, mixed with coconut oil, and sprinkled with nutritional yeast and just a dash of sea salt. I am really lovin that.
That was a late breakfast, BRUNCH and then lunch later was 3 clementines, and getting ready to take DD to dance, I've eaten a handful of walnuts and pecans mixed with more coconut oil and nut. yeast.
OK...maybe just alittle too many nuts today, but for dinner I plan on making a GREAT BIG GREEN SMOOTHIE, COMPLETE WITH SEAWEED!! (Just alittle, I don't really want to taste it too much)
OK...I'm done posting. Hope everyone has a great day, what's left of it.

Hi to all,
Well, this is day 3 for me and is almost over.
It was a good day.
I felt more positive today than yesterday and with lots of energy, though only energy in my body, not in my mind (you know what I mean?). Like, I feel dead sleepy and did the whole day. I feel as though I could sleep for 12 hours. I'm a freelance writer so maybe I will!
Today I had:
Lots of orange juice
GS
Muesli with buckwheat, almonds, raisins, dates, and macadamia milk (so creamy)
Some chocolate brownie
I also created some delicious 'tuna' sushi, the recipe for which I posted here: http://www.goneraw.com/recipes/2681-AMAZING-tuna-sushi
Goodnight to you all *

smb - you could mix your almond pulp with honey/agave and add some spices and maybe dried fruit. yum.
today is day 62 for me. wowza. i had a carrot-beet-kale-parsley-celery-lemon-ginger juice and a key lime pie larabar around noon, a gs made of 2 bananas, baby spinach, almond milk, and cacao powder around 3, and just had a bowl of spicy spicy kimchi. i might have some more kimchi actually, it was very tasty. maybe another veggie juice a little later after i hit the gym.
i'm starting a countdown to my juice feast that begins thursday - i'm so excited for it :)

My plan is to make a HUGE salad (after my next smoothie) & just munch on it through the rest of the day/evening! I really do love salad soooo much! Gotta try some new dressings, though!

Checking in, even though I feel brain dead after an eight hour class on computer database software...blurg. My neck and shoulder are absolutely killing me, so I think I'm going to have to break down and take some pain killers. Foodwise it was no stress. I didn't have time to make a green smoothie this morning, so I made the flax crackers/applesauce/raisins/honey/cinnamon concoction that I had the other night. I made a lot and ate it throughout the day. I also had two bananas. I have to say I overdid it on the flax, as I am currently very flaxulent. :p
I'm about to head out to the gym (yay me!) and then to my mom's to pick up my pooch. He always comes to work with me, but this software thing is far away and all day long, so he stayed with grandma. I missed him! ANyway, dinner will be the rest of my raw nori rolls--yum! And probably kombucha. I'm addicted at the moment. Then tonight I am making a green smoothie, since I haven't had one in forever.
Okay, off to change clothes and hit the highway heading for the gym. Rawk on everyone!!

Whooo, hoo! Four days raw, no major problems! My husband and I are still on track. I am soooo proud of him. Last night, the man ate salsa. SALSA! People, he detests fresh tomatoes and onions. Not only did he like it, he loved it! I used Alissa's recipe, but was really low on tomatoes, so I put in a chunk of cucumber to fill it out. It was a little greener than normal, but good. He even liked the raw crackers I bought to go with it. Amazing!
He's had some mild nausea. I have had some really weird dreams, waking up frequently, and a stiff and sore back from sleeping. I expected the back pain during detox...if this is detox. I had a couple of episodes of barely noticeable nausea, but that's it. Do you think that's detox? When do most people start experiencing it? Right away?
Another question I had: I had a bite or two of a Jocolat Larabar last night before I realized the wrapper said only 90% raw. I threw the rest out. But could that tiny bit of non-raw stuff in those bites affect me? Stupid Larabar. My husband pointed out that most of the Larabars are not organic. Time to make my own homemade Larabars, I think. I'll miss the lemon bar, though. I just discovered them, and they are the best ones so far. :(

After all this talk of focus and how great I feel... I fell off the wagon:eek: I don't know whats been going on with me but for the past week I hit a wall around 12p. I am soooo tired. I used to use coffee in the afternoons, I would put my DS down for a nap and I'd get stuff done. Now I could take naps too. And when I'm tired I'm very vulnerable to eat. I thought I was supposed to have great energy. I certainly did the first week although I was a bit sick I think due to detoxing. So now I am just beating myself up.:( I'm totally bummed. whew made it through day 4!
I slept in this morning...that should have told me something.
Went for a walk...started feeling better, but later in the day...I think I have a sinus infection. :( Anyway had a terrible headache, toothache, earache. But survived the temptation of wanting comfort foods...like the homemade bread I made for the rest of the family! :p
Bfast: fruit smoothie
lunch: 1/2 apple with almond butter
supper : I made alissa's tortilla rolled with leftover tom. sauce. After these were warm, I spread the Dill cream cheese dip on top, and then drizzled on some nut cheese that had been warmed in the blender. YUMMY!!! :D Oh and my DH like these too! although he warmed them in the micro. for 30 seconds!!!
For comfort: herbal tea, a handful of walnuts for a snack between lunch and supper.
kpknitech I forgive you for not walking! ;)

Breakfast today: GS with kale, collard greens and banana
Lunch : salad and veggies with the zuchinni hummus dip (I love that stuff!) and some banana and papaya "pudding" which was YUMMY
Dinner: I came home from the gym tired and hungry. I was trying to make the family dinner and knew I needed to eat something myslef FIRST! so I had an avacado and then later made a fruit smoothie with banana, mango, papaya and strawberries....yummy like dessert! Is that okay to eat for dinner? I hope so!
Have a great Tuesday!

This journey has been so awsome. I have learned something new ... I've always known that my weak time is between 3-5:00 pm, and I have found something that gets me over that hump. I make a 5-6 cup GS for lunch and put half of it in the refrigerator. I drink half for lunch then I drink the other half between 3-4:00 whether I think I'm hungry or not and it takes care of any cravings or desire to eat things that I don't want to. I had another great day.

Hi everyone,
Stayed home from work today because I’m still coughing and have a stuffy nose. The coughing kept me awake most of the night. I should be exhausted but I’m not – only a little tired. Had a good day eating Raw. Started the day with a shake and had a salad for lunch with some grapes for dessert. I had a handful of almonds for a snack this afternoon and for dinner I had a few veggies with some hummus and some apple slices.

ive been raw but just signed up for the challenge, so i guess this is like day 1 for me on the board....
have been eating alot of food lately, since with my new job comes the benefit of more organic fruit and veggies than i can possibly eat (we get a box on fridays and have free rein over any of the "cull" or "reject" fruit and veggies :) .... been raw for a while (100% most days) but havent experienced the radical benefits many people have (no weight loss, still not great skin, minor arthritis in finger, pain in joints (knees) etc), so i figured i'd try to consistently add a couple things to my "program" this month, like flax everyday, green smoothies everyday to try to strengthen my stomach acid and thus assimilate nutrients better, which i dont feel like my body has been doing well for years, daily maca powder to try to heal my thyroid, and juice whenever i can, since i have loads of extra fruit and celery (culls :) ) and a few other random extras right now. but sometimes i feel like im trying to cram too much into my body just to get all these things in... but i havent experienced all the great benefits with just raw and not these things, so i gotta change something...
have been spending alot of time food prepping to try to use up what i have, feed myself better, and give myself more variety so im less likely to slip up... feel like im spending too much time prepping though, when i should be working on my unwritten thesis that is due in a week....
Today I had:
breakfast: couple tbsp soaked flax
snack: homemade almond butter with cacao nibs, honey, and maca
lunch; nori roll with raw pesto (almonds, basil parsley salt garlic lemon olive oil), sprouted lentils, apple, tahini, nama shoyu, half small avo)
snack: little bit of dried fruit and almonds out of dehydrator
snack: kiwi, orange, couple almond butter balls
dinner: big salad of romaine, dulse, garlic, olive oil, ground flax, avo
also made work food for tomorrow: kale salad with olive oil, garlic, honey, avo
. sea salt, zuch pasta (just got a cool hand held peeler from whole foods that juliennes/makes spaghetti) with sesame dressing (sesame, olive oil, honey, an orange, half a lime, nama shoyu, ginger), and some almond butter balls, and trail mix (almonds, home dehydrated cherries and other fruit, sunnies, nibs) and washed alot of fruit and put it in my bag too. put some cauliflower-red-pepper-peapod salad with sesame dressing in the dehydrator to see what happens...id had enuff of it, wonder if it'll dry and make a snack.. :D
have noticed that while I LOVE almond butter (homemade, with unpasteurized almonds, so def. raw, ) , it makes me feel really heavy and worn out. same with tahini. im gonna try soaking, dehydrating, some almonds and then make the butter with these and see if it makes any difference.

Good Morning Everyone & Welcome Kaybee:)
Well Today is a new day and I am getting right back on that wagon. 15 days with one slip up is not that big of a deal. What I realized is that satisfying that weak moment was not worth the gratifcation of cooked food. I felt so so down in the dumps, and I took it out on my DH. Oh yeah last night was not fun in my house.
So new beautiful day and I'm glad its here. I'm going to buy some onion crackers to always have on hand. That will help out in weak moments. I'll check back later. Do you think maybe I need a B12 since I get sooooo tired in the afternoon, or should I listen to my body and nap? I prefer not to nap since thats the time my DS sleeps and I can get alot of things done.
Have a really good day, I'll check back later with my food.

Days are flying! I am still efortlessly raw - i still overindulge i guess but i like my raw food more and more:) the colors the freshness, juices....
Spirit high especially that i noticed some changes in my body. The puffiness disappeared. My face, ankles, hands are less swollen and neck! It must be a seaweed and my thyroid healing or no water retention. I like this new result.
Have a great day - mine started with "ceral" banana, green smoothie for lunch:)

Good morning everyone, it's actually day two for me. I have failed on the last two challenges and I am determined to do it this time.
Yesterday went very well, normally I am struggling on the first day but I guess since I have been incorporating more raw food in my diet it's getting easier. I found myself actually craving oranges instead of lays potato chips on yesterday.
I started off the day with a green smoothie and snacked on fruit and flax chips that I made in my dehydrator. I made a delicious cauliflower salad that consisted of white, purple and green cauliflower, red bell peppers, red onions, sunflowerseeds, raisins, olive oil and lemon juice.
For dinner I had a spinach salad and banana chips that I made in the dehydrator.
I am enjoying another green smoothie as we speak. I can't wait to dig into my Nori rolls later :D

Good morning all! My 7 yr. old DD asked her big brother to help her make mommy breakfast. (For some reason she's got Mother's Day on the brain;) ) and they chopped me an apple, sliced banana, clementine in sections, all arranged beautifully on a plate. It was so dear and sweet. They also made me tea. I am detoxing some congestion, complete with sore throat. My body is SERIOUSLY rejecting all the crap I've been eating....well, NO MORE! I will drink extra fluids.
I really wanted to juice fast, which is what I usually do, but my juicer auger is being sent back to the company because of chips...so I'm afraid to use it....so without juices, what should I do? I guess eat lots of cleansing citrus fruits, and maybe a smoothie?? I guess that's my best option right now.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Everyone seems to be doing so great! Keep on keeping on! I could not check in yesterday, just too busy with kiddos and homeschooling and hubby, etc. Was really hungry yesterday. My husband's paycheck was messed up last time and we were shorted almost $400, so grocery shopping was slim. Still, he is so encouraging for me to stick with the raw, he counted out coins and brought home apples and bananas and mangos this morning on his way home from work! I'll have enough to get through until payday on Friday!
My 14yo is doing raw with me, what a sweetie! I just love her to bits! She made us raw banana cream pie from Alyssa's book last night. Yum!
Have a blessed day, all!
I was just reading that Banana Cream Pie recipe in Alissa's book. I'm going to the store tomorrow to stock up on what I need for it. It sounds fantastic! How wonderful you have one of your children doing raw with you faithjrny! I also home schooled. My son is now away at college. It's really hard to be with them all day long for school everyday and then all at once they don't even live in the same city. :( I'm surviving it though, and he is thriving. Homeschooling was such an excellent decision for us. I have great respect for those of you who are doing it!
Yesterday was a really great day and today has started off great as well. I had an apple with almond butter for breakfast and now I'm going to make a green smoothie. It was 81 here yesterday and today it is cold/raining/snowing! What a difference a day makes in Oklahoma!
Everyone sounds like they are doing so well with 100% raw! It's wonderful to hear! :)

Sexy Exy (Excalibur dehydrator) .
I like that nickname, sounds so much fun to use, than just plan dehydrator!!! I may start calling mine by that name!:D
Hi again all - 1 business week down, lol. Great job!
It's definitely an inspiration to read everyone's posts.
Don't have much to contribute today, I caught whatever my son had, so doing an unplanned fast, lol. Wishing I had a juicer right now!

Hey there,
Day five already!! Sounds like everyone is doing good...
Breakfast was a green smoothie, apple pear banana spinach w/ a squirt of lemon juice
Lunch was a Huge tuna salad sandwich, I just love that recipe, and DH really likes it too.
Oh yes, and a teeny piece of blueberry just like cheesecake for dessert.
I ate so much for lunch that I'm not really hungry for dinner, maybe I'll have some OJ or an apple.

Have been very busy but am trying to stay raw. I'm not doing as well as I'd like, but I am also trying to not get too down on myself and rather view each day as a step closer to 100%. I must confess though that I have never been big into veggies or nuts--I do love fruit though--so I'm finding it somewhat hard to find recipes that excite me other than the desserts! Although, I do love my green smoothies (how many of those can you drink every day anyway, i.e., how many ounces? I may just need to focus on just drinking those for awhile until my taste buds get a better liking for nuts and solid veggies.) Anyway, I am determined to find a way to make this work for me, so keep your fingers crossed for me. I really like how I feel with this way of eating, so I will make this work somehow.
beckx: Thanks for the nori/sushi suggestion for helping to make them less tough. I will try it next time I make them. BTW, your kitty is very cute.
Congratulations to all of you who are posting here. You all sound like you are doing great. (And to those of us who aren't being as successful as we'd like, congratulations to us too though because at least we're checking in, being honest and accountable, and making the effort to get there--we will!)
Have a great night, and may tomorrow be even better!

I'm hoping there is no limit! How bad can greens and fruit be for you? That is my favorite way to get some greens that I would certainly never eat unless they were prepared another way! Keep after them!
THis morning I had a GS for breakfast , lunch guacamole with carrot chips and then dinner was a salad. I stopped at the hfs and picked a couple things with one extra being a raw brownie....YUMMY what a treat tonight!
Have a great day tomorrow

Had some challenges today.
Last night I had the worst burps:eek: They smelled like sulphur. I was even making myself sick.
My parents came this evening so had to avoid cooked foods and sweets. Fortunately, I had class tonight.
Energy has increased through today. I hope to get into the bed early enough to get up and get on the treadmill t'morrow.
B'fast: carrots, celery, marinara, cheese, on my raw bread (which turned out very good)
snack: strawberry smoothie
lunch: GS w/ ,lemon juice, raisins, snow peas, nuts and chocolate smoothie
supper: raw pizza and left over chocolate smoothie w/ banana
I really ate a whole lot more today than I have the last couple of days. Glad to see my appetite is returning.
looks like everyone has had a good day.
Remember,
We can do this:p

This day was good. I didn't have any cravings today or temptations. Of course there are always temptations, but they didn't bother me.
A neighbor and her DD came over selling candy bars for a fund raiser, bought 5 for Dh and Kids. But the Holy Spirit had already prompted me to put in Choco. Oatmeat cookies into the Dehydrator (sexy Exy). So the choco. bars didn't phase me one bit! :p
Bfast: fruit smoothie
Lunch: Choco. smoothie
snack: carrots sticks with the dill cream cheese (cashews and dill blended)
Supper: Salad with Nut cheese dressing and last corn tortilla rolled with Tom. sauce with Nut cheese poured over. Yummy!!
Dessert: 2 choco oatmeal cookies (weren't crisp yet, just warm and gooey!)

Hi everyone,
Stayed home from work again today. Still got a stuffy nose but not coughing as much. Had a good night sleep last night. Had a good day eating Raw. Had a shake for breakfast and a large salad for lunch, some hummus and veggies for a snack and since I wasn’t hungry at dinner I had a LaraBar.

Day five and I'm still all raw, but it's been tough. I was whining to myself about it this evening, and then I realized that I haven't had any green smoothies since before I started this month's challenge (which means I haven't had any greens, and few veggies!). Well, duh! Of course it's been hard if all I've eaten is nuts and fruits!! So I am about to make a giant jug of green smoothie for tomorrow. And I've been jonesin for some juice, so I think I will just do green smoothie and juice tomorrow. This software training has been torture, and my already messed up neck/shoulder cried uncle today, so I've got a doctor's appointment for tomorrow. I haven't seen my doctor in 2 years, so it should be interesting. I love him though, and I know he'll help me out instead of pushing the drogas. One of my good friends is a physical therapist, so I'm going to ask him to send me to her to get this darn thing fixed.
As rough as these past few days have been, I believe that if I can get through this month, it will really be a breakthrough for me. I know this addiction has a big hold on me, but I think I can starve it out during this challenge and Lent. So I'm focusing my energy on that breakthrough, and looking at these cravings as the hurdle I have to jump to get to a much greener field! (seems like I've mixed some metaphors, but oh well).
So, my food for today was 2 bananas, 2 clementines, raw cheesecake with berries, kombucha, and cashews. Yikes. Tomorrow I'm hitting the greens hard, because I feel sluggish and blah. I can't believe I've neglected my beloved green smoothies for so long! Oh, and I went to the gym last night and got my butt kicked, so that's good too.
That's enough out of me--I'm off to whip up that green smoothie! Have a great night everyone!

I'm a HUGE believer in Alissa's system of eating whatever you want as long as it's raw as you commit to 100% raw. So I'm not trying to limit my anything by eating more greens. I just don't feel very good, and my body is saying "feed me greens!" so that's what I'm doing. Just didn't want anyone to mistakenly think I was restricting or limiting my eating in any way.

tvillemom---awww, that is SO cute. Wish my kids were old enough to make me breakfast. Or at least their own! lol (Love your signature's quote, by the way. I've thought about that on my raw journey many times.)
faithjrny--wow, I completely sympathize with you, that would be the worst, being shorted money, at any time. But while going raw? Ouch.

Day 5, doing fine, I can't believe it. I wish I could have gone all raw before, now it's so much easier. But having hubby 100% on-board helps a lot. He made fried chicken for the kids today, and I can't believe he didn't even lick his fingers! He was very tempted, but stayed in control. The smell was tempting, but not overwhelming. I was hungry in the grocery store today, but not overly tempted. None of it looked that good, really.
Still no major detox symptoms for me, though I was in a bad mood tonight. Is this a bad thing? Should I be experiencing more? I MUST be full of toxins, look how much I weigh!
My husband is feeling nausea on and off. I expected that, he has a weak stomach. Weight loss is going fine. I'm not exactly wanting detox symptoms, but worried I'm not doing something right.
Today I've had three big salads, a smoothie, and I'm making chocolate pudding. I'll probably have another salad. I'm not overly hungry, but not feeling satisfied, either.

Good Wednesday Morning!!
Feeling real good this morning. I did have a crazy nightmare though. Very lucid. The last time I had such lucid dreams I was preggo!
I'm going to my MOPS(Mothers of Preschoolers) meeting this morning, which revolves around absolutly delicious food, so I'm going to bring a huge green smoothie. I'm sure I'm going to be asked a lot of questions:)
Have a great "Hump" day.
I'll check back in later.

Good morning everyone!
Feeling great! I was able to get up and workout this morning! I love starting the day with exercise, it just sets the mood for the day!
For breakfast, I had great raw oatmeal with blueberries! Not sure what is in store for the rest of the day, but I'm thinking a salad for lunch then zuch. spaghetti for dinner.
Okay, back to work! Have a great day!!

For lunch i'm having a salad and for dinner probably a nut burger.
Have a great day:)

Good Morning! I'm feeling good this morning, I've already made juice got my 40 minutes treadmill/stretching done and just finished drinking a glass of carrot juice. Kids have drank their carrot juice and without complaint, they have made huge strides this month. They are actually enjoying their new HIGH raw lifestyle. So, I'm off to Sam's club today I can't believe how much produce we went through this past week (I think I've probably bought at least 20 lbs. of bananas and will be buying more on Friday!). So ... for the rest of the day I will probably have my 2 servings of GS then salad for dinner and I have some portobella mushrooms I think I'll marinade to go with the salad.
Have a GREAT raw day!
Heather
