Hi all,

For about the past two months, I hadn't been taking any supplements whatsoever for reasons being too long to explain here. Midway through last week I decided to start taking some again, and I had the worst reaction ever. My whole body felt like it had been taken down about ten notches. I was exhausted, depressed, and my body just ached. I went back off of them yesterday afternoon and now I feel fantastic again. I've been 100% raw for three months now, and I'm wondering if my body as become extra sensitive to anything even close to non-raw. Has anyone ever had this happen?

Can you tell us what supplements you are talking about.
I have recently started MSM and Macca in my smoothies again after a break of about 3 weeks and feel that they are holding me back and I do not know why.

I have elevated liver enzymes, so I decided to try taking milk thistle and a probiotic, along with digestive enzymes and a multivitamin. Maybe I introduced too many things at once?

Add them back in, one by one, starting with the probiotic and see which one is causing the problem.

Random thought: perhaps due to the milk thistle you experienced some detoxing of the liver- never pleasant.

I've given up on a multi-vitamin. I consider them chemicals.

Stina, have you experienced detox of the liver? I'd like to know if there are any specific liver detox symptoms since that thought ran through my head, but I wasn't quite sure what to do in that situation with not knowing for sure. If it was detox, I probably would have been willing to tolerate the symptoms longer, but if it wasn't detox, I didn't want to do any more damage to my liver, since supplements are filtered through the liver.

When I read this thread it made me stop and think about supplements and raw. I decided to make a small experiment and on Jan 28th I stopped taking any and all supplements on a temporary basis to see how my body reacted to that. Well, I have started detox again. Its a mild detox but has the usual symptoms. Now I am questioning the role of supplements even more then I was before I started the experiment. Has anyone else experimented with this ?

Yeah, Hi ya there. I felt irritable and agitated after awhile taking Renew Life's Liver Detox formula. Although I give this company's integrity the thumb's up- and I'm usually cynical about supplements, I think it's an excellent product and very strong and very effective. At this point I'd rather detox my liver by doing stuff like juicing dandelion greens (with apples and lemon, especially in the spring when I consider it more seasonally appropriate). The last time I did a liver detox, I didn't tell my acupuncturist that I see monthly. He asked me if I was taking liver detox herbs! When I said yes, he said to lay off of them, because by that point my liver had released the hot toxins and was now "cold." Isn't that amazing?

Did that answer your question?
