Hello to all,
I am a new raw newbie from NJ. I am a 40+ stay at home Mom and also work from home as a secretary. Relocated back to NJ after living in Florida for 20+ years. I miss the healthier lifestyle Florida offered.
I have a great desire to learn about changing my life to a raw lifestyle. I ordered about 10 books and have been reading them every night. I just stocked my cabinets with all my raw food staples and have no problem going to get fresh produce. I just started raw foods a few days ago. I love juicing and bought a Kitchenaid food processor so I think I am now all set to go to try some great recipes. I have been doing juicing, fresh fruits and salads these last few days due to the fact I did not have my grocery stocked with things (nuts, seeds, cocunut oils & butters, seaweed and many other neat stuff. I have NO desire to eat meat or dairy. It is a challenge because my kids still want regular cooked foods so I have to make them food but it will be healthy and more organic then what they used to eat. Out goes the fast food joints...... I am very excited and motivated. My husband is 100% behind me in trying this lifestyle change. Lucky for us he loves to garden so I have a yard full of fruit trees, all sorts of berries and grapes. Fresh vegetables will be added in the spring. All is organic.....
I hope to learn from everyone here. I do not know anyone who does Raw and my friends and family think I am crazy.....but let's see what they say in 6 months. I have some major weight to loose...
I just wanted to say hi.
HUGS.

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! Its great that you have the support of your husband! Will you be taking the 30 day challenge? That's a great motivator also!

I'm glad you found this forum -- it's a lot of fun here, very informative along with super supportive!

blessings on your journey - I hope one of the books you got was Alissa's Live on Live Foods... the book is a wonderful tool to help you along your journey....

rawk on and... enjoy the ride!

Hi Tatianna! My name is Art.. I lived in Florida, too.. sometimes I really miss it.. I also live in NJ.

I have come back to raw after a long hiatus. So far, so good! My wife supports me, it's great to have that support!

I just finished a glass of green lemonade.. really good stuff!

Welcome to the boards!

Hi there! I am also from NJ and just starting this journey as well. Good for you. It is wondeful your husband is backing you up, mine still wants meat and potatoes for dinner, he will get them, but healthier versions. He is lking trying new things and the kids too! Make it a family journey. I was inspired by the family featured on the garden diet website- Storm and Jinjee Talifero and their children. Storm has been raw for decades! I am enjoying it so far. Best wishes to you.

I used to live in Pennsville, NJ. Are you anywhere near that? Pennsville is right by the Del. Mem. Bridge.
I live in VA now.

Wow....it looks like you are well on your way and to have your husbands support will really be a plus. Although my children are vegetarian, they are not raw but I do have to say that they like alot of the raw food I make, I just don't make a big deal about it. At dinner I cook for the family but make some type of raw salad so I too can visit and eat right along with the family. I try to make family dinner nice because I feel that it's really a wonderful time for great conversations and bonding. I do my own thing for breakfast and lunch. Oh, by the way, you said you have several books....I too have several raw books and I have to say that I have yet to find one that is better than Alissa's. Good Luck....Judith:)

Keep up the great work and I wish you all the best. I'm brand new at this myself. This diet will only get easier and feel more natural the longer you do it. Tell your husband that you appreciate his support because that's so important. Keep it up!

Take care,

Francesca

I just started myself! I am around the same age too! teehee. I used to live in Daytona back when it wasn't so run down :( We are in Texas now. I am slowly taking the transition myself and starting to see great progress already! Looking forward to seeing how you are doing and comparing newbie notes! :p

I was born in Camden, NJ, so your post resonated with me. I am moving back to the East Coast from New Mexico - believe it or not - leaving all this sun and someplace avocados grow year-round, lol. I'll be living in Brooklyn! Coming back home to the Tri-State area... good luck on your journey and it sounds like you are really hardcore and doing this right! All best 2U - Heather :)
