ok i am writing a recipe book.
i have compiled some recipes , done some research,
but am still undecided as to how to go about doing this.
enter help from my friends.
do any of you have any knowledge in the field?
i looked into getting published it takes 18 months to get the product
and i am not willing to wait that long
(those who have eaten my triple chocolate cheesecake
would hunt me down and string me up - no doubt about it!)
then there is self publishing...
many ways to accomplish this.
so any ideas, pros/cons, discussion
would be oh so appreciated!
reaching out
to you-
thanks bunches!!!!

I think some authors choose to make Ebooks online. There is no printing press and its very fast.

Why not do both? Both of my books are up as ebooks and as soft cover. Your agent have something against money?
*looks over at Starfire* :p

I'll say this about ebooks...I've seen quite a few folks on here asking Alissa if her book was an ebook or if she had a software CD so they could just print out one recipe at a time and take to the kitchen or put their favorites in a binder. So, like Revvell said, I'd do both or at least consider it! You want to have options for ALL of your customers, those that like to hold a tangible book and those who like electronic books and the ability to just print off what they want/need.
I'd start with an ebook because you'd be making money from the sales from that and then once you figure out the route you want to take with publishing, you can then publish the book and have it in print AND electronically.
You may also wish to look into Lulu.com. I had a book published (self) using them.

I think real books are best.
I personally get really upset when I see a supposedly great book that's only available online. I don't have a printer and then I have to be sneaky at work and print the pages for the e-books...usually I'm so turned off by that idea that I don't purchase them.
The only thing I like online is magazine subscriptions b/c then you can just print the articles and skip all the advertisements. But cookbooks should def be real...just imo.

SO cool you're doing a book!
I'm touchy feely and like real books but ebooks are instant gratification. I liked Revvell's Smoozie book so much after seeing the e-book version I bought multiple hard copies for myself and friends. (I've said it before and I'll say it again...it looks so delish you want to lick the pages)
I like lulu for publishing: http://www.lulu.com/
They do soft cover, hard cover, calendars as well as CDs and ebooks.

Here is the cookbook linky: http://www.lulu.com/en/products/cookbooks/
Have fun! Let us know what develops k? I loooooove books!:)
