I did it. I got through the morning (quite nicely, I might add) without any coffee. Instead I had "The Best Coffee Ever" cold drink. I put a bit too much cacao powder in it but it was still quite good - even without the Lucuma and the Yacon which I was unable to get in time. The recipe is on this board, somewhere I think. I had copied it down.:)

Good job! Coffee is seriously the only thing I've been worried about giving up with my new raw adventures. It motivates me to see others are kickin' the habit.

corazon - it was only because of the "lemonade drink" the Master Cleanse that I was able to do without the coffee so easily. It seems to ease the cravings. This is day 2 for me and so far I am doing well. I really want to do this for 40 days, as did Crystalzgonraw, and then go right into RAW foods only. I am so excited about all this and have my enthusiasm back.

I got free of hot tea this winter and I see no reason you couldn't use the same solution for coffee as well. I now drink warm (120F) water. The water tastes very clean and refreshing as only water can. During the winter the warm water fills the want for something warm to drink. It works for me - give it a try :)

EZ rider - I just can't drink plain warm water. No can do. I've tried it before. But these MC lemonade drinks are fine. I can also have plain cool water with lemon juice alone in it. And when I am back to RAW food after I have finished the cleanse, I will have the Best Coffee Ever drink again once in a while- I believe the recipe is on this forum somewhere. Thanks for your support anyway! Sue.

When I first switched from tea to warm water I didn't think it would work because I was used to a drink with plenty of flavor. I kept drinking the warm water and within a few days I adjusted and started to like the warm water just fine. Now I prefer it. I can appreciate that everyone is different and we all need to find and use what works for each of us. Good luck and a happy journey :)

Just a note about coffee -
I was a coffee-drinking maniac all through high school and university - drank it all day and didn't really notice the effects. Then I quit drinking it for 2 years. Then one saturday, after a particularly long week of crazy long hours and a deadline on monday, our office manager brought in coffees for everyone. Well I took a small one - not thinking much about it. WOW. Once you have gone off coffee for a while, do you EVER notice it's effects. I drank an itty bitty coffee and my heart was racing, I couldn't sit still, I couldn't concentrate!!! I remember thinking OMG - Coffee IS a drug LOL!! Needless to say, it would be another 2 years before I quit coffee again!!! :o
But I do drink herbal teas, water with lemon, and I have a few warm beverages that I like especially in the cold months! You eventually get to the point where coffee isn't a thing that you consider drinking....eventually. But like me, it just might take a few years

I was another caffeine fiend. I just made "The Best Coffee Ever" recipe today. And I"m shocked at how good it is! So delicious!

All the ingredients are things I definetely need i.e. Maca.

A guilt free jolt each morning.
