that almost all the commercials on TV are about junk food or about some crazy diet or diet pills.. is it just me? just think if the that commercials for apples or broccoli!!! Probably will never happen but we can dream right??

i know, it's insane. if it's not junk food or diet pills, it's about some new drug with a million side effects that are worse than the original symptom. i don't remember where i heard it or if it's absolutely true or not (cause i don't live there) but i heard that it's illegal or that they don't allow commercials about medicinal drugs on tv in europe. which i think is a great thing. some people are so easily influenced by what they see and then all of a sudden they have this new problem. not saying that some people don't truely suffer from some of these ailments, but they are trying to make us think that it HAS to be cured with THEIR DRUGS. all i have to say to that is BS!!!!

IF I watch tv I mute the commercials and usually have a raw recipe book on my lap and page through it OR my laptop and am visiting here during the commercial breaks.

No, you're not insane. It's a systematic, deliberate process to get you to purchase the junk food and drugs, even when you're not hungry nor need pharmaceutical intervention. People create a lot of their "aliments" after viewing those drug ads over and over and over again I believe. I haven't owned a television for years and I'm grateful for my free thinking self and fired up creativity as a result.

I read a great article on something just like this, I should find it again. Ever notice there are no big stickers on tomatoes letting everyone know "HEALTHY SNACK!" or "LOW FAT"

The poor tomato just sits there being its normal healthy self with no gimmicky advertising! The crappy stuff that just pollutes us are the products with fancy packaging and claims of health splashed all over it.

it's just a never-ending circle of negativity....revolving around big business....the boys in power are just trying to make a buck. do you think anyone would make money if the entire population was slender, healthy, and eating mostly raw fruits and veggies?

advertising is big business....the cheap product...causing horrible side effects that make people believe the cure to their ailments could never be as simple as changing their diet...so then millions are spent by consumers on diet drugs, anti-depressants, etc....why cant people figure out WE ARE WHAT WE EAT??

We stayed in a hotel with cable over Thanksgiving, and as we don't have television, we were getting our fill of the Discovery Channel and we noticed that all the commercials were for:

Prescription Drugs
Mobile Phones
Junk Food
Cars


It was a bit eerie. Over and over and over. It is so hard to be around when you aren't used to it! And that was just the Discovery Channel. Imagine what Fox is like!
