View Full Version : How to stop using most plastic

I'm making changes in my life in stages, and I think now may be a good time to go all out with this. I have switched a lot of storage containers to glass already, but what about my water?

I always like to have water with me when I leave the house, and the water supply at my house is horrible. I've been buying bottled water and refilling the bottles sometimes with double filtered water.

I was thinking of maybe changing to the glass San Pellegrino bottles for water on the go and storing filtered water in the same. Does that sound like it would work? What do you all do who don't use plastics for travel?

Also, what about all the plastic we can't get away from? I think the filters are almost always made of plastic. Does that just defeat the purpose, or is there a significant difference in using glass bottles?

Also, I use glass mason jars for smoothies and sauces, but what about items that don't lend themselves to that sort of storage?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been trying to learn more about this myself, I did find a website on this but I would have to find it when I get home.

Thanks Tanisha! I'm hoping to get some great advice here from people who have experience with making the switch. I would love to see the web site when you can get to it!

(By the way... I left a post that might be helpful to you on the Teacher Talk board. :))

I've bought a few of the Voss water bottles (when they were still glass, poo on them for switching) and reuse them for home filtered water and taking smoothies with me wherever I go. The sleek shape, wide mouth, and portable size is great. Not sure if you can still find them around in glass anymore?

I'm going to the grocery store in a little while to pick up a few things. I'm going to see what I can find that's glass. :)
