I got this in my email box from the raw NYC meetup group...
The Almonds Saga Continues
There will be a public meeting of the Fruit and Vegetable Advisory Committee of USDA on Feb 7 & 8 in Washington, DC. While we may not be there in person, we can send e-mails or faxes for the record.
If you would like to send a note urging that an exemption to the Rule that took effect September 1, 2007 be made to allow the sale or untreated raw organic almonds, e-mail or fax:
Mr. Andrew Hatch at: andrew.hatch@usda.gov or fax to (202) 720-0016.
This should be done by January 31.
This meeting will be primarily for the benefit of the "fruit and vegetable" industry, but as a consumer you can write to say that you believe this rule threatens a segment of the industry on which you rely -- the organic almond growers.
This has a time element so it would be best to do this now and keep it simple!
Faxing is best!
