Hello All,

Does anybody here have any information on how many of those Golden Incan berries one would need to eat in a day to get their RDA of vitamin B12 (2.4 mcg)? I have not been able to find this on the web anywhere and just got my first bag today. Starting the raw foods thing tomorrow with my wife.

Thank you kindly,
Dave

Not quite sure, but apparently you only need about 10 or so of them to get enough nutrients in general. They are so nutrient packed that if you have any more of them you will be bouncing off the walls!
Yum, I love Inca berries. When I was in Peru I was asking around and nobody there even knew what they were!!

There actually is no RDA for B12. B12 stays in your body until you use it. I don't buy or use superfoods for a few reasons...one, they're not necessary (this is a natural diet, right?) and two, I can't afford them.

B12 is produced by microorganisms and as such, your best sources are going to be things like brewer's yeast, kombucha, and unwashed organic produce.

Keep it simple...raw shouldn't break the budget (too much...I'm a uni student, and it breaks mine, but that's only because I previously learned how to subsist on only cheap things like beans and brown rice...lol)

I just want to add that I think iamcranberry meant nutritional yeast, not brewer's. Clarifying so no one reading actually goes out, buys and consumes brewer's yeast. Brewer's yeast is an active yeast, used for brewing/fermenting beer. It is a good source of B12, although, not for our purposes.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I crave these berries every so often. Crave, as in, I can go through the Large size bag in 2 days. I wonder if that's when my b-12 is running out...? I didn't even know they are a good source for that.

My mouth is watering just thinking of them. Must be time for a new bag!

They are both good sources, and although I don't use either, I have a friend who's used both as supplements at one point or another....thus my comment. But you're right, nutritional yeast is probably more common!
